Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast

An absolutely beautiful hotel with the most impeccable service. Incredible attention to detail in getting to know us and finding little ways to delight us each day. They have a head of customer experience and she was wonderful; as was Luigi one of our servers! Very kind and thoughtful all around.

We are a family of hotel lovers that travel quite a lot (see previous reviews) and typically stay at/love Four Seasons… this was our first Belmond and I’ve been totally blown away. We flew here to celebrate my 40th birthday. Ravello is up “on the hill”, away from the hustle and bustle of Amalfi “down on the water”. At first, we were a little nervous to be away from the coast for an Amalfi Coast trip, but turns out Ravello and the Caruso are absolute gems. Truly it’s not a far distance, but the twists and turns of the road will make it a 20-25 drive.

This hotel is perfect. The grounds are immaculate with flowers and fruit trees everywhere you look. The staff is excellent. I called in-room dining one night, ordered quickly for my husband and my daughter and couldn’t decide on what to order for myself and Luigi immediately said “you should try pasta tonight since you had pizza the other night”. I was actually laughing so hard because I couldn’t get over the fact that this (I’m certain) very busy staff member remembered my order from two or three nights ago?! When I said that to him on the phone, he laughed and replied “I just love my job”. That’s just one example of the level of service they provide. There are no slip-up’s here. Everything was flawless from start to finish. The food at the poolside restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was great, such a view. Everything is perfect from the plates to the quality of the food. Our room and housekeeping were excellent as well. We’d leave for an hour to grab food and our room would be made up in that short time! The doormen were literally kissing our daughter goodbye. We never return places and we’re dreaming of returning here already. Just go ahead and visit!

Caruso hat mich Luxus auf eine völlig neue Art erleben lassen. Nicht als Inszenierung von Geld, sondern als Ausdruck von Stil, Zeit, Ruhe und Kultur. Es ist einer dieser seltenen Orte, an denen ich das Gefühl habe, dass Menschen nicht hierherkommen, um gesehen zu werden, sondern um für eine Weile nicht gesehen werden zu müssen.

Gerade im Vergleich zu anderen sehr bekannten Luxushotels der Amalfiküste ist die Atmosphäre außergewöhnlich. Hier können sich Unternehmer, Familien, Menschen aus Family Offices und Persönlichkeiten, deren Alltag von Geschwindigkeit und Verantwortung geprägt ist, wirklich zurückziehen. Familien genießen ihre gemeinsame Zeit. Was mir besonders aufgefallen ist: Kaum jemand ist permanent am Handy. Menschen sprechen miteinander, lesen, schwimmen, genießen ein Glas Wein oder einfach die Aussicht. Man nimmt sich Zeit – füreinander und für sich selbst.

Dazu kommt diese dramatisch schöne Kulisse: ein beinahe 1.000 Jahre altes Gebäude, eingebettet in eine außergewöhnliche Anlage mit Gärten, Terrassen und einem Blick über die Amalfiküste, der beinahe surreal wirkt. Vieles hier könnte eine Filmkulisse sein.

Auch die Liebe zum Detail hat mich beeindruckt. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Acqua di Parma, das wunderschöne Porzellan und die Einbindung traditionsreicher Hersteller aus der Region zeigen mir, dass hier Luxus nicht einfach durch bekannte Marken dargestellt wird. Es entsteht eine eigene, sehr stimmige Welt.

Das Wichtigste lässt sich allerdings kaum auf einem Foto festhalten: das Gefühl, hier zu sein. Genau dieses Gefühl macht Caruso für mich außergewöhnlich. Ich habe viele besondere Hotels erlebt – aber hier habe ich Luxus tatsächlich noch einmal neu kennengelernt.

Gratulation an das gesamte Team. Nahezu alles fühlt sich durchdacht, stilvoll und gleichzeitig erstaunlich selbstverständlich an.

Belmond Hotel Caruso gave us the best hotel experience we have ever had.

From our very first interaction with the hotel’s car service through check-in and every moment of our stay, each staff member we encountered was exceptionally warm, helpful, and welcoming. After traveling throughout Italy, we chose to end our trip with a few days in Ravello while celebrating my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary, and the entire experience exceeded anything we could have imagined.

The thoughtful touches were truly unparalleled. We arrived to handwritten notes and beautiful gifts in our room, including wine, limoncello, and strawberries. The nightly turndown service and so many unexpected, delightful details made every day feel incredibly special.

We were also generously upgraded to a junior suite with a private terrace. We were so touched that we nearly cried. It was one of those rare moments that we will remember forever.

