A unique hotel absolutely full of character and history. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Great relaxed atmosphere and lovely gardens. Good traditional food available throughout the day and a lovely evening meal. Can’t fault it.

Location was great, very traditional hotel with a fascinating history and architecture, makes a great change from Lego style modern corporate hotels.
I'm afraid the staff let it down somewhat, waiting in reception to check in the gentleman behind me (who had smarter attire on, tough day on the golf course for me!) was called and served ahead of me. Also received random charging when trying to play snooker against what was charged to my colleagues the previous day, again I can only assume it was my more casual attire on the day, a real shame.
Lovely period property in beautiful grounds
The grounds were nice but needed some attention as were a little messy in places. The girls on reception were lovely and helpful.
The bed was terrible! Mattress rock hard and lumpy, pillows were like sleeping on bricks. We both woke up with stiff necks and achy backs, my husband resorted to sleeping with his head on his jumper in the end. The room was boiling! There was a man shouting loudly in the hallway and after listening for a few mins it was a staff member who was talking about his ADHD to a customer! The food was ok, our meal in the restaurant was fine but the service was awful, the staff looked depressed and bored, if you work in hospitality you at least need to smile and make the customers feel welcome. The breakfast wasn’t great either and had the same staff as the restaurant. It did the job but not worth £125!! Should have looked for a premier inn they always have comfy beds!
Beautiful building and grounds. The staff were all lovely and friendly. Our room was very nice and comfortable and a delicious breakfast.
