Very Good Stay
Pros:

This was my second time staying at the Wensleydale hotel and I have enjoyed it both times. It is located in the town center. It has a good breakfast with a restaurant and pubs nearby for dinner. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is so helpful and I just love the look and feel of the hotel.

Cons:

There is nothing I did not like.

We really liked our stay there ... the room was very clean and checked each day for anything that needed doing.
Pros:

The staff were welcoming and very attentive.
The breakfast was really good with a lot of choice and very healthy and also cooked to perfection.

Cons:

The room was quite small but our fault as it was advertised as cosy double!

Comfortable and clean
Pros:

The location is perfect for Middleham Castle and, as I was there for the Richard III Festival, it was ideal. The staff were super polite and helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. I had dinner there the first night and the food was delicious.

Cons:

The stairs are slightly rickety and the room was quite hot - however these were through no fault of the hotel, it was hot weather!
I'd recommend providing salt and pepper on the tables in the restaurant: it seemed strange to have to ask for it.

Disappointing and over-priced.
Pros:

Of course the location was lovely - its Middleham in the Yorkshire Dales.

Cons:

The food was over-priced. My so called caesar salad did not resemble a true caesar salad. There was maybe a caesar salad dressing (not much of it) and lettuce - masses - but then grated carrot and tasteless cherry tomatoes. Extremely bland. My husband had bangers and mash - much too salty and utterly uninspiring. Our room (£252) had a loo that did not flush properly, a shower over the bath with difficult to control water temperature and very scratchy bed linen.

A lovely, relaxing 2 day break.
Pros:

Hotel in a lovely location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food locally sourced, delicious and very generous portions. Room clean, towels soft and toiletries provided.

Cons:

Only one little niggle which I spoke to staff about and that was the height of the mirrors meant I had to do my hair and make up standing up - but this is a personal reference.

A few niggles but overall a good place to stay
Pros:

The breakfast was good with reasonable amount of choice. It was well presented and produced to my request i.e. saususage and bacon well done with very good black pudding. The staff were all excellent assisting with luggage and requests in a friendly and helpful way

Cons:

It is an old hotel and as such had a number of foibles not found in modern ones. The worst aspect was the shower having been squeezed in to satisfy the need for en suite facilities. As such the shower cublcle was minute made worse by the positioning of the shower unit, which itself was very good. A poorly fitted toilet seat was also particularly annoying slipping from side to side when you sat on it. Although excellent and well presented I did feel that the evening meals were overpriced.
