A perfect location, and a comfortable and quiet room!
Pros:

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Considering how busy The Wharf area is, the room was pretty quiet. Great view from the rooftop pool. I also loved they had a hoist at the pool which would allow wheelchair users to still access it.

Cons:

Nothing, aside from the price. Very expensive.

Above and beyond!
Pros:

My wife and I were in DC for a wedding. The hotel hosted the wedding party and many guests. The entire experience was first class. The facility is amazing and the staff are truly one of a kind. If you want to be welcomed to DC with open arms, close to all of the attractions the city has to offer, stay at the Intercontinental at the Warf.

Very nice stay
Pros:

I really enjoyed my stay. The property is very well-maintained and my room was clean, spacious and well stocked. I truly appreciated that there was an electric water kettle in addition to coffee supplies so that I could make a proper cup of tea. The staff was all very friendly. The front desk and bellmen were all so friendly and gracious. Two people who stood out Baraki and Trey. I wish that I knew/remembered the name of the bellman who helped me upon arrival on Wednesday 5/27 at approximately 4:30 (he was young, about 5'8" and had dark hair).
The meeting facilities were good, although one west facing window had a broken shade that made it uncomfortable as the sun was setting- sunglasses were necessary during the event.
Next time I have to travel to that part of DC, I will happily stay again at the intercontinental

Best Staff!
Pros:

Spent 8 days and 7 nights at the InterCon Wharf for work. From the sales team to the event team to the bellmen - everyone was stellar! I want to give special shout out to Aidan and Remela for their outstanding support. Also Baraki and his team including Aziz were always there to help in any way as we supported over 40 events at the hotel and shuttling hundreds of people in and out of the hotel. What a crew!

So good
Pros:

This is a beautiful property in a perfect location. Right on the Wharf, but within walking distance of the National Mall, the monuments, and all the museums. And trust me, we don't usually splurge for luxury hotels, but this one is totally worth it. And gotta give a huge shout-out to Maria at the front desk. She is super professional, but also super sweet and kind and patient... especially with a big dummy such as myself. Anytime we're back in DC, we'll be staying here.

A STAYCATION TO REMEMBER
Pros:

A staycation is always welcome and last weekend my husband and I checked into the beautiful Intercontinental Washington DC at The Wharf. The experience was superior!

The professionalism of the front desk team and the welcome of Chef Concierge Shujatt Kahn offering a room with a view and a few extra treats that helped create a stay that was warm and memorable in spite of a cold and rainy Memorial Day weekend outside. Chef Jeff William's WIllowsong lounge was also so comfortable and offered both excellent cocktails and bites before wondering out to see explore all that the DC Wharf offer.

Our sincere thanks for a wonderful experience of hospitality. This is a Hotel that really cares and we look forward to returning, as well as highly recommending to all!

Waterfront Comfort and Modern Style at InterContinental The Wharf
Pros:

The InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf delivers a refined, waterfront stay in one of the city’s most vibrant and walkable neighborhoods. Its positioning along the marina makes it ideal for travelers who want modern comfort paired with scenic views and immediate access to The Wharf’s restaurants, promenades, and cultural venues.

Rooms are bright, contemporary, and thoughtfully arranged, with large windows and balconies overlooking the river, marina, and surrounding green spaces. The design blends soft neutral tones with metallic accents, creating a calm, upscale atmosphere. Comfortable seating areas, well‑placed lighting, and functional workspaces make the rooms suitable for both relaxation and productivity.

Bathrooms follow a clean, modern aesthetic, featuring illuminated mirrors, sleek vanities, and glass‑enclosed showers with high‑quality fixtures. The layout emphasizes simplicity and ease of use, with a cohesive palette of beige and gray tones.

Common areas and in‑room furnishings maintain a polished, understated luxury. Patterned carpets, marble‑topped surfaces, and warm lighting contribute to a cohesive, elegant feel throughout the property. Many rooms offer direct views of the marina, adding a strong sense of place and enhancing the overall experience.

The surrounding Wharf district is a major highlight, offering waterfront paths, dining, and entertainment just steps from the hotel. The combination of modern design, comfortable rooms, and a prime location makes the InterContinental a strong choice for travelers seeking a stylish, view‑driven stay in Washington D.C.

was targeted and harrassed for the manager in charge
Pros:

My experience at the InterContinental Washington, D.C. was profoundly disappointing. Despite having an ambassador membership with access to early check-in and late check-out benefits, on the night of May 13th to 14th, the supervisor on duty refused to provide me with a room, even though suites were available. After a long night at work, I returned exhausted, and I had to sit in the lobby in the early morning hours. To make matters worse, a hour after Denied me the early check in as I was having breakfast, I witnessed the manager inform another guest at a nearby table that their room was ready. This inequitable treatment is unacceptable, especially since my membership entitles me to these benefits. I expect better from a hotel of this caliber.”
To make matters worse, upon check-in when I requested a late check-out in advance they denied me, using the excuse that the hotel was oversold; yet, my coworker, who checked in on the very same day as I did, was granted one. For the second time during this same stay, they once again denied me a benefit to which I am entitled by virtue of my Ambassador membership lying to me on both occasions with the excuse that there was no availability, when in reality, there was

A helping hand
Pros:

Hotel was great and so was the service. I was there for work meetings and ran into an issue with printing materials that were supposed to be shipped to hotel. We were short 50 copies of 4 different materials, the printers had closed and the meeting started the next morning. LaVonne from the front desk sprung into action and said they could help. She took the materials and about 20 minutes later had all the material printed and ready to use. She saved the day and allowed the meetings to go off without a hitch. I truly appreciate the service we received while staying here.

Excellent Stay at InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental The Wharf. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located right on the waterfront.
The service at The Dock was outstanding. Our bartender, AJ, was fantastic — super friendly, attentive, and made excellent drinks. He really made our evenings enjoyable. Highly recommend stopping by The Dock for drinks!
Thank you to the entire team for a great experience. We’ll definitely be back!
