Location and restaurant
The room was shabby. There was no internet on the tv.
The staff was over the top and helping us in any way. Very friendly. You felt very comfortable throughout the stay.
There needs to be a little bit more lighting in the bathroom. It was hard to see.
The staff was really great. The rooms were unbelievably roomy. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
Needed more light in the bathroom.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Duniway! The location was good, and in walking distance to many of the things I wanted to see and do in PDX. The rooms were really comfortable and clean, and I slept well - relatively little noise, and comfortable beds. I also enjoyed how friendly and helpful the staff were, as they provided a bunch of recommendations for places to eat and how best to get around the city. I definitely recommend staying here!
Very nice hotel. Had character.
Excellent bed and pillows.
Everything!

The location was perfect for our stay. The hotel was very nice and clean, very fancy looking. The beds very comfy and soft sheets. The restaurant breakfast was delicious. The gym was great. Easy parking right next door and a lot cheaper than most places. The rooftop courtyard was really cool, it was a perfect night to check it out.
Our room opened up to the rooftop courtyard, so I didn't really feel comfortable having the curtains open. Not a huge deal though, and the courtyard itself was pretty cool.
For the life of me, I couldn't get the fancy coffee maker to work, even after reading directions and watching how to videos. I'm still thinking about that defeat and what the coffee would have tasted like. 😆
Very disappointing experience for an Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts property.
After reading other reviews, I can now see that my experience was not isolated. The hotel looks modern, but the service does not match the premium branding or expectations associated with Amex Platinum benefits.
I arrived at 9:30 AM and was told I would need to pay extra for early check-in. There was also no room upgrade offered, despite booking through Fine Hotels + Resorts. The front desk interaction felt cold and unwelcoming, and the staff member assisting me seemed visibly irritated.
Several other reviews mention inconsistent service, unfriendly staff, and benefits not being handled as expected, and unfortunately that was exactly my experience as well.
This property may work as a standard hotel stay, but it does not deliver the level of hospitality I would expect from a Fine Hotels + Resorts hotel.
Was clean, centrally located, and parking secured 24hrs a day.
$4.00 for a bottle of water? Should be complimentary in each room. We need water like wtf?
I loved how clean everything was — both the lobby and the rooms smelled fresh and spotless. I absolutely loved the blackout curtains; they are the best I’ve ever experienced in any hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable, and so were the pillows. The location is perfect, close to all the nice spots in downtown.
Everything was excellent. The staff was exceptional. Location worked out perfectly.
The only complaint I had about the whole stay was that the showers had about as much water pressure as an eye dropper.
This was the most disappointing hotel experience. Rude front desk, we tried to plan something special for our 30th wedding anniversary and this was the biggest disappointment.
We were very excited to receive a 2 night stay in Portland. We choose the Duniway from a list of choices due to their reviews. The hotel’s location was great but we were met with several employees that acted as though we were an imposition when needing their help in any way- such as do I need to check out with you. At check-in, we were asked for our Am Ex card. We don’t have one. She said that’s too bad now we can’t get any of the benefits. (Free breakfast, upgraded room and late check out). I explained the room was a gift from my kids. It didn’t matter. She had a very condescending manner. Next problem began when we got to our room and found the headboard to be peeling. It was very off putting for a 4 star hotel. I called the desk to get a new room. She finally said I could but it wouldn’t be any better. At the point, I felt as though there would be no point in moving as there was no apology only lots of excuses about the rooms condition.
Staff was so lovely. Front desk person at check in was absolutely amazing!
Shower was kinda grimy with black, squishy build up all between the floor tiles. That was the only thing I had complaints about.
We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our pacific west coast trip a the hotel was great, very comfortable and clean and the reception team were very helpful and friendly.
It had a. Pool and gym (we didn’t use - JETLAG) but looked great.
It was an easy walk to most things from here, very close to the premium shops and the river.
The water pressure in the shower wasn’t very strong so just be prepared for a slightly longer shower
