We loved the location - beautiful gardens and easy access to restaurants in Montagu. Other plus points were the honesty bar, a fridge in our room, and the private stoep with comfortable chairs. Everything was done with care to ensure a comfortable stay for guests. The pool looked beautiful although we did not go in.
The only downside was the guest in the next room who was a smoker. The only way to avoid this is for us to stay in a totally non-smoking guest house or for the wall between the verandahs to go right up to the roof. It wouldn't stop us from booking here again as it was just bad luck.
Spacious, comfortable, clean facilities and wonderful staff, nice breakfasts. Perfectly located.
For some reason I could not get the aircon to work properly.
Ein sehr gemütliches Gästehaus mit einer sehr freundlichen Gastgeberin, die uns sogar einen Tisch zum Abendessen reserviert hat. Der wunderschöne Garten lädt zum Entspannen ein und vermittelt mitten in Montagu das Gefühl, sich in einem Weinberg zu befinden. Die Betten waren bequem und das Frühstück gut. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und unseren Aufenthalt genossen.

Not just relating to this accomodation
Kettle - this style common to hotels and guest houses in South Africa and in our experience they often fail to turn off and boil away. They also drip quite a lot which is a problem with hot water.
Location near restaurants,electric blankets and other facilities in the bedroom.Lounge with log fire.
Breakfast a little unconventional,no cold buffet,no choice of toast.

An incredible place to stay, with the best host I have ever encountered at a guesthouse. Exceptional breakfast and hospitality. Can’t wait to head back to this amazing place and town.
I strongly recommend the Vineyard Country House. Centrally located in beautiful, historic Montagu; quiet, restful, immaculate, tastefully furnished. Estelle is the perfect host. Looking forward to a return visit.
