Beware! Greed over service.
Pros:

Worst experience ever! Beware of this hotel, I booked 9 months in advance and confirmed my stay. They kicked me out for a higher paying customer.

Cons:

Service does not compare to what it was under the new ownership.

A wonderful 2-night stay in Kenmare!
Pros:

What a beautiful, quaint hotel! We stayed for 2 nights (my mom and I) and it was just darling. The service was very top-notch and Mark made sure we were welcomed warmly and had everything we needed. He's great!

We had breakfast every morning on property and it was wonderful. Service was a bit slow at times but the food was made-to-order and delicious! Will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area!

Lovely experience (with a few hiccups)
Pros:

This is a difficult review for us to put together.  On one hand, there was so much to like at Park Hotel Kenmare:  The idyllic setting with its lush garden overlooking Kenmare Bay; richly detailed interior spaces; plenty of public spaces to relax, anytime of day, some with even a steady supply of tea and snacks.  We loved the library with its selection of books and a collection of photographs by Gilles Caron on the walls. Our spacious  room has a comfortable sitting area with a lovely view; Grown Alchemist bath amenities; pampering daily replenishes of in-room snacks, tea selection, Blue Bottle coffee, even fresh milk in the mini fridge, etc..

Dinner and breakfast were all superb:  Fresh, delicious, so well-prepared, and so beautifully presented.

The display of the owner's private art collection is a true gem.  It  introduces  guests, up close, to a truly eclectic world of contemporary art.  Moreover, in our opinion, the art did not detract from the traditional interiors but instead artfully added a refreshing brightness and visual focus.  (Please do go on the in-house art tour:  It was informative with just the right balance of details and breath.)

All this seemed a world away but was in fact just a few steps around the corner from the colorful and picturesque town of Kenmare!

So why not an unequivocal 5-star?  The service was uneven.  We believe the staff was well-intentioned, but there were enough service gaps to be noticeable.  For a 5-star Relais & Chateaux property, the doorman was often not at the door.  The staff was always gracious and polite, but housekeeping and turndown services were inexplicably early every day and evening during our 3-night stay (as early as at 9 or 9:30 in the morning or before dinner, respectively).   Breakfast was scrumptious, when we were finally attended, when juice or water was offered, or when the fruit compote was actually served with the porridge that supposedly should have come with.

We are not picky travelers, so we mention these gaps not to be petty.  But when these minor lapses kept recurring over the 3-night stay, we had to ask "why" in  what  was otherwise a lovely experience.  We had the opportunity to say " hello" to Bryan and Tara Meehan during our stay.  Their very warm, kind and  personable greetings suggested a genuine commitment to make Park Hotel Kenmare a welcoming corner where guests can luxuriate in the beauty and hospitality of Ireland.

Hospitality at its Finest
Pros:

We had a wonderful three-night midweek stay at luxurious Park Hotel in Kenmare in April 2026. After a very long journey due to the fuel protests, we were relieved to finally arrive in Kenmare. We chose to stay at the Park Hotel because we love Kenmare and have enjoyed many delicious meals at the hotel over the years. We had always wanted to stay at the hotel and our recent trip definitely exceeded our expectations.

The Park Hotel really is a stunning hotel, perfectly located in the centre of Kenmare, yet it somehow retains a peaceful countryside feel, tucked away within expansive, mature grounds that are tranquil and beautiful. On arrival, our welcome was mighty! We were all exhausted after the journey down, but Jonathan, one of the hotel porters, greeted us very warmly, coming out to meet us in the car park. His gentle manner and sharp wit made an immediate good impression. He effortlessly guided and assisted us into the hotel, which was exactly what we needed after the long trip. We enjoyed chatting to Jonathan again during his Art Tour of the hotel. His knowledge and detail was impressive as was his love of the art in the hotel.

Our check in was smooth and efficient. We were offered a welcome drink and shown to our room in no time. The hotel itself is light filled with stunning modern artwork throughout. It is a joy to simply walk through the space. Theaster Gates was a new discovery for us, and we greatly admired his work in the reception and lobby. We also loved discovering all the art in the building and enjoyed the hidden installation in the main reception area!