Hotel Caruso is a truly extraordinary place, not only because of its beauty, but because of the genuine care shown by its staff. We left feeling incredibly grateful and already hoping to return someday. With gratitude, The Salazars

We were part of a family group staying at the hotel celebrating our parents Wedding Anniversary. It's a special hotel. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds. Lovely location, swimming in the pool overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Easy walking distance to Ravello. Delicious food in the grill and restaurants. Kind staff. Relaxing hotel, so not to noisy. Pleasant atmosphere. Very clean and well looked after in general. And a fair value for money. We will definitely be back. We loved it.

We have been here many times over the years. Never disappoints. Even better since the upgrade. Exceptional location, service, dining and pool area. Highly recommended.

The Caruso lives up to the Belmond standards and the town is just perfect to enjoy the coast without the crowds!

I have been to many beautiful hotels but this is by far the best I have experienced. If you can go, do not hesitate.

I had the pleasure of staying at Caruso in 2007. It was after that trip that I told myself I would make it back here one day because of how special this place is. I was lucky to make that dream come true and it was all that I remembered and more.

First, I must acknowledge the incredible staff. To me, beautiful hotels can certainly impress, but it's the people who create the experience and make you want to return! In particular, Iolanda, the General Manager, was spectacular, charming, personable, accommodating, and genuinely approachable. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and is a true asset to the property. I wish her nothing but continued success and all the very best.
Antonietta, Alessandra & Gabriella at the front desk, were wonderful. Not only were they able to upgrade us to a jaw-dropping suite, but every interaction we had with them was professional, friendly, and exemplified the highest level of customer service.
At the restaurants, Chef Christian, Carmine, Giovanni, Marco & Nicola welcomed us with smiles and wowed us with memorable meals and wonderful conversation.

Marilena, the guest experience manager was a delight. It's very apparent that she is passionate about her position and providing above and beyond experiences for her guests.

The service here is truly five-star. As is the stunning infinity pool that is constantly listed as one of the world's best. The commitment to customer service and refined hospitality really impressed me. Staff constantly greeted me by my last name, they would check in to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as it could be and were happy to acknowledge and follow through on my requests.

We spent most of our time by the pool, swimming to the infinity edge, soaking in the breathtaking views of the winding coastline and the mountains in the distance. It was the perfect place to unwind, indulge, lose track of time and never want to leave. The poolside restaurant was my happy place. One of my favorite memories is seeing the plumes from pizza oven smokestack, which brought a smile to my face as I knew what delicious pizzas were coming our way. God they were good!

Lets not forget to mention the impressive breakfast service. The beautiful fresh made pastries, the enticing meat and cheese station looked over by a delightful attendant, all the traditional breakfast items and a full menu if you would like something more substantial. All with a gorgeous view overlooking the coast.

We dined at Caruso Grill our last night for dinner where Carmine and Giovanni wowed us with a fantastic table in an intimate and beautiful setting. I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Christian hard at work with his team and as expected, every dish was incredible.

Our junior suite 205, (which seems like an understatement) was an absolute dream. A bathroom with windows offering mountain views, a terrace to enjoy meals on and chaises for private lounging with views of the coast, a spacious living and dining area and a bed that i could stay in forever. The turndown service was quite memorable, as I had never been offered a memory foam foot pillow placed at the side of my bed to relax my feet prior to laying down.

If we are fortunate to make it back to Ravello one day, we look forward to seeing all the staff and experiencing all that the Belmond Caruso has to offer. They made memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives and we are truly grateful.

Side note...If any of you are cat lovers, Ravello, aside from its endless beauty, history and architecture is known as "cat village" as the cats that wander the streets are protected by Italian law and most of them would love your attention!

We enjoyed both an aperitivo at the Caruso Bar and dinner at the Caruso Grill, and everything was simply outstanding. The breathtaking setting, exceptional food and drinks, and impeccable service made for a truly memorable evening.

A special thank you to Carmine and the entire Caruso Bar team for their warm hospitality and attention to detail during aperitivo. Equally, our sincere thanks to Giovanni and the Caruso Grill team for delivering a fantastic dining experience with professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care.

I was not staying at the property, but just having lunch and was able to see a room. It is the most beautiful hotel! The rooms were stunning with views to match. Lunch by the pool was quiet and delicious with the best service by Giovanni and his staff. They made my friend and I feel as we were special guests. Hotel Caruso is a must see. I will be returning to stay!
