Crown Hotel - Stone, Near Stoke-On-Trent by OYO

The reception is unmanned from 11pm to 9am, we was locked out of our rooms as our key card was no working so we had to wait an hour for someone to be on reception which caused a huge delay for us as I was getting married that day!!

The staff were kind and friendly, but unfortunately the room and overall stay were disappointing, especially considering the £180 price.
We had a room with two beds and a sofa bed, but there were no sheets or quilt for the sofa bed. It took three trips to reception before we finally got everything we needed.
The toilet seat was also cracked. We were told it would be replaced the following morning, but when we returned from Alton Towers, it still hadn’t been done.
The room also wasn’t as clean as we expected. There were empty shower bottles left behind that had clearly run out, we ran out of toilet paper during our stay, and the bathroom window was stuck open. This meant we could hear a lot of the noise from the nightlife outside during the night.
The staff were pleasant and did try to help, but there were just too many basic issues with the room. Overall, the stay was okay, but for £180 I expected a much better standard.

I couldn't wash my hair in the shower because the shower didn't provide enough water or power. It was also cold. The room didn't seem like it had been checked before we entered. There wasn't enough toilet paper, and empty bottles of shampoo were left in the shower. I understand it is an old building, but the linoleum was peeling off the bathroom floor. The TV remote wasn't the one for the room, and we had to exchange it. The lad at reception had to be asked several times to change it (which he was happy to do), but the poor boy seemed to be left on his own and overrun with other tasks.

They promised free parking, but I received three parking tickets during my stay and were fined by the car rental service... The hotel does not want to take any responsibility! Outrageous! Worst stay ever!

Staff Couldn’t find our booking,

Gave us a room that someone else was already staying in

The new room was FILTHY, only reason we stayed was there was no availability anywhere else, and couldn’t sleep in our car although a cardboard box on the street may have been similarly cleanly.

There was a sock over the smoke detector

The room smelled of stale cigarettes

The bath wasn’t cleaned

Bedding had dirty marks on it

The sofa was crusty

Then the evening after I got a phone call from the hotel asking what time I was checking in (we stayed the night before)

Being woke up at 3 am ish . Noisy people drunk lady abusive . Police called eventually. .knocking on. both our room doors trying to get in.t.v falling off wall. Bugs in room .radiator leaking shower dirty. Panel in bath room missing, dirty grout . Light socket in both rooms falling off.police again Saturday daytime .partner being picked in the back by drunk lady at reception . Later told she was drunk and abusive h.i staff and wrecked the desk.broken chair in room that was sorted by lady with tattoos white lady.very helpful.

Be careful when you book here!
Although the room was dirty and mouldy I wasn’t too perturbed because it was reasonably priced and a good location.
However….
I booked it through booking.com and it was pay at the property.
Unfortunately for me the hotel failed to inform booking.com of my arrival so I was charged twice.
I informed the hotel and they admitted their mistake and stated that they will reimburse me. I’ve had to chase them up several times and they promised the repayment will go into my bank. Several phone calls and emails later still no money back. It’s been going on now for around 7-8 weeks.

The room was not good. Jobs needed finishing. The towels weren’t very clean. The extractor fan was so loud we couldn’t put the light on in the shower room. The shower didn’t work properly and the sink was blocked

None manned staff through the night, no hot water and none working fridge

The cleanliness of the place. Couldn't sleep all night. The beds were infested with bed bugs. I had to relocate myself and the kids in the middle of the night.

The bed was awful like sleeping on a wooden block, so we didnt sleep well

Only 1 bath towel in room. had to ask for more, even then, we didnt get a hand towel

Room too hot.
Shower - hard to regulate heat - was cold for my wife, but scalding hot for me. Hard to turn on and off. Oh, and teh bifold shower door kept on opening into the shower during use, flooding the floor