We were fortunate to stay in a spacious, stylish and thoughtfully designed balcony room with superb views over the grounds and Kenmare Bay. It was so wonderful to wake up to the view of the gardens and across the bay. The room was perfectly clean (and we are fussy). The personal touches in the room were noteworthy and we all appreciated having the small snacks etc. I have some back issues and found the mattress a little too soft. However, after mentioning it to Grace, the fantastic manager at the Park, the issue was addressed immediately and without hesitation. She followed up with us during our stay, which we really appreciated and assisted with organising other aspects of our trip which made a big difference to our stay. The hotel itself is so central that we found it easy to go for walks around the town and truly appreciate the area. It was great not having to use the car!

Breakfast each morning was delicious, with plenty of choice, served in a beautiful bright setting, surrounded by art. Afternoon tea was also very enjoyable—especially the cream cake on the Wednesday! There are lots of quiet corners to sit and just appreciate the art and relax. The staff were all attentive without being intrusive. We had dinner in the Landline, which was also good although a slightly wider menu selection would have been better for longer stays.

The level of hospitality at the Park sets it apart from other hotels. Every member of staff greets you warmly and takes an interest in you. This creates such a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere in every part of the hotel. During our stay, we met the owners Bryan and Tara who took the time to say hello to everyone. We were very struck by the sense that the team there care deeply about their guests and take pride in delivering a high level of service. Everyone there is friendly, down-to-earth and attentive throughout our stay.

There were so many wonderful staff at the Park, but in addition to Grace and Jonathan, we would like to mention Elena, Louise, and Lukas at breakfast and dinner; all the lovely reception staff, Joel, who looked after our room so well and Karina in the Spa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I have actually just booked our return stay!

Mid-week two-night stay
Pros:

Top notch old school hospitality. This was our first time here and definitely met or exceeded expectations. We stayed two nights and availed of most of what's on offer. We ate in the first night and sampled the town the second night. Tried the pool, which was a great addition, if a bit of a walk away. The garden and nearby water park is a considerable plus too. Live music (piano player) is a lovely touch. Complementary afternoon tea is a bonus also. Thanks to all the staff.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff
Pros:

The hotel is situated an ideal area of town - just off the main drag with ample parking. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We were staying with two small children and unlike some places that claim to welcome children but then don’t seem too keen on them being there, Park Hotel went above and beyond for my kids. They asked their names and ages ahead of time in order to have custom cookies with their names waiting for them, as well as properly sized little robes for them. The family suite was ideal for our family and the kids loved the bunk beds. We ate both lunch and dinner in the garden room and had amazing meals.

Cons:

The property is currently undergoing some extensive renovations (which is not meant as a fault, it’s a necessary part of the passage of time). The current walk to the pool area is not ideal as it’s extensive and outside avoiding the construction. We also had some loud workers close to our room earlier in the morning than we’d like. But again, I recognize that renovations are necessary and are temporary.

Great service, noble ethos yet room quality & current environment not worth the price!
Pros:

A last minute stay due to work bringing me to the area.

I was seeking a refined, peaceful and restful night and having previously had this hotel in my orbit from many previous trips guiding people on personal tours to Kerry, I took a room last minute.

What I loved:

* Service was 100% upon both check in & check out. What you would expect from a 5* at this price point. Personal orientation & projected care.
* Loved the ART focus which added a surprising & soulful element that created another layer for me in visiting a building that already has much spirit encased in it’s walls since the late 1800’s!
* I had dinner in the restaurant - it is elegant & very pricey, but the quality was top notch. Service in the restaurant was excellent and I was not dismissed for turning up in trainers ( I had not planned to be there :) )
* The bathroom products in the room amenities felt more natural than the usual highly scented chemical laden products in most hotels which I really appreciated
* Thoughtful snacks & beverages in the room - LOVED the kettle & the coffee tea choices!
* Bed, pillows & Quilt on point - perfect.

What I was disappointed in for the $$$:

* King room was very small and literally the bed was beside the door exposing you to everyones conversations as they pass through the corridor. The wallpaper showed lots of stains, as well as carpet. The bathroom looked like it was renovated but tiny with nowhere to place your wash items. Practically a little shelf is needed in small bathroom for personal wash items so that wash items are not placed on the floor. Bathroom was not 100% clean unfortunately (hairs from previous people in the shower trap & a dirty small towel on a hook in the shower)
* Even though it was quiet in the hotel, I could hear my neighbours TV & voices plus slamming doors when trying to sleep. This is a consideration for those who are noise sensitive.
* I was explicitly told at check in; and on the in-room literature that though building renovations were happening they do not make noise until 10.30a.m. I saw many trademens outside my window from 8am & drilling/hammering at 8.15am.
* I did not feel that this stay was value for money given the season & renovations. The room was akin to a 4 star honestly (minus the beautiful artwork/feather quilts & pillows) - and then the added stress of not having privacy to open my curtains in the morning as the builders were right there. This pushed me out early to get away from the noise and intrusion honestly at 9am.

