A luxurious retreat in the gem of Ireland.
Pros:

The location is exquisite. Whoever did the interior design also did a superb job.

Cons:

Gym was under renovation and we were not aware of that at time of booking, which was disappointing.

This Hotel Delivers On It’s Promise
Pros:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Park Hotel Kenmare. The location was perfect as it was an easy walk to town and adjacent the Kenmare Golf Club. Our room was nicely appointed and good in size. The staff and service at check in and while dining were lovely. Very friendly, professional and attentive. The hotel was clean, the grounds were beautiful and the atmosphere was quiet and very enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Pro Tip: not all rooms have air conditioning. Inquire when making reservations if you prefer a room with individual climate control.

Pros:

Absolutely a must when planning to visit Kenmare. This hotel is right in town yet you would never know it. It is nestled off of Shelbourne Rd and the views from the hotel are amazing. You will be able to sit and view the mountains from your room, the restaurant and the bar. The music from the pianist in the evenings is heart warming. The only thing we missed out on was the spa which was under renovation and due to open in August. I was able to do yoga each morning with Katie who was just hired as their spa manager and comes from the US. It was great to be able to start my days this way.

Comfortable Stay with Friendly Service
Pros:

My wife and I stayed one night at the Park Hotel Kenmare during an eight-day trip through southwest Ireland. We booked a king room on a bed-and-breakfast rate and found the service friendly and prompt throughout our stay.

The room was clean and comfortable. There was no air conditioning, but the hotel had been clear about that in advance, so it was neither a surprise nor a complaint. The only real drawback was an odd mildew smell in the bathroom area, likely related to the age of the property. Fortunately, simply closing the bathroom door took care of it.

Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay in a charming older hotel.

Park Hotel Kenmare - A piece of Heaven on Earth
Pros:

Having just returned from an amazing few days in PKH with some friends, I could not recommend the Hotel more highly to anyone. The Park Kenmare Hotel in Kerry is one of those rare places that feels both quietly luxurious and deeply personal. It is elegant and welcoming in a way that immediately makes you slow down and settle in.

The staff are a huge part of what makes the hotel so special. Everyone we encountered was warm, attentive, and thoughtful, with that wonderful ability to be present exactly when needed and discreet when not. The service feels sincere rather than scripted, which is increasingly rare and all the more memorable. One of the highlights was Harvey the barman, who recommended a delightful Irish whiskey for us all, after an amazing meal. After many Whiskeys were consumed late in the evening, Harvey without being asked and with perfect timing arrived with some well deserved toasted sandwiches at 1am, to the delight of us all.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with a calm, timeless atmosphere that suits its setting perfectly. The artwork throughout the property deserves particular mention. It gives the hotel character and depth, adding a sense of culture and individuality rather than the bland sameness that can sometimes define luxury hotels. Sitting down at breakfast, enjoying a morning coffee, with views of the Kerry landscape out one window and then to the left of you, stunning pieces of Sean Scully artwork. It is like a battle between nature and man trying to capture your attention. All you can do is admire, order another coffee and let the battle resume.

What stays with you most, though, is the tranquility. The Park Kenmare has a peacefulness that is hard to manufacture. Kerry’s natural beauty surrounds the hotel, but inside there is also a stillness and sense of escape that makes it easy to properly unwind. It is the kind of place where mornings feel slower, conversations feel easier, and time seems to stretch in the best possible way.

For anyone looking for a beautiful retreat in one of Ireland’s most special settings, it is a truly outstanding choice and somewhere I would happily return to. Well done Mark and Team.

Superb Park Hotel Kenmare
Pros:

Our two-night stay at the Park Hotel Kenmare was an absolute delight. It is rare to find a hotel that manages to honour its history while embracing such an exciting new vision, but the transformation here has been beautifully judged.

The restoration of the rooms is exceptional—elegant, understated and wonderfully comfortable, retaining all the character of this historic hotel while introducing a fresh sense of style. Every detail feels considered, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel is warm, relaxed and quietly luxurious.

