Lovely location but disastrous experience in the dining room.
Pros:

The location was very good, right on the waterfront and close to the town centre and the room was good.

Cons:

The dinner experience completely spoilt the stay. Firstly, we booked for 7pm but they weren’t ready for us until 45 minutes later, saying that they were struggling after having a large group dining earlier. We ordered starters and mains and I’m afraid it was all very poor, including service. My daughter ordered a seafood soup; she was given beef and was told the seafood had run out. She wasn’t asked if that was ok, it was just presented as a fait accompli; and the soup was not good at all. I don’t know why but the waitress then decided to serve our mains when we were still eating the starters. The table was now covered with plates and, of course, the mains were slowly getting cold. We gave up on the starters but the mains were, by now, a congealed mess (I suspect it wasn’t that great to start with as they were very heavy with sauce). We left probably more than half of the food as a result. Horrible.

The room was very clean and comfy. The view from our balcony was beautiful.

Cons:

The service in the restaurant was slow. We actually had to call the waiter over and ask if he knew we were there. I think they could definitely use more staff.

Overall good except for Saturday night.

There was a wedding reception going on right below our room with loud
Music until 10:45. We were tired from traveling and couldn't sleep until it was over. Was charged a premium for Saturday night.

Pros:

Great location on the river, can walk to shops and restaurants. Fun viewing the boat traffic on the river. Great place to stay if wanting to visit the Boult castle.

Cons:

The bed covers were needing to be cleaned, there was hair from a previous guest on them.

Wonderful event, sleepless night
Pros:

it was clean and a nice room, overall. We love staying at this hotel and we stayed because of an event we attended that night. It's always a great time at this hotel.

Cons:

the bed and the pillows were absolutely horrible in our room. The most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in and the pillows were just awful. We've stayed here a few times, this is by far the worst sleeping experience.

Facility location and staff great; a few extra amenities for price would be nice.
Pros:

The staff and location are wonderful, and overall, the facility is very nice. The town of Clayton is beautiful.

Cons:

This may sound picky, but for the cost per night (over $300), I could not believe that we had neither a microwave nor a small coffee maker in our room. Since many less expensive hotels we have stayed at have always had these, I didn’t bother to check the listing. My fault, but an assumption I felt I could easily make.

The rooms were great and the location was perfect.

Cons:

I did not like the treatment we received from the restaurant staff. Also sitting at the bar near the garnish station which was covered and swarming with fruit flies.

Overall, our stay was great. We will visit again!
Pros:

The location was perfect, and the staff was incredibly attentive! The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The food from the restaurant was great, we sat outside and enjoyed the morning view.

Cons:

The restaurant wait time was two hours, so we had no choice but to order room service. It wasn't the ideal Saturday night anniversary dinner I was looking forward to.
While the room includes many amenities, a coffee maker is essential. I understand the hotel only offers coffee in the morning, but people like to drink coffee at different times of the day. I'm glad we brought our own coffee maker.
