Pinewood was the most amazing hotel. Our room overlooked the pool & the beach, a beautiful view from our balcony. The staff were fabulous- always friendly & nothing was too much for them. Food was excellent - we has breakfast on a terrace overlooking a pool full of koi carp, lunch at a beach bar & dinner alternated between the pool, the beach & the restaurant. A fabulous place to stay.
Greatest place to relax , peaceful, staff are so kind and friendly. Very well run , understated and natural surroundings. The plants and trees soften the landscape.
This was our 7th stay at Pinewood Beach Resort and the quality and standards our just as high as our first visit 14 years ago. The beauty of this resort for us is the style of accommodation, being individual blocks with 3 rooms in each block, with a total of 60 rooms. We love the spacious garden rooms with a great outside lounge area for that quiet and peaceful rest before dinner, and the upper rooms have spacious balconies to relax on. The food is excellent, with different themed dinners mainly on the beach front, with 2 Mongolian nights weekly on the poolside. No row upon row of sunbeds here, but discrete pairs of loungers near the beach under thatched covers. All the staff are so friendly, always with a smile and pleasant greeting, willing to help if needed. The swimming pools is a lovely feature, with a small swim-up bar, and an open kitchen-area serving lunches. There is also a super beach bar, again serving lunches with great views over the beach/sea, with a lounge bar at the reception block adjacent the breakfast area. We will certainly be back
We visited the Pinewood following a week on Safari it was the perfect location to relax and recover, the surroundings are sensational, that said it’s the staff that make Pinewood exceptional, a huge shoutout to Fikiri, Angela and Tina at the poolside bar.
The most magical stay staff are exceptional and go extra mile to make your holiday perfect will be coming back later this year
One thing about me is I have a very strong stomach. But this place managed to give me crazy food poisoning, I was on the toilet all night. And the best part is, the next day I was leaving and had to go on a 18 hour journey to get home. How did the pinewood hotel staff help me? Throw me out of my room at 9, when my pickup was at 10.30. After leaving a total of 300 dollars in tips during my stay, after them poisoning me with their dirty food, they couldn't let me lay in my room for another hour. Very very unprofessional. Would not recommend this hotel.
There are so many bushy areas that on the arrival day we couldn't find the reception, we kept driving from one corner to another before we could figure out where the entrance was, there was no one to guide us on that. The rooms and furniture are old, no TV in the rooms and the lighting in the rooms is so bad, no ceiling lights only table lamps and one wall light and all have shades.
The beach was not so clean, so full of sea weed. Some of the staff were friendly, some wouldn't even say a simple hello. My partner crossed paths with the general manager and she didn't even acknowledge him or say just a simple hello. The food was great , we enjoyed the Mongolian dinner. The fish pond at the main restaurant was beautiful and we got to feed the fish which was really nice.
On the last day after we checked out, we were sitting at the reception waiting for our taxi, when it arrived, we had to drag our suitcase to the taxi the lady lady and gentleman at the reception didn't even acknowledge we were leaving they were pretending to be busy to avoid us.
All the staff including the management need to do better on customer service.
We stayed for a week at the end of October after doing a safari in the Maasai Mara and we loved it! We had an ocean view room which was perfect for the pool and the beach. The whole place is very relaxed, mainly due to the way the staff look after you. They really are very good. Breakfast is special watching the weaver birds and the monkeys, I particularly enjoyed the Swahili breakfast choices. Lunch is very good with such beautiful views to the sea. The staff work very hard to change the venue for dinner - we had a bbq in the beach restaurant and a wok meal as alternatives to the main restaurant which is a great idea. I had a couple of lovely massages in the hotel spa which are very good value. We played boules a few times - Solomon was good fun and very competitive. Caleb at the beach bar was really friendly and we spent every evening chatting to him which we really enjoyed. Eunice and Moses were very attentive and made meal times special. And Teresa who cleaned our room went out of her way to look after us - she even stayed late one evening to wait for our bath robes to dry because she’d washed them. First class service. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel, it was definitely just what we needed after the safari (which was amazing too).
We ended our first safari holiday with 3 nights at Pinewood, and our 12 year old was thrilled. Spacious rooms (albeit somewhat dated decor - lamps took up entire night stands!), gorgeous grounds (koi pond, colorful warblers, baobab trees, jacaranda), poolside bar with the best staff (thanks Bakari, thanks Tito). We were able to rest and rejuvenate from the dusty safari trekking. There were plentiful breakfast for regional fare as well as egg and waffle stations, themed evening meals and daily activities like table tennis, volleyball. We even took a snorkel trip nearby that staff helped arrange. Somewhat off the beaten path from the airport, but we would highly recommend. It was a friendly family resort.
We stayed here for 11 nights with a two day trip on safari in the middle of the holiday
This hotel is truly wonderful such beautiful surroundings it’s spotlessly clean from the rooms to the restaurants to the gardens
The staff are all very polite and always attentive and have a smile on their faces
The evening meal organisation is wonderful moving from restaurant to eating round the pool or beach so much work put into this but all done very quietly and efficiently
Please be aware there are lots of very cheeky monkeys around we forgot to shut the bathroom window one morning and had the cleaner come to the beach to inform that we had visitors in the room he very graciously told us not to worry and he would clean up special thanks to him
My favourite spot was having breakfast outside watching the beautiful weaver birds and koi something very magical and peaceful
Once again thank you to all the staff that served and looked after us and made our stay so special
You are all a credit to the hotel
Once
We spent two wonderful weeks at the Pinewood Beach Resort at the end of September and the beginning of October. Watching the goldfish and the weaver birds from the restaurant and lounge area, which is surrounded by a pond, had something truly magical and touching about it. It’s simply fabulous to start the day there – and to be pleasantly surprised now and then by the sudden appearance of baboons or colobus monkeys.
