A comfortable hotel, with atmosphere well located for local eateries and activities.
Pros:

Very comfortable, well located hotel with local charm.

Cons:

Steps were a challenge, but the staff were very helpful in helping us with our luggage

Pros:

The location is just perfect. You are close to the historical old town, the Sarawak river front, major museums a landmarks.
The property is a heritage property which adds to the overall experience of the stay. The staff are helpful. The property has a pool which is also an added bonus.
The highlight is the cat who is one of the sweetest cat I have ever met. She came all the way down to bid good bye.

Cons:

The hotel should provide a fan in the rooms as air conditioning is not required all the time. But since there are no fans available, we are forced to use the air conditioning all the time which is both very sustainable and in some cases not ideal healthwise as well.

Great stay but poor sleep
Pros:

Great location next to the river and famous food within walking distance.near busstop to malls and easy to get grab from entrance. Beautiful property with history

Cons:

No soundproofing from
(Closed windows and blinds down did not help despite being on top floor)
-lion dance rehearsal at temple opposite at night(3/4 nights up to 9+PM!)
-motorcycles and engines along the road throughout the night and morning
-snoring from next door neighbour can be your morning alarm clock
U may have better experience if the room does not face the front of the property although I asked to change room, was simply told no rooms available

Brilliant location.

Cons:

No wifi access (or extremely low connectivity) to the “Berry Johnson” rooms. All windows are louvred, and therefore not sound proof (particularly important when next to a busy road!). “Ground Floor” is accessed by a 45-stepped pathway leading up hill from reception, so not that practical for elderly or impaired.

Heritage stay in the centre of things
Pros:

Heritage building above bustling Chinatown and the riverside. Wonderful sitting area on first floor.

Cons:

Noisy (but to be expected in the location). Sorry not to be staying in the older building - my room was in an adjacent wing

Sehr schöne Unterkunft in historischem Gebäude mit allem was notwendig ist. Schöner Garten mit Pool.
Pros:

Das Zimmer im Nebengebäude war großzügig und schön. Angenehm die kleine Terrasse und der Pool im gepflegter Garten. Das Haupthaus ist ein sehr schönes historisches Gebäude und im Vergleich zu den Hotelkästen in Kuching eine Oase.

Cons:

Das Frühstück könnte etwas reicher sein. Es fehlen Obst und Youghurt. Geputzt wurde das Zimmer mit Bad nicht wirklich. Da das Haus in einer belebten Gegend steht, ist es auch in der Nacht nicht wirklich ruhig.

Pros:

Great traditional heritage building , location , amazing coffee shop on site & friendly female receptionist , therefore multiple stays

Cons:

Stairs , could do with a ramp to reach building next to steps due to heavy luggage

Excellent central Kuching small hotel in a historic house
Pros:

I've stayed at the Marian many times over the years and still think it one of Kuching's best options. Rooms can be noisy, but they're comfortable, with good bathrooms and decent beds, and the historic house is great. The swimming pool is an excellent extra reason to stay here, as is proximity to the restaurants, bars and shops on Carpenter St.

Die Lage war sehr gut.

Cons:

Der Straßenlärm war enorm, sicherlich vlt auch von der Lage des Zimmers abhängig.
Da wir einen Dschungelaufenthalt gebucht haben und 4 Tage später wieder im Marian eingecheckt haben, haben wir uns mehr Individualität erhofft. Es wurde aber nicht realisiert, dass wir vor wenigen Tagen schonmal dort waren.

Prachtige verblijf met zwembad op wandelafstand van Kuching.
Pros:

Heel mooi huis, ademt geschiedenis. Veel leuke gezellige hoekjes. Mooi zwembad. Vriendelijke staf. Aan de rand van het oude centrum van Kuching.

Cons:

Eigenlijk geen echte minpunten. Enkel 2 verbeterpuntjes: wat fruit bij het ontbijt, mogelijkheid om ramen te verduisteren.

Pros:

Muy céntrico. El personal muy amable. La facilidad de poder usar la piscina aún después del checkout. No entiendo por qué no tiene mejores puntuaciones, mi habitación estaba muy bien y mi experiencia fue buena.

Cons:

Puede molestar el ruido o la música de los alrededores en la noche al estar tan céntrico pero no tuve problemas especialmente.
