Absolutely beautiful- amazing staff and service. Excellent breakfast and a very kind upgrade!
Rooms were very warm- staff were quick to offer fans and this made a big difference.
Excellent breakfast, location was fine, all in all a decent hotel
Air conditioning in this hot weather would have been good
Good central Location with free parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was superb.
The breakfast service was very slow on our last morning as a wedding party arrived. The room for one couple in our party was cancelled late on and they had to make alternative arrangements.
Beautiful large room with fabulous bathroom and roll top bath. Helpful staff and great food
Nothing
The rooms were spacious, clean and we're well stocked, , great on site cat park, beautiful decor inside and the food when ready looked and tasted good.
Getting attention if staff could be quite difficult, waiting for a staff member to be free to help with check in as they ran between bar, tables and check in desk.
Was staying with friends and they were told they had to stay at a sister hotel for the first night in advance and were told that on the second night they could stay with the rest of us. On the day of the move the hotel team phoned the sister hotel to tell them they didn't have space instead of phoning our friends directly.
Dinner on the first night there was a long wait for food and same for breakfast on our last morning.
All In all it felt like there was a lack of staff, we were told there was some sicknesses so understandable but did affect experience and a lack of communication with guests.
Convenient and clean
Not enough staff, service was very slow
The hotel was beautiful, staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you.
Our room was beautiful and spacious, exactly what we needed.
We had 2 rooms booked during a heat wave. One room was ok as it had a lot of windows to move the air around, we had a fan in the room but it was still warm at times.
The other room was stifling hot and could not cool down at all.
The rooms would benefit from air conditioning units really, even portable ones as the fan just blew hot air around. We had to keep the room door into the corridor open at times to create some air flow.
Everything else was lovely, but the hotel needs to invest on how to keep their guests comfortable in hot weather.
Very nice rooms, very clean
Service at breakfast and the bar at night was very poor. Nearly an hour wait for food
Ambience
We stayed in May as this was a get together with friends. We were staying at the Lion & Swan but dining at Pecks Restaurant. The staff were excellent, one of the couples had a problem with their room but this was very swiftly resolved. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely clean spacious and accommodating. I’m pleased that we paid extra for the upgrade. I’m unable to comment on the breakfast that was included as we didn’t have any.
When you enter the room there is a step which could be hazardous for some people and maybe should be mentioned when guests are checked in. We didn’t have any issue with this.
Rooms very clean and quiet. Evening meal and Breakfast was superb. Perfect stay.
overall good service - highly recommend it to all
The hotel was clean and bright throughout with good quality furniture. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of hot food to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel was very centrally located in Congleton. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms well provisioned for most stays. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Upon arrival it wasn't 100% clear where I should enter to check-in. The main entrance looked like a restaurant to me and it was difficult to find someone to check where to go. After staying there, it seems silly that I couldn't figure it out, but tired travellers are often not the most logical beings.
Also, it was very difficult to make contact with the hotel before my stay. This made it difficult to confirm some of the details that I need to straighten out before my trip. However, when at the hotel the communication was excellent.