Culinarily, Pinewood is a dream from breakfast to dinner – we enjoyed it sooo much and already miss it terribly. A lavish breakfast buffet, à la carte lunches, and themed dinners that change location and atmosphere – everything was simply perfect!
The chefs are always present at every meal, ready to fulfill almost any wish (if it isn’t already on offer). A round of applause to the grill chefs :-)
Night after night, they work their magic at the grill – with so much joy, as if the heat didn’t bother them at all.
Oh, and I mustn’t forget the wonderful Omena at Pinewood – truly the definition of customer centricity! Asanteni! :-)
Also the entire restaurant and kitchen team deserves a big well done! – everyone is incredibly attentive, respectful, charming, and funny. We had many lovely conversations with the wonderful staff, who are all great people.
Pinewood is a place where some guests stay only for a few days as a stopover, while others – like us – remain for two weeks or even longer and enjoy the deep relaxation the place offers.
A heartfelt thank-you to the hotel manager, who adds her loving touch and makes the whole experience even more special.
It was truly an honor to stay with you – and I could easily go on writing…
But let’s leave it at that for now – I’ll continue after our next visit!
Warm greetings to everyone on site.
What a gem of a place, the staff were all fantastic. A great, quiet resort, leading on to a white sandy beach. What more can you ask for.
Everyone was very friendly, the gardeners even took us around to see the monkeys and tortoises.
The food was amazing, everything cooked up fresh. The evening meal was rotated around the various restaurants, with a different theme every night.
The rooms were spacious and very clean, honestly we have nothing negative to say. It was lovely to relax by the pool, with plenty of sun beds. I even snuck in a relaxing massage, what a treat!
The beach was picturesque, white soft sand. We did one excursion to go snorkelling, organised through the manager at the resort. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and even swim with them. There was plenty of things to spot and a delicious seafood lunch, served on an island and all included in the price.
Our trip was too short! We will definitely be back for a longer stay.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay,
Katie, Roger and Cerys
Just had a weeks stay here after a week on safari. The hotel is idyllic, the service exceptional and the food incredible.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. A special thanks to Moses at the lunch restaurant and Charity and Feliz at dinner. They are an absolute credit to the hotel.
We had such a lovely stay. The customer service was excellent and amongst the best I’ve ever had! Pamela and her team couldn’t do enough. Kenyans are just so lovely! Too many names to mention. Special mention though to Rasta the dog ❤️ Rooms are huge and the beach is very quiet with white sand. Cocktails were strong from my favourite Barman 😆 Food was nice and fine for vegetarians. My husband went to Robinson island with one of our kids to snorkel. We walked it a few days later….only 11km!!! Would we go back? 100% but watch out for the cheeky monkeys and do not leave your doors open!
What a beautiful place, what a very kind team with a very great manager with delicious meals!
And the sightseeing, wonderfull!
Also the team is always ready to help if needed with a big smile. It’s not a staff, it’s a family!
A real place to go!
Asante sana!

We chose the Pinewood Beach Hotel as it appeared to be a quieter place and therefore good for relaxation; we chose well.
Pinewood Beach is about an hour’s drive south of Mombasa and one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The beach is beautiful white sand with a wonderfully warm Indian Ocean to swim in. The grounds are lush and well maintained and the different bar areas are excellent.
The food is varied with a strong mix of options at breakfast, a lunch menu to cater for kids with fussier tastes and different themes in the evening.
The highlight though is the staff, endlessly cheerful and helpful, a good attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble which makes everything easy and relaxing.
We wanted a quiet place to relax after our week on safari and this was perfect. This is not a huge bustling hotel with tons of people, it never felt anything but chilled. Would recommend to anyone and we will be coming back
Paradise in Diani Beach! This hotel is the dream come true for those of us who want to spend a little bit of time in exotic places with white sand, clear blue water and very comfortable accommodation along with pampering service. Not only the food for half board was always of the highest quality, the staff was changing venues for dinner from the indoor restaurant to the beach and pool every single day. I was watching in disbelief how much effort there was for the staff to relocate tables, chairs and food containers. At the end of the day everything was set up for guests to enjoy the meals followed by entertainment that was sensitively selected to complement rather to overpower the dinner itself.
We stayed in rooms 31 and 32. The aircon was very good. The rooms very clean. The shower was intermittent. The WiFi was intermittent. The staff were wonderful. The food was excellent. Breakfast with fresh fruit and local delicacies freshly cooked. The Mongolian bbq was excellent and the beach bbq also excellent. Boules/darts/table tennis/volleyball/football all enjoyable. A real mixture of nationalities. It is at the bottom end of beach. We had a massage on the beach with Maria who only charged 20 dollars for an hour. There is some seaweed on the beach. Walk left for 5 mins and there is a patch of golden sand with none. Out of the hotels control are the beach boys selling their wares. I appreciate the Kenyan hustle but it is every day. I recommend buying a bracelet or necklace early and wearing it then saying sorry already bought one and generally we were left alone. They are polite and not aggressive. They enjoy bartering and start really high. I suggest about 1/4 of their starting price. We bought a necklace for 5 US dollars. Bracelets for 2-3 US dollars. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Pinewood.
Fantastic experience at Pinewood because of (1) outstanding service from all staff, from housekeeping to front of house. Friendly and sincere staff, always willing to go over and above, (2) excellent food, excellent quality and excellent choice. Evening meals rotated between poolside, beach and main dining area, (3) decor and rooms fabulous, (4) beach quiet and clean, white sand and beautiful ocean at the doorstep. We will be back next year, nothing negative to write. Thank you Pinewood staff.
