Quirky building but lack of customer care

Check in is 3pm. I already requested check in between 3-4pm and this was accepted by message from Fabrika.. I arrived early and was told the room would be ready by 2pm. I went out to explore and got back at 5.30pm. I was then told my room wouldn’t be ready until 6pm. I had a short stay as I was leaving at 4am the next day. And I was going out that evening at 6.30pm. No time to enjoy my room at all. How can check-in suddenly move to three hours later?


Also, I requested shower gel as stated on the booking.con notes - there wasn’t any available. I had to make do with shampoo.

Finally, I had a heavy case. On leaving, I asked if the lift would take me to ground level. I was told no. I asked if I could use the small lift for wheelchairs to take my case down. I was told no.

Not very client-friendly

Cons:

I stayed at Fabrika Hostel for 6 days. This was my second stay here, and I really like the hostel. However, one issue made me extremely frustrated.

There are 10 code-lock lockers in the shower area that are clearly marked for use only while showering. Despite this, every day of my stay, whenever I went to take a shower, all the lockers were occupied, even though nobody was using the showers. It was obvious that some guests were using them as permanent storage for their personal belongings.

I reported this problem to reception three times, but nothing changed. I was told the lockers could not be opened because they contained guests’ belongings. If the rules are never enforced, people will simply continue ignoring them.

The showers on the second floor are under renovation, so I have to use the third floor. Every day I carried my belongings upstairs only to find every locker occupied. I then had to either leave my valuables unattended or go back downstairs and return later. After dealing with this for six consecutive days, I became extremely frustrated.

This problem has a simple solution: enforce the existing rules. Put a notice saying lockers may only be used while showering (for example, for a maximum of 45 minutes), and that any belongings left longer may be removed by staff.

This is a small issue with an easy solution, but it has a big impact on the guest experience.

Pros:

מקום חמוד מלא חיים, למרות שיש פעילות בחצר עד השעות הקטנות של הלילה, בחדרים הרעש לא מגיע.

תאי השרותים והמקלחות היו סגורים בקומה שלי באופן זמני, לא יודע האם זו בעיה נפוצה אבל לא כל כך נורא להשתמש בקומה למעלה.

Pros:

Nice that its central and has a social area with lovely interior, flexible checkin and able to leave luggage before/after checkout

Cons:

Very noisy at night from the bars, unfortunate that you have to pay to rent a towel and a locker for your valuables/luggage. Also the toilet and showers on the 1st floor was broken so had to walk a bit to go to the toilet (which can be annoying in the middle of the night), and no curtains to cover your bed for privacy
