Exceptional Service from Brian & Kevin, They Made All the Difference
Pros:

I want to specifically recognize Brian and Kevin at the front desk of the Avalon Hotel in St. Petersburg for providing truly exceptional customer service.

We unfortunately had an issue with our room having a noticeable mildew smell. While situations like this can easily put a damper on a hotel stay, Brian and Kevin completely changed the experience through the way they handled it. They were incredibly professional, understanding, attentive, and genuinely concerned about making sure we were taken care of.

What impressed us most was that neither of them treated our concern like an inconvenience. They listened, took the issue seriously, and immediately focused on finding a solution. Their attitude and level of hospitality were exactly what you hope to receive when something doesn't go as planned.

A hotel can have beautiful rooms and great amenities, but the people are ultimately what determine whether you want to return. Brian and Kevin are the kind of employees who create loyal guests. Because of the way they treated us, an issue that could have resulted in a negative experience instead became a reason to speak highly of the Avalon.

Management should be extremely proud to have Brian and Kevin representing this hotel. Their professionalism, kindness, and commitment to their guests deserve recognition.

Thank you both for going above and beyond. Five stars for Brian and Kevin — without hesitation.

Pros:

The king bed was super comfortable and the air conditioned room had all the amenities you could need. It had a fridge and microwave, full pot coffee maker, and a 2 burner stove. Also pots and pans and cups and plates. A large tv completed the studio. There were sliding glass doors that opened to a private fenced in courtyard with table and 2 chairs. It's quaint and charming.

We liked the hotel overall but would probably look at other properties for another stay.
Pros:

The suite was spacious and the pool area and bar were great.

Cons:

We could hear the people above us moving around a lot. The shower had very low water pressure. The couch in the living room was very uncomfortable to sleep on.

Great location!
Pros:

Location was excellent. Walking distance to everything! The free water bottles in the lobby were a nice touch. Great patio area. Loved the hanging sound machines there as well. Loved the Rituals bath products!

Cons:

The hotel was not like the pictures. Seems like a bit of an older hotel that they cosmetically updated, but still has older hotel bones. Eg saw a giant duct taped contraption in the closet I think was connected to the HVAC. Room small - like a Paris sized hotel. Not much space to put things down and no outlets. Had to move bed to find one deep underneath it. HVAC system had a lot of black mold in it and was kind of 50-50. Room had a lot of musty smell, indicating possible mildew as well. Parking was fine if it wasn't busy, but when it got busy, almost impossible to find a spot and was like a giant dirt field, felt a little unsafe to park our car there.

The best stay!
Pros:

me and my husband stayed at the avalon last friday and we had the best night ever larissa and natalie were incredible at check in made us feel so welcome and gave great recommendations. the place is such a cool environment and everyone was so nice! cannot wait to be back!
