Fomm the outside the hotel looks beautiful and grand. The gardens were stunning. The afternoon tea was lovely and the staff really helpful.
The bedrooms were really basic and could do with a refurb. Rooms were really hot and outside our window was either some kind boiler or massive vent which made a noise all the time. Second room we booked the shower was cold and dial on shower came off every time you turned it,
Great hotel friendly staff all round a very pleasant stay
Earlier breakfast at the weekend
Location and condition were perfect and the staff were also very attentive and polite.
I hate full breakfast left on heaters for you to plate your own meal. I understand why it is done but the food dries and is often cool by the time you get back to your table.
Our evening meal which we had on both nights was hot and first class value for money.
We like the history and atmosphere. There is a book about the petwood hotel which gives its history. It has a lovely Squadron Bar dedicated to the Air Squadron. The rooms have an old grandeur to them and the grounds are wonderful to stroll around - especially the azalea/rhodadendrum walk.
Perhaps consider no mobile phones in the diningroom. It is a very special dining experience which deserves to be a mobile phone free friendly area.
Historical old building
Some furnishings were a little tired
Room was clean and comfortable. Excellent terrace overlooking the gardens. Better choice on the terrace bar menu than in the dining room which was a little disappointing.
Better service by the waiting staff clearing tables
Excellent staff, excellent breakfast. Such an iconic place, wonderful.
Excellent breakfast
Pillows were a bit lumpy ….
