Very very limited parking

We came out of breakfast and as it was very hot in the rooms we went and got some cool drinks and coffee from the shops across the road. We sat out side on the benches and tables, at around 10:30 they opened the bar area and we were told we couldn’t stay there and drink our drinks as they had opened the bar we had to buy from the bar which I thought was a bit rude as we were guests as to which I did explain this and the bar and cafe was open when we went to sit there after our breakfast, as paying customers of the hotel I thought this was bit out of order it wasn’t like we were stragglers off the street.

The room I had was great but very noisy because of the bar courtyard below.

Bar Prices.

Room was up endless stairs, staircase uneven, didnt feel safe carrying luggage. Room was hotter than it was outside,small window found a bird on windowsill so curtains stayed closed, window pulled to, fan in room just no impact. Sleep due to stifling heat poor. Bathroom new suite but toilet too close to door. Just poor in comparison to previous stay. Absolutely no view other than rooftops

We had booked four rooms for ourselves and our family for two nights. One of the rooms had very poor water pressure and the shower in particular was affected badly. There was a note in this room to say that the low pressure was due to the local water authority reducing the pressure during the current extremely hot weather so my son accepted that this was why there was a problem until he realised on our final night that none of the other rooms we had booked were experiencing the same problem. As I had booked all the rooms initially I reported it to the reception staff the following morning whilst checking out. I spoke to the receptionist who said we should have reported it sooner. I explained about the note displayed in the room and that was the reason it hadn’t been reported. Strangely, none of the other rooms we used had a note regarding low water pressure. The receptionist did not seem to know about the note but did apologise and offered to find another room with a shower that was working
properly to use that morning but by this time my son and his wife had already used the affected shower as they had a long journey home and needed to leave. It very much looked to me that the note had been put in the room to excuse an existing problem. There was no offer to refund any part of the charge for that room for any inconvenience caused.

We were staying at the hotel during a heatwave. The rooms were understandably very hot and stuffy but fans had been provided as there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms apart from the dining room and reception areas which was very welcome. It was necessary to keep the windows open overnight and as a result those in our party who had rooms at the front of the hotel found it quite noisy. Our stay was over a Friday and Saturday night so it may well be much quieter during the week.

I would also mention that parking is a problem sometimes at this hotel.

The Window Latch in my Room Needs Replacing, The Window Was either open Full , or just A little bit open , No in between , Preferably like a room overlooking the High Street, a bit more Quieter

Needs attention to attachments in the room, ie soap holder falling off, towel tail and loo holder loose

We had a front room and the road noise woke us up

The coffee needs attention, too week.

Previous reviews complained that hand basin in bed room and not en-suite. Was looking forward to having a basin in bedroom so can do teeth etc while spouse using en-suite but only had basin in ensuite. Reception offered to swap but I had already unpacked so “made do” without the hand basin in the bedroom.

Our room was upstairs and it was very warm without air conditioning. Low ceiling entrance to bathroom - good for hitting heads on.
