Excellent stay!
Pros:

Hotel is located in excellent place, close to the sea, shops, restaurants and attractions. Excellent staff, the young chap who’s the hotel manager is just a delight to deal with, nothing was a problem. It was a pleasure to talk to him when he had spare few minutes. Above and beyond!do not let him go! Very friendly atmosphere and amazing decor throughout the hotel! Loved it!

Cons:

The room could be a bit bigger and the hotel would hugely benefit if there was hot snacks/ dinners available. But we liked everything about the hotel.

Average.
Pros:

Quirky decor

Cons:

Very old fashioned furniture in bedrooms. Doesn’t deliver on the reception area decor breakfast not served until 0830. Shower just a dribble. Genuinely hard to rinse myself it was that bad. A bit tired. Young lad on reception although very helpful and courteous appeared to be alone. However… this is the isle of white and so in the grand scheme of things it’s typical iow hotel. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good. Just average.

Shocking manager attitude and understaffed hotel
Pros:

The staff did their best of a clearly bad situation. They worked within their roles and beyond. The hotel clearly has been recently renovated in some parts, but not all.

Cons:

The room: old TV that doesn't work, no ventilation other than a single window, the bathroom door doesn't shut, the flushing doesn't work, the shower is cheap and dingy (we overheard other guests complaining about this over breakfast). And we were promised a gluten free breakfast - their version of gluten free is taking the hash brown away. But all of that did not bother us. Here is what did.

Shocking managerial attitude. The room has no Do Not Disturb sign to help direct the cleaning staff, who also are apparently very rigid in their timings according to the manager. On the second day, our baby was having a nap in the afternoon after we spent the entire morning away, and we had to tell the cleaners directly abut this as they had not yet cleaned our room. The room was never cleaned, and as it turns out, the receptionist had to make our bed for us later on in the day. When we brought this to her attention, the lady manager was far more concerned on pinning the blame on the male receptionist than to make up for the issue. The real problem is that the hotel is clearly short staffed, the male receptionist was there from 7am until at least pm that day, covering reception, bartending, portering, cleaning and any odd job around the hotel. All other staff was in a similar situation, management seems to have an attitude of "if 1 person can cover 5 people's jobs, then why should I even employ a 2nd?". In a despicable turn of events, the manager went on to blame the cleaning staff for being rigid, blamed the receptionist for taking initiative and trying to clean our room when he has not been trained to do so, blamed us and even our baby for having been in the room for a nap, and when asked about compensation, she flat out refused, she went as far as refusing to give us the name of a higher up manager or how best to make a complaint.

The Q Hotel - Shanklin
Pros:

The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were lovely. The hotel has been refurbished to a good quality. Good parking. The cooked breakfast was a good standard.

Cons:

We arrived on a bank holiday Monday and although the staff member who greeted us was lovely, there was only one staff member on the premises. I appreciate this was due to the bank holiday. For large parts of the day, we had to go looking around the hotel to be served a drink or ask general enquiries. There should be at least two staff on site.

The information from Booking.Com was a travesty" Premier Shanklin Escape for relaxation and luxury."
Pros:

The breakfast was OK. The bed was large and comfortable

Cons:

We booked a Superior Double Room on the ground floor. !!!. The view into the back yard was my car and a boat on a trailer.
There was no bathroom, just a wash basin in the corner of the bedroom. The toilet in an alcove allowed me to put my feet in the shower tray in front of the loo. The shower was just 32 inches square. The wardrobe in the bedroom was an open chipboard cupboard.
The hotel was in the middle of a house estate. We didn't get a 25% discount on the ferry
