We had a family dinner at Sophia’s Lounge on a Friday night, and once again, it exceeded every expectation. This has always been one of our favorite spots in Charlotte, and somehow it just keeps getting better every time we visit.
The staff is truly exceptional. Jasmine, Chi Chi, David, and the kind gentleman who greeted us at the front made us feel so welcome and took wonderful care of our family throughout the evening. Their hospitality made the experience even more special.
Whether you’re looking for small plates, a full dinner, or just a great place to enjoy a drink, I highly recommend Sophia’s Lounge. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service has always been excellent in our experience, and the entire team never disappoints. Thank you for another wonderful evening, we’ll definitely be back!
I loved the architectural and design details. It gave the hotel a very unique, vintage feel that set it apart from any property I have ever visited.
Beautiful and clean!
Nothing
I really would like to have shared this with the management first, but my concerns I guess were not forwarded. I booked this through the American Express fine hotels program. I arrived, a young Valet showed up. I asked for help taking Bags to the room. I checked in at the desk. There’s a little trouble with the keys, but in a public voice, the receptionist said my and Room number publicly during the check-in process a couple times.
The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. The decor in the hallway is exquisite. I attempted to use my $100 American Express credit at the restaurant. I entered, made contact with several of the staff and stood patiently at the wait stand. We chose a table and sat down and 45 minutes. We watched the guest around us have excellent treatment and service. I had a distinct impression that the servers were prioritizing certain patrons over others.
A small example would be calling zero for the front desk getting the front desk and being asked to call the valet line. The Valet was sitting 4 feet away from the person who was talking on the phone. I asked the receptionist if she could just lean over and ask the Valet to get my car and he did. But not before referencing me to an app, I could use to request my car.
Picture this I’m standing at the telephone with all of my luggage talking to the person who is 4 feet away from my car keys and they are asking me to put down the phone and log into an application. Those are rookie mistakes, very easily corrected. I still have not received an itemized bill. I attempted to find it today in my inbox, but instead found a link to post a review here. So for my stay, I spent one hour wasted, looking at empty tables in a restaurant and staff surfing the Internet on their phones and being waited on. I wasted another hour attempting to get my car brought to the valet.
All in all, it just felt something like new money running an old Hotel.
Everything!!!
Nothing
Quite possibly the nicest hotel I have stayed not. Not the biggest, not the most glamorous, just the nicest. From the lobby to the hallways, to the rooms, and the lounge. Just first class.
I am a Marriott Lifetime Titanium Elite with 1,400 + Marriott night around the globe.
This sweet little hotel is the place to stay. The staff was amazing from the moment the valet took our car. They answered question, knew me by name thru out my stay and made it feel like we were staying with family!! Thank you for being my home away from home.
Clarissa was there to get me checked in and make my life easy for check out too. What a team, can't wait to come back and stay with them.
Lovely atmosphere great staff only 1 complaint, no ability to stream on tv’s or cast from Mac computers. Stuck watching on my iPad.
Very beautiful boutique hotel with a central location with peaceful atmosphere
Everything was absolutely amazing! Josh, Casey, Teresa and everyone else were super helpful, caring and giving! This is my top two hotels to I’ve ever stayed in will definitely be returning!!!
The staff was amazing, the location is nice and the room was very cozy.
No fridge or microwave available on the property. I brought fresh fruit and could store it in the mini fridge that is filled with beverages to purchase.
Location and mattress were the best things about this hotel. The service was fair and the amenities very lacking. Basic expectations were unmet.
We stayed at the Ivy’s Boutique Hotel in downtown Charlotte this past weekend while celebrating our son’s engagement with him and his fiancée, and it couldn’t have been a better place for such a special occasion.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. We were surprised with adjoining executive suites, which made spending time together as a family even more special.
One of our favorite things about the hotel was the restaurant. It was just downstairs, making it feel like you were simply heading down from your bedroom to enjoy a great meal. The food was delicious, and having such a wonderful restaurant right there was a real bonus.
The highlight of our stay, though, was the exceptional customer service. We have to give a special thank-you to two incredible women named Teresa—one at the front desk and one in the restaurant. They were both genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and they made us feel like valued guests from the moment we arrived. It’s rare to find service that leaves such a lasting impression, but both Teresas did exactly that.
If you’re looking for a boutique hotel in downtown Charlotte that combines charm, comfort, outstanding food, and exceptional hospitality, we highly recommend the Ivy’s. We made wonderful family memories during our stay and will definitely be back!
The location. The hotel was nice. Elevator was out but staff was helpful getting bags.
Our floors were sticky.
The location was perfect as we attended a concert at Bank of America Stadium nearby. Beds were comfortable and shower/bathroom well appointed. Staff were friendly with one exception.
Parking: Valet understaffed resulted in waiting an hour to drop off and pick up car. Room was not ready once we got there at 5:20 despite a 4pm check in time. Check in assistant was curt and unfriendly despite room not being ready. Elevator was out of order for entire stay, my 77 year old mother was directed to stairs by the check in assistant. Staff elevators were operational but off limits. Carpet was wet, like a 3’x4’ section in front of the bed. Bathroom primary sconces did not work despite elaborate dimming capability throughout room.
I recently stayed at The Ivey and left feeling disappointed. The property is beautiful and the location is excellent, but the experience did not match the level of service and quality I expected for the price.
During my stay, one of the elevators was out of service, which created inconvenience throughout the hotel. More concerning was the condition of my shower. The drain was clogged, causing water to pool in the shower and rise like a bathtub while I was using it. This was unpleasant and should have been identified before the room was assigned to a guest.
The hallway also smelled like mildew and looked like they were cleaning up water damage, which added to my concerns about the overall condition of the property.
We were in Charlotte for the EY Entrepreneur Awards and requested a late checkout because our flight was not until 4:30 PM. We were told no, and when we asked if we could at least stay until 11:45 AM, we were again told no without any explanation. This was disappointing and not the level of customer service I expected.
The staff was friendly, and I did not report the shower issue during my stay, so I cannot speak to how it would have been handled. However, for a luxury hotel, basic room maintenance, functionality, and guest accommodations should not be overlooked.
Overall, this was not what I was expecting for the cost of a two-night . I hope this feedback is helpful and that these issues are addressed for future guests.
