Lovely grounds and beautiful old building but could do with a renovation to make it more inviting
Pros:

The hotel is based in a beautiful part of the Surrey Hills and the grounds are lovely. It's been very hot so the grass is very dry but can imagine after we finally get some rain the grounds will look even more beautiful. Check-in was straightforward and easy. Located close to the Grantley Arms pub in Wonersh which is great. It is a lovely old building but perhaps a bit tired in places and could do with a bit of a renovation, although I imagine that comes at great cost given the size of the hotel.

Cons:

The rooms didn't have aircon and whilst a fan was provided, this unfortunately isn't enough with the heat we've had this summer. If this kind of weather is to continue in the UK would recommend the hotel invests in aircon for all rooms to make it a more pleasant stay for guests. We were initially planning to eat at the hotel restaurant but the vegan options are very disappointing - only a moving mountain burger which I feel is just a quick and easy option to include to tick a box for having a vegan option. (and very expensive for what it is...). Breakfast was ok and the veggie option was tailored to be vegan. We had family also staying and the staff did not go in to make the beds or replace towels etc.

Pros:

Great Stay
Pros:

We arrived at the hotel Saturday 1st August to be greeted by this beautiful building, there was plenty of parking which is a 2 minute walk to the hotel reception which is clearly signposted. The hotel had a lovely feel about it from the minute we stepped in.

When we got to reception we were greeted by a very friendly lady who took our name and handed us our key card told us our room number and gave us directions on how to get there.

We went up the stairs to our room (I don’t think they have a lift but I might be wrong) number 22. The room was lovely and clean and well presented. It was warm but there was a fan which helped with this.

We went elsewhere for dinner but on our return to the hotel we had some drinks and sat outside, the gardens here are lovely. We were served by 2 lovely staff members and they bought our drinks out to us outside.

We had a great nights sleep and found the bed very comfortable. We opted to have breakfast which was buffet style and was very nice, nothing to complain about at all. We both had showers when we went back up to the room and I have got to say it’s one of the best showers we have had in a hotel, it was great.

Overall this hotel ticked all the boxes for 1 night stay and we will definitely be back if we are in the area. Thank you to all the staff they were amazing.

Very nice place and staff were helpful
Pros:

Beautiful grounds but needs some attention.

Cons:

Standard of cleaning poor. Room not serviced during the day. Had to get night manager to sort things out on my return late evening. No offer of a discount either. Plus I paid extra £40 for AC. You are having a laugh, most hotels have AC.

Excellent but..
Pros:

Location, location, location!

Cons:

The breakfast needs work. For the premium price paid one would expect the quality of the breakfast to be of higher standards (especially the scrambled eggs). Also, the waiting times for the coffee can be very long, especially if it's your first cup for the morning (it feels even longer). Time to invest in a better coffee machine I think.

Afternoon Tea is a real treat.
Pros:

On this occasion daughter and I went for a July Sunday afternoon tea. We chose a parasol table on the terrace overlooking the lawn overlooking miles. We ordered two champagne teas but as I was driving I passed my glass across.
"Afternoon Tea - - - is a real treat" says the brochure, and so it was ! A house and setting right out of the National Trust, but much much better goodies.
The house is worth seeing on its own account - the main stairs a marvel.

Graduation time
Pros:

Lovely Hotel , rooms too! We had a lovely two nights there . Staff friendly, good menu.
But, we found that the staff haven't been trained enough . Slow on responses and not able to prioritise requests
It has the opportunity to become a fantastic spot
We will be back , if possible

Very disappointing stay
Pros:

Very disappointing experience, especially for a hotel marketed as a 4-star "luxury" property.
We paid £170 for one night and expected a high standard of cleanliness and service. Unfortunately, the room was not up to standard. There were broken items, rubbish under the bed, fan was thick with dust that had to be cleaned for it to work, room was thick with dust throughout, making it feel poorly maintained and not worth the price we paid.
The room service experience was equally disappointing. Our order arrived incomplete, and when I went to reception it took three members of staff to deal with the issue and arrange replacement drinks because the ones we had originally ordered were unavailable. Despite this, I still had to collect the missing items myself, yet we were charged the full room service fee. We also pre authorised £100 at check in for room service, we used £60 of this and when asking how long the reaming money not spent will take to return to my account i was informed up to 5 working days, it has now been that and still nothing, they advised me to contact my bank, passing it to someone else and given the impression they do not want to deal with my query.

What makes this even more disappointing is that we stayed at Days Inn Warwick North M40 the night before for just £48. That room was spotless, well ventilated, comfortable and the staff were welcoming throughout our stay. Despite being a budget hotel, it delivered a far better experience than this hotel at more than three times the price.

After our stay, I raised my concerns through Booking.com and the hotel itself and provided photographic evidence of the condition of the room. Unfortunately, Booking.com informed me they were unable to reach an agreement with the hotel, and no meaningful refund was offered. I still havent heard back from the hotel after they told me they have acknowledged my email and will look into this.
Based on my experience, I do not feel this hotel offers the level of cleanliness, maintenance or service that I would expect from a 4-star luxury hotel, and I would not choose to stay here again.

I have attached pictures for reference this was the cosy double room, I was hoping it wouldnt come to leaving this review but as the hotel will not acknowledge my complaints or deal with any matters professionally it is leading me to write this and I dont want someone else being in the same position. This full stay caused me unnecessary stress whilst being heavily pregnant.

When we arrived there was only one towel for two people, no shower mat, no hand soap and the painting on the wall fell on the floor because it wasn’t screwed in properly.

This hotel has the potential to be amazing but they need more staff & better service.
Pros:

The grounds, the main building, the decor were all great.
Evening meal was also very good.
Dog bed & bowls all provided.
My daughter's ice packs for her insulin were stored in the freezer for us overnight.

Cons:

I originally booked 3 Snug Doubles and was told this wasn't dog friendly and I needed to upgrade 1 toom to a Cosy Double @ £40 per night in addition to the pet supplement of £20 / night.
We had to challenge this on check out as the room for our dog to stay in was significantly smaller than others in our party.
The staff were also inadequate - extensive wait time at reception and the bar.

Comfortable bed for the night
Pros:

Main building and grounds were well kept from the areas I saw.
Car park is large and no issues with finding a space.
Staff were friendly, answered any questions and were very helpful.
Bed was comfortable and there were a load of pillows which is always decent.

Cons:

The main property is extremely well maintained and to a very high standard.
The room I was in however needed some TLC and has seen better days. It was a budget room so it wasn’t an issue, although I would’ve expected the rooms to have been to the high standard of the rest of the hotel & spa.