What impressed us most was the extraordinary collection of contemporary art woven throughout the building. Rather than simply decorating the walls, the art becomes part of the experience, inviting you to pause, reflect and discover something new around every corner. Seeing works by artists such as Sean Scully, Dorothy Cross, Elizabeth Columba, Guggi, Theaster Gates, Park Seo-Bo and even Andy Warhol in the setting of a grand Victorian hotel creates a remarkable dialogue between old and new. It’s unlike any hotel collection we’ve encountered and elevates the entire experience. (Park Hotel Kenmare)

The staff deserve equal praise. Every member of the team was genuinely welcoming, attentive and effortlessly helpful, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived.

The gardens are beautifully maintained and provide a wonderfully peaceful setting, while the hotel’s location is perfect—just a short stroll into the heart of Kenmare, with its excellent restaurants, charming streets and wonderful galleries.

It’s also exciting to see the investment continuing with the new spa currently under construction. If the care and attention that’s gone into every other aspect of the hotel is anything to go by, it promises to be something very special. We already have an excellent reason to return when it opens.

The Park Hotel Kenmare has always been a special place, but it now feels as though it is entering a remarkable new chapter. We left thoroughly impressed and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Friendly, unforgettable 5* experience
Pros:

We stayed in The Park Kenmare for 1 night to kick off our summer holidays in Kerry. From the moment we pulled up we were warmly greeted, helped with luggage and invited inside. Mark at reception gave us refreshments and a little tour of the facilities in the main house. He made us feel welcome with 2 kids and was so knowledgeable about the art and area. Our room was beautiful and the turndown service was a lovely touch. The food was the best we have tasted anywhere, both dinner and breakfast! The pool facilities are so tastefully done and have everything you could need. We can't wait to return from Offaly and see the new renovations. 5* experience. Thank you.

Exceptional, quirky, inclusive — a unique moment around every corner
Pros:

This is a hotel in transition from proud Victorian mainstay to eclectic reinvention. The staff at all levels chat with you about the vision of the new owner who is bringing in his exceptional modern art collection, shutting and renovating some areas and reinventing others. You can’t tell right away who is the owner or brother of the owner or waitress or upstairs neighbor with a chef — these folks seem to know abd care about each other and treat guests like old friends. Though the vibe is dynamic it doesn’t feel like a construction zone but more so an energetic presence that is part of its community, not isolated behind a gate. Art includes themes about human rights and women (we were told by a former porter-turned-art-collection-docent that the owner’s female relatives helped inspire this). As an example of a cute detail, turn-down service left a vintage radio bedside playing a Wagner opera, which actually felt about right at the end of the day. Loved the food, the risotto was a top 5 vegetarian meal of my life. Old gardens with a magical view of the water. I would travel back just to visit this hotel again and see what creative changes are underway. Such a kind staff team. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Lovely stay in Kenmare.
Pros:

I last visited this hotel in 1996 (30 years ago!) and finally returned. The hotel has since been purchased and is in the process of being renovated. Our room was beautiful and the view out to the back of the property was gorgeous. Service was perfect and we enjoyed conversation with other guests at the small, cozy bar in the evenings. They are in the process of adding a few new rooms which would be nice to check out. Some rooms have yet to be renovated so ask before you book. Love this hotel. It was the highlight of our trip to Ireland! And the town of Kenmare was also our favorite town.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Memorable Evening at Park Hotel Kenmare
Pros:

Mo Farm recently managed to steal a rare evening away from the farm to attend the Music at the Park event featuring Martin Hayes and Peadar Ó Riada, and what an exceptional experience it was.

The journey began before we even arrived. A special mention to Allie on reception, who went above and beyond to help secure tickets and ensure everything was arranged seamlessly. Her warmth, professionalism and willingness to help set the tone for what proved to be a wonderful evening.

Dinner beforehand was equally impressive. Zoe, our waitress, delivered service that perfectly balanced professionalism with genuine warmth and a great sense of humour. Every detail was looked after with care and attention. The hospitality was outstanding, and the food was simply superb.

The concert itself was magical, but what really stood out was the complete experience created by the Park Hotel team. From the first phone call to the final farewell, every interaction reflected the highest standards of hospitality.

For anyone considering a visit to Kenmare, the Park Hotel offers something increasingly rare: genuine service, exceptional food, and unforgettable experiences delivered by people who clearly care about what they do.

