Everything about the hotel was nice, friendly staff nice rooms and handy with the shop next door

Confusing layout! Room 209 was on the first (not second ) floor and incumbents had to leave and return from a side door for which the electronics were less than reliable. "Press for Exit" meant, "Press, hold and sweep your electronic key to open the Exit oor all at once... that took three hands (which somehow I managed!) . But what about a fourth hand for my luggage??!! (I was a solo traveller.)

Great location, had everything that was needed
Location was perfect for our needs, with good off street parking. Room was a good size, very clean, with a comfortable bed. Staff were very polite and helpful. Secure access after hours was good.
Bathroom could have been a bit bigger with more storage/surface space. The bed had something like a 10 tog quilt, which wasn't ideal given the recent overnight temperatures.
It was awesome to have a guaranteed parking space in an otherwise very busy town centre. It was very easy to walk to the castle for the concert we were going to.
This hotel was a bit further away from the town center than I'd anticipated, but it was an easy walk (down hill to the hotel)

The rooms were full of outdated, dusty soft furnishings and faded and dusty artificial flowers.
The hotel is outdated and customer service was basic and rushed, even though it was not busy.
There was no breakfast or refreshments available and the tea and coffee and toiletries that were advertised to go with the room were basic and uninviting.

The shower wasn't working..water was cold, and the jet of water hit the wall, but we did mention it on check out and was told they will sort it
