Great location and facilities for our needs
For me, bed and pillows too hard.
Sound insulation from room above could improve. Squeaky floorboards, voices (regular volume) and bathroom activity could be heard at night.
The hotel is nice for a corporate conference centre hotel, clean and well maintained. The big downside is the soundproofing in our room was awful, so we had to suffer 45 mins of the people in the room above doings circuits at 7am.
We arrived at 22.20 having driven from Glasgow. Receptionist was helpful and our room was nearby. The room was ok.
At 22.20, I asked if I could have a quick beer in the bar, the receptionist checked, said it was open until 23.00. I dropped off our cases, walked round to the bar past reception at 10.30 to be told they had just closed the bar and staff had gone home. Allied to the breakfast service closing at 09.30 the next morning, it felt like the hotel was being run for the benefit of staff rather than paying customers. No wonder UK Hospitality is struggling.
Check in was smooth, and it was conveniently located for where we were headed for the weekend. The health spa facilities were also very well maintained.
The rooms were incredibly outdated, as was the bed. Despite being promised AC, it was broken for the entire duration of our stay - we weren’t told in advance or upon check in, and later had to go down to request a fan.

Thought there was a limited choice of food for evening meals in the bar/restaurant but the quality of what was available was excellent

When we arrived we found that we didn't have an air-conditioned room. We had booked this hotel at a higher than budgetted cost due to the availability of aircon, which is explicitly offered on the Booking.com site. When we explained this we were, begrudgingly, given an aircon room at no extra cost.

the location was very good for us . the reception staff were very helpful . Generally the hotel setting was good .
The restaurant offered a limited level of food, at top prices. The staff were disorganized, inefficient, and seem to spend most of their time shouting to each other across the dinning area
Staff were extremely helpful, felt ill with a stomach upset on arrival and they went out of their way to help with room service and support.