A sincere thank you to Allie, Zoe, and the entire team for a wonderful evening. We will certainly be back. 🍀🎻✨

Weekend getaway
Pros:

Excellent stay at the Park hotel for the weekend. We genuinely couldn't compliment the staff, food or location enough. The hotel was spotless, regularly cleaned, rooms were very comfortable with stunning views.
We had breakfast 2 mornings and Dinner in the Landline both evenings also, everything we had to eat was fresh and superbly cooked. Every member of staff was friendly, chatty and helpful, we couldn't have had a better stay. We would highly recommend.

It is a good hotel, but not quite what we had expected from our previous visit.
Pros:

Our initial room was very nice, but due to building works at the hotel, was extremely noisy. We were moved to another room, much quieter, but not as nice as the initial room. The hotel food was very nice, but quite expensive. The pool was terrific, as were the views from the hotel. The grounds are excellent, with lovely views.

Cons:

We felt that the hotel decor had not been improved by the changes implemented since our previous visit, some 8 years ago. The updates, including wooden floors, modern paintings seemed to be part of a modernisation programme, so the hotel had lost some of the 'Old World' charm we loved.

Excellent Service in a Beautiful Setting.
Pros:

Kenmare was our base for our visit to the Ring of Kerry and the Park Hotel was a wonderful hotel to experience this lovely area of Ireland. There are many areas of the hotel to enjoy especialy the gardens and walk along Kenmare Bay. We loved using the pool and sauna every night to relax with everything a person could need such as slippers, robes, swimsuit drying etc. Be sure to take the Art Tour to learn about the owner's extensive collection and the Forest Tour to learn about the lovely setting.
We had a wonderful large room with sitting area that had one of the best views of the bay. The bathroom had been recently renovated which was very large with a nice soaking tub and separate shower. In-room snacks and drinks showed the hotel really wanted to make a guest's stay as pleasant as possible. We found the food at the hotel to be excellent. Upon our arrival we had a light lunch in the lounge area which I really recommend. Breakfast each morning was delicious with an extensive menu. After a long day of touring, we decided to order room service which was excellent and reasonably priced. I also recommend the nearby restaurant The Lime Tree Inn for an excellent dinner. It is walking distance through a short-cut in the parking lot.
We found the service to be excellent and I wished I remembered everyone's name to thank them in this review (such as Jude and the red-hair gentleman at the bar). You could tell they took a lot of pride in their job and wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. One tip to pass along is if you have a Chase Reserve credit card to book using the Chase Edit program. It gave us a $250 discount, room upgrade including late check-out, breakfast and a $100 hotel credit (which we used for room service).

Pros:

We didnt stay the the hotel however we were recommended the art tour at 5pm each evening lead by Jonathan. It was a really nice way to get to know the hotel and we had a few cocktails afterwards which were unreal! Jonathan was very knowledgable and enthusiastic, we really appreciated the time he took to show us around.

Beware! Greed over service.
Pros:

Worst experience ever! Beware of this hotel, I booked 9 months in advance and confirmed my stay. They kicked me out for a higher paying customer.

Cons:

Service does not compare to what it was under the new ownership.

A wonderful 2-night stay in Kenmare!
Pros:

What a beautiful, quaint hotel! We stayed for 2 nights (my mom and I) and it was just darling. The service was very top-notch and Mark made sure we were welcomed warmly and had everything we needed. He's great!

We had breakfast every morning on property and it was wonderful. Service was a bit slow at times but the food was made-to-order and delicious! Will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area!

Lovely experience (with a few hiccups)
Pros:

This is a difficult review for us to put together.  On one hand, there was so much to like at Park Hotel Kenmare:  The idyllic setting with its lush garden overlooking Kenmare Bay; richly detailed interior spaces; plenty of public spaces to relax, anytime of day, some with even a steady supply of tea and snacks.  We loved the library with its selection of books and a collection of photographs by Gilles Caron on the walls. Our spacious  room has a comfortable sitting area with a lovely view; Grown Alchemist bath amenities; pampering daily replenishes of in-room snacks, tea selection, Blue Bottle coffee, even fresh milk in the mini fridge, etc..

Dinner and breakfast were all superb:  Fresh, delicious, so well-prepared, and so beautifully presented.

The display of the owner's private art collection is a true gem.  It  introduces  guests, up close, to a truly eclectic world of contemporary art.  Moreover, in our opinion, the art did not detract from the traditional interiors but instead artfully added a refreshing brightness and visual focus.  (Please do go on the in-house art tour:  It was informative with just the right balance of details and breath.)

