Categories

Cleanliness
9.5
Rooms and property described as well maintained and recently remodeled; occasional issues noted in dining area (tables left messy, cutlery/plates dropped) but overall very clean.
Service
6.8
Repeated comments about apathetic, disinterested or inattentive staff (restaurant service slow, had to chase drinks, lack of initiative and supervision, parking not clearly communicated).
Location
9.6
Consistently praised — beautiful, central location in Luss village and perfect setting for the inn.
Room Quality
9.1
Rooms described as charming, cosy and comfortable after a recent remodel; beds and showers frequently praised (super comfy bed, amazing shower).
Amenities
9
Generally positive or unremarked beyond the refurb; parking setup caused a negative experience for at least one guest, but on balance amenities are viewed positively after the remodel.
Value for Money
7.2
Several guests felt food and some meals were expensive for what was received; expectation vs cost concerns for dinner portions and quality.
Food and Beverage
8.6
Food quality receives strong praise (excellent breakfast and many delicious meals) but F&B service and timing issues (slow service, some overcooked items) temper the score.
Overall Experience
9
Overall stays are very positive — beautiful property, cosy rooms and many friendly interactions — but recurring service/staffing issues in dining and parking friction reduce perfection.

Lovely Luxury on Loch Lomond
Pros:

What a lovely hotel! Located close to Loch Lomond, this lovely hotel was a wonderful place to stay. We were sorry we could only stay one night.

From the start, the service was top notch. The staff showed us to our room and pointed out multiple features, told us the story behind the hotel and the family, explained the art, and noted the many amenities, which included our own nespresso machine, chocolates, snacks, beverages and more. We rented a twin room and it was extremely comfortable.

The bathroom was gorgeous too - a strange thing to say- but it was, and it had a spacious shower and separate bath tub.

The grounds are quite lovely, with a sitting area in the back and an adorable den for beverages in the front. Everything about this place was top notch.

Perhaps the biggest delight was the breakfast, which included a massive continental spread and your choice of a hot item. I chose the vegan scotttish breakfast, which was outstanding. The bar was set high- too high- for the rest of our trip.

Despite the luxury feel, the hotel seemed reasonably priced compared to many places we stayed in. If you're visiting Loch Lomond - I would highly recommend staying here.

My only tiny gripe is that you need to reserve ahead of time if you want to eat in the restaurant, even if you're staying there. As we traveled throughout Scotland, we later found out that reserving for dinner was necessary but we had not been anticipating that.

Amazing place to stay
Pros:

Everything was of a high standard, clean tastefully decorated. But what made the hotel were the staff, Lindsay on reception was so professional with a very kind nature. But the person that made our stay wonderful was Margaret Ann the duty manager, she went above and beyond to help us in anyway she could (as my husband has terminal prostate cancer) so much so my husband stated at a drop of a hat he if possible would drive the 6 hour journey back to stay at the hotel. Also a big thank you to every other member of staff for making our stay wonderful

Cons:

Nothing

Stunning Loch Lomond Arms Hotel
Pros:

Stayed at the Loch Lomond Arms following recent refurbishment. The Hotel is full of charm and character. Our bedroom had its own unique story and tales of the Colquhoun Clan. Following cocktails in the map room we had fabulous dinner in The Treasury restaurant. Dinner was delicious and staff extremely attentive. The evening was topped off with a romantic walk down to Luss Pier overlooking the Loch.

Lovely place
Pros:

The hotel was very nice, outside space was great for a drink, dinner was very good, room was comfortable and clean and individually decorated, and finally the breakfast (food wise) was as good as you would expect! Although there were issues at breakfast, see below.

Cons:

A hotel vehicle was blocking the EV charger when I arrived, it was moved after asking but this is annoying and the hotel should show others this is not ok as per the signage. At dinner it felt the room was over staffed (no issue, just felt there were more staff then needed) but at breakfast it seemed they were understaffed with tables not cleared in a timely manner. Cleaners were cleaning the room where the continental breakfast items were at 9am, it would have been better to do that after 10am when the breakfast was finished. They also hoovered the entrance which again could have been done once the breakfast was done. Finally, a contractor came to clean the toilets and used the dining room as a walkway (breakfast), I am sure there was an alternative route. Seemed there was no management at breakfast which really let the place down, and certainly for a hotel pitching 400-500 a night should do better!

A wonderful stay at a cracking wee hotel!
Pros:

A wonderful stay at the newly refurbished Loch Lomond Arms. As a family we have stayed a few times at the hotel before its transformation earlier in the year. What a difference, it was great before but now it is fantastic! more spacious and luxurious thanks to some well thought out changes in space. A fantastic afternoon on the sun terrace, a fabulous evening meal and a great night's sleep in the well appointed rooms. The history of the Clan Colquhoun greets you around every corner and adds a little bit more magic to the experience. Will be back soon!