I was unaware with regard to the extensive hotel renovations, nor ownership and ethos until I arrived. I was given an orientation and details on the art pieces the owners have placed around the hotel. I loved this, as I am a creative, though you may need to qualify your guests and ask if they are interested in that level of information before giving them the lay of the land with regards to the art pieces in situ. I sense that some guests may feel overwhelmed at having that level of detail when they are weary from travel and just need to rest.

I expressed my concern about morning noise, adding that I really need a peaceful place to rest. The room given looked out at a crane (with a blaring light on all night that beamed into the room) and a building site, but I was told that this was the best place for me - that building work only began at 10.30am. Alas, a restless night - as is to be expected in an old building the walls and doors are not soundproof. Banging doors; neighbours TV and voices and subsequently drilling on the site at 8.15 am in the morning got me out of there early.

I’m unsure if I will return tom stay. Perhaps when the renovations are complete, and in room with a more attractive aspect.

Worth the long drive!
Pros:

Stayed recently with other family members and had a most enjoyable time at the Park Hotel. We enjoyed lovely light lunch on arrival in lounge area and excellent dinner that night in main dining room.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and most helpful. Excellent pool and sauna facility. Look forward to return visit and hopefully with better weather will get in a full round of golf at adjoining golf course.
A big thank you to all the team!

Peaceful .Welcoming .Thoughtful Kenmare Park
Pros:

Thanks to the new owner Bryan who has created an atmosphere that you feel you are visiting the home of a thoughtful host rather than a paying guest.
I know previous review mentions revamp noise and maybe we were lucky it's didn't impact our stay and we were there for one night to celebrate my birthday.
I found it peaceful there and the staff friendly and welcoming.
I did the Art tour of all the artwork in the hotel which was great and purchased the book that details the artwork so I can revisit now I'm home. Complimentary tea and cake at 4pm in the lounge.relaxing piano playing and access to record player to play some tunes. Will return and stay longer. Thanks to Leo Linda and Johnathan for your hospitality.

Not for me
Pros:

If you want to stay in a building site this is your hotel……. Our room looked out unto a building site in which we were informed that the hotel was under some winter upgrade…. We went for an afternoon rest to the sound a jackhammer, wonderful, we were staying for three nights, such a mistake. We filled in the review which was left in our room & I gave to reception before check out. The manager who interacted with the couple who checked out before us quickly disappeared……… would I recommend this hotel - NO

Perfect in Every Aspect
Pros:

I stayed here for five nights over Christmas with friends and family—and it was the perfect holiday setting.

The views were stunning—rolling green hills and water wrapped by incredible trail options. Close (1min walking distance) yet so secluded you wouldn’t even know it was there if you were strolling by.

Our room was warm—spacious—and beautifully designed—elegant but comfortable. The bed was incredibly cozy—and the festive décor throughout the hotel made everything feel magical without being overdone. AMAZING PILLOWS & OUTLET/CHARGING OPTIONS

The food was Michelin star/Tasting Menu worthy, the options are accommodating to all. Breakfast each morning was fresh and generous—and Christmas dinner felt genuinely special. Evenings in the bar by the fire—with great cocktails and occasional live music—were a highlight.

The staff was ridiculously accommodating and enthusiastic. perfectly attentive without hovering. may be the best service i’ve ever had across the board

What really made the stay—though—was the service. The staff were warm—attentive—and thoughtful in a way that felt natural—not forced. By the end of the trip—I didn’t want to leave. I’d absolutely return.

The Negative: Apparently there is a new owner (company) who owns it and has changed (could be in the process of making more changes) from classic decor and art to modern art & decor. This is in stark contrast to the ambience of the entire stay and feel and kind if sticks out like a sore thimb—very distracting and unappealing.

Glamorous atmosphere with excellent waiters and the entire staff was attentive.
Pros:

The breakfast is very good, the hotel is very nice, and it's located in the city center.

Cons:

We had issues with balcony doors in two different rooms before being upgraded to a wonderful master suite. While the final room was perfect, the move process took over two hours of waiting in the second day. We would have appreciated better communication regarding the delay so we didn't waste our time. Overall, the suite made up for the trouble, but the logistics could be smoother
