Friendly Manager and staff, reasonably priced drink at the bar, reasonable quality breakfast
Restaurant closed though advertised as open. That said they did provide us with dinning equipment and condiments for us to eat takeaway food in the bar
Good location, good price and nice breakfast.
Shower wasn't great, just a dribble and only coming out hot. Room was very warm but a fan was supplied.
I stayed in room 103.
The room was beautifully decorated with plenty of beds, towels, tea and coffee facilities.
It was a very warm day and not much cooler at night.
The shower water flow was very good and able to set to a nice temperature.
Having a key meant I could go for several walks on Sunday morning without disturbing anyone.
A lovely atmosphere.
I was meeting family on Sunday morning prior to my departure, and had asked if it was possible to book breakfast for extra, this was not allowed, so we found an alternative location.
I couldn't connect with to the internet even through the QR code and instructions on the information sheet within the room, and the TV signal was also lost during the morning from 6am.
The restaurant / Tapas close by after 10pm Saturday night was quite loud with their customers coming onto the street, I had left the windows open to get some air and drew the curtains, and with the fan being on too, the noise level from outside was quite loud. I was glad to use one of the back bedrooms to eventually get some sleep. Thank you for putting the fan into the room as it really made a difference.
The hairdryer didn't work and the light on the bathroom mirror was also not working.
The waste water in the shower didn't drain away very quickly.
No allocated parking for residents.
Very clean
The restaurant is closed indefinitely. Needed to know that in advance as v hard to find food on a Monday night.
Breakfast not served until 8
Good sized room in a location that suited. Breakfast cooked to order and friendly staff
Plumbing was a bit intrusive but as it is an aged property I don’t think that can be improved much
Lovely room and cute little town near Forrest of Dean and Puzzlewood! The cooked breakfast was a lovely perk too!
Plenty there all in a circle if u don't want to walk far
The public square immediately adjacent to the Angel Hotel was extremely noisy in the early hours of both mornings of my stay. I was kept awake frompeople shouting until after 2am. As result I was very tired during my stay due to poor sleep.
Also, the room does not have thick / black-out curtains and so the strong street lights nearby didn't help with sleep either.
Overall a good hotel, but its location - or the room I stayed in at least - was very poor. I would not recommend it if needing a good night's undisturbed sleep!
Staff were friendly and enjoyed the full English breakfast! The area we had our breakfast was nice with interesting decor! Bed was comfortable and the location was great for numerous Wye Valley trails!
Room needs some maintenance. Balcony doors couldn’t lock properly, visible stain on carpet and chair, and peeling paint. Rooms got a bit too hot despite the fan.
Quiet comfortable room. Good value for money. Freshly cooked breakfast.
The carpet edges could have been cleaner but it was an old building.
The staff in the morning were helpful with breakfast request.
This is NOT, and SHOULD not be called a family friendly Hotel. Although we were told they shut at 10.30, loud music and drunk patrons, shouting profanities carried on until at least 1.30am. Then this carried on directly beneath our room, with one person vomiting into the street. Confirmed when having to avoid said vomit as we left the property.
The children room with two single beds was stifling hot despite the fan on and window open.....
The bathroom was a disgrace, broken lock, broken toilet flushing mechanism, broken shower control, flooring that was coming up and a shower tray that didn't drain.....
Would request a refund if I thought it possible
Nice friendly atmosphere in the bar, helpful staff and a fabulous breakfast. Easy to get the temperature right in the room. Comfortable bed.
No car parking on site. No evening meals available during our stay (Monday and Tuesday night) but there is a really good takeaway across the square called Coleford Charcoal.
Staff were friendly, room was available early, clean and comfortable.
Nothing.
