Quality - lacked duvet lumpy and well worn sofas . Gym equipment was hard to use . It was just fitted cheaply
The hotel staff were excellent—friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Their customer service was one of the highlights of my stay.
However, I experienced a couple of frustrating issues. The air conditioning in my first room was not working, so I was moved to another room. Unfortunately, when I opened the door to the second room, I found that there was already someone sleeping inside. This was a very uncomfortable and surprising situation for both me and the other guest.
While the staff handled the situation politely and tried to resolve it, these incidents had a negative impact on my overall experience. I hope the hotel improves its room management procedures to prevent similar issues in the future.
I travel to Manchester a few times a year and usually stay at City Suites 2. Back in March, I decided to try City Suites 1 instead because the TVs also had Netflix and that stay was genuinely great. The room had amazing city views and overall I really enjoyed the experience.
Unfortunately, this time round I did not have a great experience due to one incident. (This is not a reflection of all staff as I also had good service from rest of the staff)
To begin with, we arrived at reception to check in and the lady there was quite rude. She didn’t acknowledge us at all initially. At some point she said she would be with us shortly. Eventually, she asked for my card and ID but gave no explanation about what she was doing throughout the process. She continued typing away on the keyboard and then ended up saying, “I need another card.” I asked what the issue was, but again received a cold response of, “It won’t accept.” I understand that some systems can have issues with certain cards like Mastercard, so if she just said the system wouldn’t accept the card, I would have been okay with that. It was the lack of communication and unprofessional attitude that was the issue. Later, we came back down because the AC in the room was not working. Thankfully, another member of staff helped us this time. He was professional, polite, and provided genuinely good service which was a relief as the initial encounter with the lady at reception was upsetting.
I currently have no intention of returning because I couldn’t imagine dealing with the same cold service again. One staff member can completely ruin the experience. I think for now I will rather stay at City Suites 2, where I’ve stayed more than five times without any issues, unless the staff rotate.
It’s a shame because the views at City Suites One are amazing, especially for sunrise and sunset, and having Netflix available is a nice touch. However, I would choose good customer service over all of that as service is important.

Great location for going to the Arena for a gig.
Everything was great.
I only stayed for one night, but this was a very well appointed large room in an excellent location yet quiet overnight. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast options were a little limited but very high quality, so check menu before staying if you want breakfast in the restaurant. Rooms have very good self-catering facilities.

Disappointing the hot tub was out of action (but that happens), however, both breakfasts it took over an hour for drinks let alone food.
