Location, staff, food
Nothing
The location was nice. Convenient to the wedding we were attending. The ladies who worked on breakfast duty were lovely, friendly and very helpful.
It was TOO HOT! Yes, I realise it's a heatwave and this is an old property. BUT, not only was there no air-con in the rooms, just a small, noisy, portable fan, which did nothing, but move the hot air around. There were no bed sheet options, just a thick, heavy quilt. The windows barely opened, AND the radiator was on in the bathroom. I didn't sleep for the 2 nights there, and the simple act of trying to get dressed for the wedding was a nightmare, due to being so hot and sticky. It was exceptionally uncomfortable.
Staff very accommadating, ate in the restautant great food.
Rooms very dated aware it was oldie worldie.
Bed felt small uncomfortable as were the pillows.
Got no sleep due to generators (I think) humming all night.
Old fashioned pub, really nice staff and people
Rooms are a bit dated and old, but they are ok.
Excellent breakfast. Excellent evening meal where we were joined by family.
Everything cooked to perfection.
Pleasant ambiance throughout.
Suggest bath mat in bathroom.
Suggest coasters for drinks in room.
Suggest beer mats downstairs.
Nice countryside
Tiny double bed, dusty old nets with holes on the windows. The smell from the Sunday lunch permeated everything. The staff were reluctant to let us sit by the widow at breakfast to look out at the lovely garden? It was more about them limiting guests to a few tables to make their shift easier. There were not many for breakfast so I couldn’t understand why they would not seat everyone by the windows to showcase the lovely garden ? We did move but they were not happy !
The parking was great. It was easy to arrive, and easy to get to the Manchester airport. It is a great end or start to a trip. The food and pub were outstanding. That made our last night really proper.
Very friendly staff who managed to get me a salad when the kitchen had been “closed” for 30mins.
The kitchen closed at 8:15pm. Rather early.
Breakfast good, staff friendly.
No hand holds in shower. My husband aged 83 fell and became stuck in bath but wonderful Imogen rescued him. A big thank you to her calmness and help.
Didn't stay for breakfast. Depleted amount of coffee and tea etc in bedroom but sufficient and welcome.
The residential part of the pub has deteriorated since the last time we stayed. Ripped curtains and poorly made drapes combined with scratched furniture and paintwork spoiled the ambience of what was once a very pleasant venue.
The bed was uncomfortable as it was so hard!
Needs some updating in residential areas.
Great outdoor spaces,lovely setting.
Staff very pleasant and attentive.
Some minor maintenance issues in room, like wonky toilet seat in ensuit but very minor.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the manager was extremely obliging - nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautiful and their special two/three course summer special menu was extremely good value. Would highly recommend.
Very convenient location. Food served throughout the day. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean.
We struggled to sleep. It was hot in the room, even with windows open. If there was a sheet and/or thinner duvet in summer months it might make a difference.
Accommodated an early check in so we could get to a wedding. Room lovely.
Ordered Gluten free breakfast that was whisked away when asked if the black pudding was ok. It returned without the black pudding and sausage leaving one rasher of bacon with the mushrooms tomato and beans. Disappointing I am afraid.
Breakfast was good
Couldn't connect to the free WiFi but not a big deal
Very cute pub with comfortable, large rooms, nice countryside views and comfy beds.
A mini fridge in the room would have been incredibly helpful.
Door to the bathroom didn't latch closed properly.
