I really liked my stay at the Viceroy. The rooms were a classic art deco style with furnishings that were well maintained. The bed was particularly comfy. The front desk staff, housekeepers, and valets were all excellent. The restaurant had good food and aloof service. I'm not sure if the staff were new or the menu changed but they all seemed lost. I suspect this will.prove over time.
Note: this Viceroy property is 4-star plus, but not quite 5-star like the Waldorf, Ritz, Langham, etc.
Love the atmosphere and location
It was all so great! Location, the room and hotel design, the staff. Loved it all! Thank you all so much for making it such a wonderful stay for my son and I.
My family of four reserved a suite with the expectation of receiving the elevated experience associated with the Fine Hotels + Resorts program. Unfortunately, our stay fell well below those expectations.
The issues we experienced included:
1. Non-functioning television in the suite’s living area.
The television in the seating area did not work throughout our stay. As a result, our entire family was forced to spend our downtime in the bedroom instead of enjoying the separate living space that was one of the primary reasons we booked a suite.
2. No blankets available for the pull-out sofa.
Our children slept on the pull-out sofa, yet the hotel was unable to provide blankets for them. This was extremely disappointing and unacceptable for a luxury hotel, particularly at a rate of approximately $1,000 per night.
3. Poor communication regarding late checkout.
While I understand that late checkout is never guaranteed, we were never informed that our request had not been approved until I personally inquired after noon. At that point, the manager, Caesar, informed me that we could remain until 3:00 p.m. Unfortunately, this information was never properly communicated to the hotel staff. Housekeeping and other staff repeatedly knocked on our door and interrupted us, making us feel as though we were being rushed out or evicted. I even had to return to the lobby and ask Caesar a second time to notify the staff that we had been authorized to stay until 3:00 p.m. Despite this, the interruptions continued and unnecessarily detracted from the final hours of our stay.
Unfortunately, this was my first and last time staying at the Viceroy Chicago. Yes, I’m use to a certain class of hotel experience and willing to pay for it; therefore, my expectations of room rates of approx. $1,000 per night will have standards.
Do not waste your money, especially on their suites! There are better hotels in the area such as Park Hyatt, Four Seasons etc, where I usually stay, but unfortunately they were booked!!
The best experience I had Kendall and Michelle are the the best they made us have the best experience aver
I recently hosted a corporate team meeting at Viceroy Chicago and had an outstanding experience. The hotel is beautiful, but the hospitality truly sets it apart.
A special thank you to Randy and the banquet team—Mario, Monica, Kendall, Evie, Jacob, and Isaac. They anticipated our needs, handled every detail seamlessly, and made our entire team feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
Having hosted meetings at hotels across the country, I can confidently say this team stands out. Exceptional service, beautiful property, and a true 5-star experience. I would absolutely return and recommend Viceroy Chicago for both business and leisure.
Listen, if there's any doubt about booking the Viceroy when looking for a 5 star option, do not hesitate! We've stayed at all the rest in Chicago and Viceroy has them beat by far in terms of service, location, food/bed, views, etc.
Only downside would be no spa, but there are a million close by so don't worry about that.
The restaurant is incredible, rooftop bar one of the best views/vibes in the city. Lobby and Front Desk staff are second to none, making you feel special but in a really organic way. No weird boujee vibes here, just class and warmth.
Thanks Viceroy for making my birthday one to remember!!
Great experience at the Viceroy Chicago! Francisco was amazing and really understood what I was looking for when I asked for drink recommendations. Everything was great, and we had a wonderful family experience!
Beds were extremely comfortable, room was clean, nice location, friendly staff.
I wish the pool was open later into the day.
I enjoyed my stay at the Viceroy. The room and decor were beautiful. The staff in the hotel were very accommodating. I couldn’t ask for a better experience.
I had a wonderful stay at Viceroy Chicago and was especially impressed with the service from an advisor perspective. Prior to arrival, the team reviewed all of my included rate perks and confirmed that an upgrade had been provided, which made the arrival experience feel very seamless.
We arrived before our room was ready, and the hotel happily held our luggage while we did some shopping along Michigan Avenue. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly welcoming and very child-friendly, which is worth noting for families considering the property.
The hotel has a true boutique feel, especially impressive given its location in an area with so many larger luxury hotels. You're also only about a 10-minute walk from Oak Street Beach, which is fantastic for skyline views, people-watching, and enjoying Lake Michigan.
Breakfast at Somerset was excellent, with generous portions and a great atmosphere. We also returned for cocktails and really enjoyed them. The rooftop pool deck was another highlight, with a daytime bar, relaxing loungers, and comfortable couches where you can settle in and enjoy the city views without necessarily being at the pool.
This is the second year I have chosen to host a special event at the Viceroy and it exceeded my expectations once again! Very special shoutout to Dolce, who made the vision come fo light and made the planning process enjoyable and seamless. Another shoutout to Kendall and the rest of the banquet team for everything during the event, they truly made me feel at ease for the full duration. The feedback received was all positive and highlighted the sushi and seafood stations, the outdoor games, and the ambiance of the space. I would highly recommend to anyone considering planning an event here. We hope to return next year!
We loved the location and the views. We loved the neighborhood. We loved the hotel pool and lobby area. The staff was great.
The pillows weren't very comfortable. Our shower door leaked water and our tub drain wasn't working correctly. Not allowing access to the pool area after 5pm was a bummer.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Viceroy Chicago! The location is perfect with so many restaurants, shops, and attractions are within walking distance. The view from my room was amazing, and the rooftop pool views were even better. The staff honored my special requests beyond what I expected, which made my stay feel extra special. Room service was very fast, and I loved the convenience of having the minibar in the room. My only note would be the valet process, if there isn’t an open space along the curb, you may have to double park while waiting for valet. Other than that, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay again.
Spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Rooftop bar with great views. Nice restaurant on the first floor. Great location.
Pool is very small and there are very few loungers.
Outstanding experience! Super well located, amazingly well treated and with everything you may need (gym, poll, restaurant)!
I have hosted leadership meetings for our company 1-2 times a year for the last 5 years at The Viceroy. I will also stay here with my wife when I come to the city. The hotel has a boutique vibe, and the rooms are comfortable. They have a variety of meeting room combinations for various sized groups that are all very nice. The location is great (walking distance to some great restaurants and shopping).
We see the same Team members every year when we return. I think that says a lot about a business. Shout out to Randy and Mario in the banquet department for always being responsive and accommodating. (Even when I throw last minute changes at them). I highly recommend the Viceroy for a couples weekend in the city, or for a small to mid-size business meeting. Either way, you will not be disappointed.
