I am writing to formally complain about our extremely disappointing stay at Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne Airport on August 8, 2026, and to request a full refund due to the unacceptable condition of the room and the lack of response after we reported these problems to the front desk.
My family and I traveled from San Diego to Irvine specifically to spend the night and have a pleasant family stay. We chose Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne Airport expecting the quality and cleanliness normally associated with the Hyatt brand. Unfortunately, this was literally one of the worst hotel experiences our family has ever had.

The condition of the room was unacceptable for a hotel stay at this price:
• The room was not properly clean when we arrived.
• The refrigerator was not working.
• The freezer was full of water and contained an ice cube container that was dirty.
• We had to clean the refrigerator and freezer ourselves simply to be able to use them.
• Even the bed sheets did not appear to be clean, which made us extremely uncomfortable sleeping in the room.
Most importantly, we did not simply leave these problems unreported. We contacted the front desk and informed them about the issues during our stay. Unfortunately, nothing meaningful was done to resolve the situation.
We traveled from San Diego to Irvine with my wife and son specifically expecting to have a comfortable and enjoyable night away from home. Instead, we spent part of our stay dealing with a dirty room and a non-functioning refrigerator/freezer, and we were left feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously.
Room is quiet, AC is no noise
the breakfast don't have vegetables and end at 9:30 am for weekdays, it will be better end at 10 am

The hotel staff and accommodations were as expected. The shuttle was available when I needed it at the airport and the staff was responsive and courteous. The room was clean however I did have to wait 30 minutes after check-in before it was ready. My only complaint is that they did not have safes in the rooms for my valuables. Other than that, I would stay there again.
It was clean and updated.
The shower had a strange configuration that made opening the faucet odd.

Under new ownership. Room was dirty, lights didn’t work, dirty linens outside room when arrived. Keep in mind housekeeping does light cleaning 2nd day of stay, and a full cleaning on the 5th day, when you are most likely gone. New assistant general manager Cindy Chen did not want to help with issues at all, claimed they were resolved. This used to be a great family stay, not anymore. I wouldn’t recommend.

One TV that had to be rotated between the bedroom and the living room; therefore if someone was in the bedroom watching TV then no one could watch TV in the living room and vice versa
Also the shower head was so close to the wall you couldn’t adjust it to where you wanted the water to go
Excellent hotel, airport shuttle service was efficient and friendly, good breakfast, I would be happy to stay here again.
Return stay for niece UCI graduation. Check in process went very smoothly. Rooms were large and well appointed. got to use the kitchen ammenities that came in handy. Room was clean and everything in working order. welcomed as a globalist. Hotel location is great- next to many eateries and shopping. close proximty to UCI and Costco for Fuel- Cali fuel is silly expensive. Breakfast was adequate for a hyatt hosue and convenient way to start your day. Would return and recommend to friends and family. Hyatt Regency is less then a block away. might have to try that property too.
Beyond the front entrance of this hotel is a spacious lobby that accommodates a business center, snack area and lobby seating area before being greeted by the two-member front desk hotel staff.
This is a very clean hotel that provides a wonderfully put-together complimentary full breakfast! They do offer limited lounge type foods including spirits late in the afternoon. Outside is a small pool area and/or quaint seating area to enjoy, to include an indoor gym. They also offer a free shuttle ride to the John Wayne Airport located 10 minutes away.
This hotel is simply perfect for travelers who appreciate the pleasure of relaxation, comfort and peace of mind away from "hustle and bustle" activities.
I would like to commend both Steffany and Hector (Front Desk Representatives) for their genuinely energetic and excellent customer service! The both of you are passionately driven to ensure guest experinces is held to the highest standards - amazing!!!
