A very pleasant surprise - effectively a country house hotel in the middle of a town.
Pros:

It is a charming old building with many comfortable sitting areas, including outside on a spacious terrace. Our 'twin' room had two double beds and the shower room was modern and well equipped. The staff were very friendly.

Cons:

My spring mattress was rather lumpy.

The main hotel is lovely, the annexe is not.
Pros:

The main hotel and grounds are delightful. Lovely old building.

Cons:

We stayed in an annexe down the road. Our ground floor room was next to the entrance and very noisy. We discovered in the morning that the window was ajar and anyone could have entered our room. Loud people above us too. There was a lot of damage from damp and water intrusion. The room resembled a cheap motel room.

Pros:

Our room was in the White Swan Rooms just down the road from the main hotel and was very large ....could have slept a family of four. It had everything you need for a brief stay.

Better clarification on the Booking.com website to clarify the location of the annex when making reservation on line
Pros:

Beautiful historic building and grounds with ancient trees.

Cons:

Currently major restoration work being done to front entrance wall to the grounds. On arrival we were told that our room was in a completely separate building about 150 metres away down a hill into the town. We could theoretically unload our cases down there from our car and then drive back up the hill to the main car park at the hotel and then walk back down the hill to our room and when required walk back up the hill for meals/refreshments. My husband has difficulty having to walk and needs a stick. This wasn’t ideal!! We were offered a more expensive room which I believe was the only spare room available for our three night stay so had to pay an additional £145.00 . This made for an unfortunate start to our stay!

All we expected and needed, thankyou.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Rather basic decor and off-site rooms, but otherwise satisfactory, taking in to account the good location and reasonable pricing.

Very large rooms in a beautiful building.

Cons:

Unfortunately it was under reconstruction during our stay. The bathroom was very institution like and one of the windows were broken.

Enjoyable stay
Pros:

Great location comfortable room friendly staff nice bar and lots of rabbits in the grounds

Cons:

The first room we we were given was accessed from outside and noisy so had to change rooms. The restaurant menu didnt impress and dining room separate from breakfast room was a bit soulless
