Le Mount Stephen

Absolutely one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. Just lovely on all levels.

The hotel facility is wonderful. Great location, beautiful and quiet rooms. Booked through Trip Advisor and while checking in the hotel front desk claimed it had a lesser room reserved for me than what I booked. I showed my confirmation reservation. They nonetheless claimed that my reservation is not what was actually booked by Trip Advisor. Fortunately the hotel accommodated me anyway - likely because the hotel was not very full. I contacted Trip Advisor but their support team seemed very unconcerned. Don’t think I’ll ever book with Trip Advisor again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Le Mount Stephen. Both the hotel and our room were extremely clean. Everything in our room functioned properly and every singe staff member we interacted with was pleasant. The one type of bottled water they provide is included with the room, which is very convenient for those who are going out and about. Also, there was an electric kettle in our room so if you’re a tea drinker, you can actually have a cup of tea that is not brewed in the same machine as coffee, and therefore does not taste like coffee. The chromotherapy shower is wonderful as is the shower water pressure. We had a few questions regarding directions and food, so we visited the concierge one afternoon. His name was Michael and he was VERY helpful. We cannot comment on Bar George, as we unfortunately did not have the time to visit it. There is construction going on near the hotel, so be aware of that if walking or driving in the area, as your smartphone directions may be incorrect. The construction did not cause noise to be heard in our room. It was a very quiet room. My husband joined the Leaders Club prior to our hotel visit. However, I was the one who made the reservation. Therefore, we were not able to take advantage of any of the benefits of the Leader’s Club during our stay. We were okay with that, but if the Leaders Club benefits are important to you, please make sure the person who is a member is also the one making the reservations.

This hotel is in a good location. a/c, black out shades, room was clean, water pressure, bed all good. Closet space minimal. Staff friendly. Biggest negative is we had a junior suite - and the room was one big open box. The bathroom, directly across from the bed. The bathroom is frosted glass with a sliding frosted glass door. So this is not good for light nor noise. Never really seen a room with this layout. Bar is hopping but $. Main dining room food was fair. Breakfast was included in my deal, I was solo, waiter rang me up for 2 people, I think larger tip for him. We did have dog nearby that was barking for bit. LHW member, didn't get upgraded. A buddy of mine, who checked in after me, got upgrade to a nicer room then me. They could have upgraded me, then upgraded him to my room. So I know one was available. Because of this room layout, I would not stay here again, and next time in Montreal, I would try another hotel.

This is an outstanding hotel with A+ beds, showers, and service. Special commendation to Alex.

La ubicación es estupenda. Muy cerca del museo de bellas artes y se puede llegar a muchos sitios de interés caminando. Todos los que nos atendieron fueron amabilísimos.

Wonderful downtown Hotel in Montreal . Nicely decorated rooms and public areas (check the restaurant) , we stayed in a king suite. As a professional traveler , I would recommend it to well-heeled travelers

Le Mount Stephen is a fantastic hotel. Service was over the top. You definitely have to go to Bar George for cocktails and supper. The rooms are huge and so comfortable. Definitely my go to hotel when I return to Montreal.

We had an excellent stay at Le Mount Stephen. The overall feel is modern and genuinely luxurious, with thoughtful design details that made it easy to relax after long days out in Montreal.

Room & sleep quality: The room was spacious and very comfortable. The layout is long and a bit narrower than many hotel rooms, but it worked well and didn’t feel cramped. The automated blackout blinds were a standout—when lowered, the room became impressively dark, and the additional curtains softened the look and made the space feel warmer. The room was also quiet, which mattered a lot during the Montreal Jazz Festival week.

Service: Service was consistently strong. Room service was excellent, and turndown service happened reliably each evening—exactly the kind of polish you want in a luxury property.

Bathroom: The bathroom was a highlight and felt truly premium. Great amenities/products, a Kohler bidet, and a Kohler rain shower with genuinely strong water pressure. The shower lighting and the soaking tub made it feel spa-like, and it was a pleasure to come back to at the end of the day.

Dining: Bar George is a real asset on property. Breakfast was consistently delicious, and the lunch menu was excellent as well—scallop curd and frites were favorites.

Location: The hotel is close enough to the main action for an easy, affordable Uber ride, but far enough that we had no festival noise once we returned to the room. That balance made it an ideal home base.

Overall, Le Mount Stephen delivered a high-end, comfortable, well-run experience, and we would gladly return.

Amazing historical entrance and lovely hotel. All staff were outstanding from check-in to check-out. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and were treated very special. Bar George at the hotel a must to have a drink! Great location.

From the superb and welcoming staff to my comfortable night on the 8th floor, I had the best night at the Mount Stephen last week.

If you love, beautiful bathrooms with state-of-the-art showers and bathtubs, thick hundred percent cotton robes and towels, you are in for a treat. You will never wanna leave this bathroom, with great water pressure and a drenching shower, with steam and colored lights. There’s nothing comparable to these clean and luxurious bathrooms.

Beautiful hotel, centrally located, great restaurant, clean, modern facilities...but the best part is the staff! You will be hard pressed to meet a friendly group of people.

It’s historic roots; Bar George; comfortable modern room

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and most luxurious and comfortable. Service and staff are exemplary. The Bar George Restaurant is five star- an absolute must even if not staying in the hotel. The bathrooms are true luxury and the technology of the room was perfect. Perfect climate control- precise and never drafty! Great location and quiet. We plan to return to Montreal and will choose this hotel again.