All this seemed a world away but was in fact just a few steps around the corner from the colorful and picturesque town of Kenmare!

So why not an unequivocal 5-star?  The service was uneven.  We believe the staff was well-intentioned, but there were enough service gaps to be noticeable.  For a 5-star Relais & Chateaux property, the doorman was often not at the door.  The staff was always gracious and polite, but housekeeping and turndown services were inexplicably early every day and evening during our 3-night stay (as early as at 9 or 9:30 in the morning or before dinner, respectively).   Breakfast was scrumptious, when we were finally attended, when juice or water was offered, or when the fruit compote was actually served with the porridge that supposedly should have come with.

We are not picky travelers, so we mention these gaps not to be petty.  But when these minor lapses kept recurring over the 3-night stay, we had to ask "why" in  what  was otherwise a lovely experience.  We had the opportunity to say " hello" to Bryan and Tara Meehan during our stay.  Their very warm, kind and  personable greetings suggested a genuine commitment to make Park Hotel Kenmare a welcoming corner where guests can luxuriate in the beauty and hospitality of Ireland.

Hospitality at its Finest
Pros:

We had a wonderful three-night midweek stay at luxurious Park Hotel in Kenmare in April 2026. After a very long journey due to the fuel protests, we were relieved to finally arrive in Kenmare. We chose to stay at the Park Hotel because we love Kenmare and have enjoyed many delicious meals at the hotel over the years. We had always wanted to stay at the hotel and our recent trip definitely exceeded our expectations.

The Park Hotel really is a stunning hotel, perfectly located in the centre of Kenmare, yet it somehow retains a peaceful countryside feel, tucked away within expansive, mature grounds that are tranquil and beautiful. On arrival, our welcome was mighty! We were all exhausted after the journey down, but Jonathan, one of the hotel porters, greeted us very warmly, coming out to meet us in the car park. His gentle manner and sharp wit made an immediate good impression. He effortlessly guided and assisted us into the hotel, which was exactly what we needed after the long trip. We enjoyed chatting to Jonathan again during his Art Tour of the hotel. His knowledge and detail was impressive as was his love of the art in the hotel.

Our check in was smooth and efficient. We were offered a welcome drink and shown to our room in no time. The hotel itself is light filled with stunning modern artwork throughout. It is a joy to simply walk through the space. Theaster Gates was a new discovery for us, and we greatly admired his work in the reception and lobby. We also loved discovering all the art in the building and enjoyed the hidden installation in the main reception area!

We were fortunate to stay in a spacious, stylish and thoughtfully designed balcony room with superb views over the grounds and Kenmare Bay. It was so wonderful to wake up to the view of the gardens and across the bay. The room was perfectly clean (and we are fussy). The personal touches in the room were noteworthy and we all appreciated having the small snacks etc. I have some back issues and found the mattress a little too soft. However, after mentioning it to Grace, the fantastic manager at the Park, the issue was addressed immediately and without hesitation. She followed up with us during our stay, which we really appreciated and assisted with organising other aspects of our trip which made a big difference to our stay. The hotel itself is so central that we found it easy to go for walks around the town and truly appreciate the area. It was great not having to use the car!

Breakfast each morning was delicious, with plenty of choice, served in a beautiful bright setting, surrounded by art. Afternoon tea was also very enjoyable—especially the cream cake on the Wednesday! There are lots of quiet corners to sit and just appreciate the art and relax. The staff were all attentive without being intrusive. We had dinner in the Landline, which was also good although a slightly wider menu selection would have been better for longer stays.

The level of hospitality at the Park sets it apart from other hotels. Every member of staff greets you warmly and takes an interest in you. This creates such a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere in every part of the hotel. During our stay, we met the owners Bryan and Tara who took the time to say hello to everyone. We were very struck by the sense that the team there care deeply about their guests and take pride in delivering a high level of service. Everyone there is friendly, down-to-earth and attentive throughout our stay.

There were so many wonderful staff at the Park, but in addition to Grace and Jonathan, we would like to mention Elena, Louise, and Lukas at breakfast and dinner; all the lovely reception staff, Joel, who looked after our room so well and Karina in the Spa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I have actually just booked our return stay!
