- noise proofing is poor- you hear rooms above
- bar closes at 9
- reception is often left unattended
- incredibly inflexible (charged us $75 dollars for a 20 min late check out, without even giving us a heads up they would do this). We had also gone by the reception earlier precisely to check out and no one was there.

Pros:

We really enjoyed our stay! The location was perfect, and the staff were very friendly and gave us great recommendations for things to do nearby. The rooftop bar was definitely the highlight! the atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious, and the view was stunning, I could sit and watch the surfers for hours.

Cons:

The only downside was that the room was quite dark and didn't get much natural light. Other than that, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend it.

Loved the Surfrider in Malibu!
Pros:

Charming, with beachy California vibes. Loved the aesthetic, took lots of photos. The Rooftop Deck is such a bonus — coffee in the morning, free cocktails in the afternoon, and delicious, imaginative farm to table dinner choices. Zach and Merrick (bartenders) deserve a special mention for setting the bar high (pun intended). Sophie @ reception as well. The housekeeping staff is so friendly and kind, always a smile on their faces. We were so sad to leave!

Cons:

On PCH, so if you have trouble w street noise (including the inevitable sports cars speeding by at 2AM), then you might avoid. Don’t imagine listening to the waves, bc the traffic won’t let you. Despite all that, we slept well and loved this property.

Uncomfortable . Staff is generally either missing or down right rude . Not worth it .

The rooms are clean and the bath is relatively good .

Cons:

1- It was a challenge to find anyone at the reception .
2- The hotel has supposedly a bar restaurant that they advertise it is for hotel guests only . I go to the bar at 6:30 pm . They would not serve me because they claimed they have a private function and asked me to come back later !!
3- The rooms are adjacent to the parking and are noisy .
Overall I don’t recommend this place. Despite the redecoration and cleanliness , it is still a cheap motel but at 4 times the price .

As relaxing a place as you’ll see in Southern California

I just love this place and the retroness of it. The rooftop is my favorite place and Zach, the bartender/barista whatever is needed guy, is the man to talk to about Malibu.

Cons:

Loved everything. Although I wouldn’t mind a coffee or espresso machine in the room.

Bad ,Bad, Over Priced for non-functioning down scale hotel. Facilities and staff were forth rate

Room was below the second floor kitchen --- loud until 10:15 pm and at 6;45 am,
TV signal was erratic -- cutting in and out
Electric Vehicle charger did not work
Front Desk person did not have a clue on any failing facilities -- or seem to give a rip.
Resort fee plus parking fee -- not good

Beautiful hotel but noisy, dark graund floor rooms were super disappointing
Pros:

We were so excited to stay at this boutique hotel. The photos are lovely, and the decor and aesthetics are beautiful. We had no idea it was across the street from the beach (not on the beach) and it sits at a very busy intersection. Between the nonstop traffic and the dark, ground-floor room vibrating w/ the cars and the people upstairs, it was immediately disappointing. We tried to get out of our second night and no such luck. They looked at me like that was an insane request and dismissed it outright. Sigh. If you are a heavy sleeper and don't mind highway noise and vibrations, it is otherwise lovely.

The worst experience at a hotel
Pros:

this was a horrible experience. The worst experience I have ever had at a hotel.
The kitchen was out of service. There was no soap in the bathroom.
They were completely disorganized, and there were bugs in the bed.
