Clean bed and bathroom everything else was filthy.
Other reviews had said much the same so I wasn’t surprised. It would be so easy to clean skirting boards which were absolutely thick with dirt.

Pros:

Super comfy bed, clean bed linen. Super central location, five minutes walk to train station, five minutes on the train to Stansted.
Quirky accomodation, great value for money.
We arrived well after midnight and no problem with getting access.

Cons:

TV didn't work, WiFi was patchy. Pane of glass missing from window but in a heatwave it was v welcome.
You are in the centre of town, so it's noisy at night.

Pros:

When we arrived at 6pm we discovered the shower mixer tap didn’t work in that it only let hot water through. As such no shower possible. We reported to the front of house. These things happen. While out for dinner they replaced the entire mixer unit so when we got back a few hours later it was perfect. I was not expecting that! Highly recommend The George.

You get what you pay for! Location was great and only a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Pros:

Great location and very comfy bed.

Cons:

No tv, internet very hit or miss. Had to borrow a phone to check in as mine didn’t work in the uk.

Great and convenient for us
Pros:

Location is great especially if you’re flying from Stansted which is what we did. It’s also right in the middle of the town so walkable distance to restaurants and shops. Staff were helpful, the night we stayed was very hot and we were provided a fan which we were very grateful for. Tea/coffee facilities available. Bathroom was fine, other than the water kept running in the toilet which was quite loud. Very happy with how much we paid to stay here for 1 night. We will stay here again if we fly from Stansted in the future

I made the booking for a friend of mine , hoping it was a nice , easy and convenient place to stay for the night. From the start it was so difficult to find the hotel. I have been given a number to call (from Booking.com) but whoever was supposed to answer the phone was not answering. After multiple calls finally someone called me back and surprisingly been asked where got this number from. I have been questioned about who gives me the number so many times. However it was not a 24 hour reception so we had to call for someone to come and give us the keys for our room. The most annoying thing was the bathroom and the condition of the ceiling. Black and mouldy ceiling. After a quick shower in about 2 hours my friend left the hotel. I felt so bad for my friend and his wife. Not recommended at all.
