Everything
Nothing
We booked a room for 3 adults and a child. As per screenshot, a child is classed up to 17years. Mine is 16yrs and 6foot4. The room was very cramped with a double bed and a sofa bed and that was it. Not enough space at all for a teenager and quite frankly they should not expect a 16 never mind a 17year old to share a tiny sofa bed with an adult. I spoke to reception and got a 'I know'.
Glad it's only one night as my 16 year old slept on the floor. Absolutely raging
If you need a room for three adults and a child I strongly suggest a Premier Inn. Their rooms can actually accommodate properly
Staff very good
Loads of ants in the bathroom Carpets dirty
Mould in the shower
All carpets dirty and stained
Bar area needs decorating
Definitely not worth the money charged

Great value, great staff.
I would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional experience I had during my stay at your hotel from m 17th June till 20 th of June.
From the moment I arrived, I received the warmest and most welcoming greeting. Everything was explained to me clearly and professionally, and I immediately felt valued as a guest. The level of hospitality I experienced throughout my stay was truly outstanding.
The entire team was incredibly friendly, approachable, and professional. There was always a genuine smile, kindness, laughter, and a willingness to help. I received wonderful recommendations about sightseeing, places to visit, and the quickest ways to get around. It honestly felt like I had a combination of a reception team and a concierge service — the team went far beyond what I would normally expect from a hotel.
The hotel was spotless, comfortable, and maintained to a very high standard. Breakfast was excellent, and every detail showed care and attention. The service quality made me feel as though I was staying in a much more premium property — the atmosphere and hospitality felt closer to what I would expect from a luxury hotel such as Crowne Plaza rather than a standard Holiday Inn Express.
I would especially like to recognise one member of your reception team — your wonderful French gentleman, Mail. He was absolutely exceptional and deserves special recognition. Throughout my stay, he was incredibly helpful, kind, professional, and always ready to assist with a smile.
One particular moment really showed his outstanding character. One day, I accidentally locked myself out of my room while still wearing my pyjamas. Instead of making me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable, Mail immediately came to help. He arrived with such positivity, kindness, and humour. We laughed together about the situation, and he reassured me straight away. His warm personality, professionalism, and genuine care turned what could have been an embarrassing moment into a lovely memory.
Mail truly made me feel looked after, and his attitude represents exactly what exceptional hospitality should be. He was not only a receptionist — he was someone who made me feel safe, welcomed, and cared for.
The whole team created an atmosphere where I felt like I was returning home rather than simply returning to a hotel. This level of personal attention and genuine kindness is something very special and should be recognised.
I can honestly say this was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had with IHG. The team at Holiday Inn Express Wigan exceeded my expectations in every possible way.
I will definitely return in the future and will warmly recommend your hotel to others. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so memorable, comfortable, and enjoyable.
A very special thank you again to Mail and the whole reception team for providing truly exceptional service.
