The optimism of staying in a castle does
Pros:

Location only.

Cons:

Property is very tired and in need of updating in general.
Driveway heavily pot holed and when wet full of water and with no external lighting a nightmare in the dark.
No reception person after 6:30ish and therefore no bar.
Rooms dated and with no lift it would be hard for less able people to haul cases up and through the various doors on each floor.

Short stay for work purposes locally
Pros:

The staff were friendly and the place was warm and clean .

Cons:

The property needs updating from the lights in the driveway not working to the extremely poor water pressure in the shower ( room 10) with work had been done in the bathroom but old sealant hadn’t been removed , just looks shabby.

Super helpful staff
Pros:

My wife broke her ankle a couple of days before we were due to visit and the staff were super helpful in moving us to their second property so she didn’t have to deal with stairs. Both properties are well appointed and very comfortable.

Grosses Zimmer, Schlossambiente

Cons:

Badezimmer-Ausstattung erneuerungsbedürftig (tropfender Wasser, Abfluss-Stöpsel beim Lavabo kaputt).
Für das Hot-Breakfast musste man 15 Min. zu Fuss zu einem anderen Hotel gehen.

Pros:

Our dinner in the restaurant was excellent! Highly recommend to eat. Continental breakfast was also good and varied.

Cons:

We had and up and down stairs long walk with luggage to our rooms. The staff should have taken us to a side emergency exit to bring our bags in, by the garden. That is how we exited and was a much easier out with our luggage.

Pros:

The hotel is quite imposing from the outside and the reception and lounge areas are very impressive.

Cons:

The bedroom was located quite a long way from the reception and involved negotiating flights of stairs both up and down, which was quite a mission when carrying several items of luggage. The decor in the bedroom itself was quite old and tired.

A picturesque castle in a small town, gorgeous on the outside and a wonderful breakfast - but left wanting in the room i
Pros:

Very impressive from the outside and in the main areas. Breakfast was a good variety of continental and cooked

Cons:

The room I was in was very far from the reception (up a flight of stairs, through two corridors, down a flight of steps). The room was very dim even with all the lights turned on, and the decor could do with some subtle modernisation. The bathroom especially felt like it needed modernising.

It was a perfect match for our honeymoon in Scotland.
Pros:

Our stay was excellent, the location is stunning and our room was beautiful. It was a pleasure to chat with the staff and get a lot of useful tips what to see around.

Not what was expected…..
Pros:

The room was dated but large
The owner was a delight, larger than life character….

Cons:

Arrived at Mansfield castle and asked why we couldn’t eat there as advertised.
This operation is not being clear about how it operates…..it wasn’t what I expected
Moved to Marangie House hotel…..twin hotel?
Staffing issues were plain to see
Food was expensive and not up to standard…even for pub grub.
It turned out most guests had walked into town and eaten takeout

Voor betaalde prijs had ontbijt ruimer gemogen (meer keuze).
Toilet spoelde slecht door.
