Dr Wilkinsons Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs a Member of Design Hotels

From the moment we arrived until the instant we left we were treated like royalty. The staff are genuinely happy and caring and seem to really care that each guest experience is amazing. The property is spotless, food is great and the amenities superb. Seven checked us in and provided tips on how to best enjoy our stay, Jose is the amazing pizza maker, Damian master bartender and server spoiling the pool guests with frozen grape skewers and Saun pool attendant extraordinaire all made our trip amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

Retro and stylish in great location to restaurants and supermarket next door. Kettle and fridge in the room plus lovely toiletries. The different pools were great and food delicious.

There is excellent customer service, which can be taught to a certain extent, and then there’s the kind of above-and-beyond service we received here. Staff like Henry, Seven, and Jose demonstrated a natural, hospitable energy which went beyond anticipating our needs to treating us like treasured friends. Absolutely outstanding. This was the cherry on top of great facilities and amenities. Can’t recommend enough.

Had no idea what to expect - was delightfully surprised. Everyone was so kind and engaging. Had “The Works” at the Spa- had a moderately low expectation for the massage as historically I’ve had mediocre experiences at resorts and cruises. However —Celena Scott was amazing ( massage therapist) and I felt truly spoiled. It was more a deep tissue , wonderful experience. I cannot recommend her enough. Office staff was great! Restaurant- cute but not my fav. The pools were amazing. Rooms are spacious and very clean. I would definitely come back.

The people are as warm and rejuvenating as the healing waters at Dr Wilkinson’s making this place just magic.

The front desk staff are fun, friendly and make you feel like family. If you have the pleasure of talking with Seven or Henry when you book or check-in they will take the best care of you.

I had accessibility needs, a family with a doggie and lots of questions, they helped with it all. When I called with requests, Seven’s energy made me smile and they actually remembered me from a previous call. Henry greeted me proactively while I waited in line to i quire about extending our stay. He is warm and empathetic-and he took the time to answer questions to help me get wheat I needed.

The room was super comfortable, cool and retro! The beds are the right amount of soft but firm enough to be supportive.

The mineral pools really help with pain and sleep. I was worried they would feel too warm in the summer heat and they do not! Night or day - they are the best.

I left the spa summer special mineral bath + massage a different person. The most relaxed I have ever been. All of the staff’s genuine hospitality is next level. My body has been through a lot and really benefited from this healing. ❤️‍🩹

I ate breakfast and lunch at the House of Better: greek yogurt and tacos were awesome. And again - the staff were super nice and accommodating. They all have a very cool summer vibe going too - very on point.

Very peaceful place (and area in general), very friendly and personable staff that were quick to help us when a couple minor things came up, and multiple mineral pools to relax in including an adult only pool which was super nice! Henry and Seven in particular were super helpful and great to interact with, they took good care of our family. Absolutely enjoyed our stay and are eager for our next visit!

Fun, unpretentious and thoughtfully curated experience. Perfect location to walk through Calistoga town and excellent entertainment on the property!

I loved the mud bath, and the three hot spring fed swimming pools. It was great having a restaurant adjacent to the pools and be able to carry out a margarita to the pool. I really appreciated the location, easily walkable to downtown while not being in the center of it. There is also a grocery store across the street -- very handy!

Very disappointing experience and absolutely not worth the price. The hotel is extremely overpriced for what it offers. The room had almost nothing included — even basic items like water bottles, creams, or amenities were extra charges. When I asked for simple English breakfast tea bags, I was told to go buy them from the restaurant instead of providing them as a courtesy, which was shocking for a hotel charging these rates.

The spa experience was even more disappointing. They basically put you in a mud tub for 15 minutes, then have you rinse off and sit in another tub they call “mineral water,” followed by a steam room and wrapping you in a sheet. That’s it. There was no real massage included despite how the website presents the experience. For over $250 plus tip, it felt completely misleading and not luxurious at all.

Also, there was nothing shown or certified anywhere proving this was actually a true mineral spring spa experience. Overall, the stay and spa were far below expectations. I would not recommend this hotel or spa, especially for the price they charge.

The people who work at this wonderful place make it even more special than its beauty and amenities.

Marilyn, Henry, and Rocky are fabulous human beings who are really generous with their time and make sure that you feel seen and taken care of. I really appreciated how friendly they were with us. I felt like a pal more than a guest in the best way.

Spring pools are amazing. Grounds and restaurant are very relaxing. Perfect place to hang out w family.

Kindness & attention to the visitors needs. The folks who worked there seemed to work well as a team and enjoyed helping others folks.

Dr Wilkinson’s Spa is an amazing unique get-away in an incredibly beautiful setting surrounded by hills in the distance, wine trails and a picturesque little Main Street. The rooms were impeccably clean and well designed. There was not the sterile feel but an environment that felt warm, quirky and inviting. The staff was friendly and went to great lengths to insure my wonderful Mother’s Day treat from my son exceeded expectations. The on site restaurant had the most delicious halibut tacos I have ever had and served exceptional local wine.
The spa service of the mud bath and the mineral water bath was totally relaxing. The staff provided continual monitoring to make sure we were comfortable, well hydrated and had everything we needed. Again the experience exceeded expectations.
I cannot wait to return and share this experience with my husband.
I highly recommend Dr Wilkinson’s hotel facility and spa.
