The hotel was clean and fancy with nice staff, but lacked a lot for the price.
Pros:

The staff was nice and the property was extremely beautiful and clean.

Cons:

The breakfast was horrible and cold, my husband even got a waffle they made and brought out cold. Thank goodness I paid for the breakfast through Booking.com otherwise two continental breakfast extremely cold would’ve cost us over $50! Ridiculous!! The night we stayed at the hotel lost power about 2:30 in the morning and didn’t get it back till almost 6 AM. They had a outside, but it only ran the hallway lights in the lobby. Apparently, the staff knew it was supposed to happen. They kept saying they were gonna get power back and never did my nephew and husband have sleep apnea machines that didn’t have power therefore they couldn’t breathe while they slept.. my corner King room (I paid extra for ) had two giant walls of window windows and they put a 65 inch TV in front of one of the entire sets of windows therefore I couldn’t even see out of it. My corner king room had two tables in it and only one chair! Therefore, my husband, myself and any guest would have to sit on my bed.

Wonderful Raleigh summer getaway!
Pros:

Absolutely everything! Always love it here! The staff was perfect! Very welcoming and informative! Even loaned me a fan!! The room is always wonderful. The pool is fantastic. The breakfast was verrrry good! Wonderful buffet.

Cons:

Dinner is usually good here but this particular stay ( July 19th) the food was so heavily sweetened it ruined my dinner. The salmon was way too sweet, my Brussels were too sweet… I didn’t understand what had happened. My first two visits there the salmon was sooo incredible but it seemed like the menu had changed or either the chef. I went to bed a bit disappointed.

Great Hotel but Short Staffed not 4 stars.
Pros:

The hotel was very nice, free parking, wifi and water for Marriott members. Hotel is in a quiet area and relaxing. TV had lots of channels and breakfast was excellent.

Cons:

Hotel is short staff. If you are depending on the restaurant as your primary source of food or drinks good luck. There was only one person taking care of the bar and people in the restaurant. Our server forgot us for our drinks and we waited 30 minutes then left. I was ready to spend $100+ but walked away. Pool area had a lack of towels. We had our own towels so we were fine. Be prepared for a plan B for food, drinks and other misfortunes. We left messages to the restaurant the day before but no one returned our calls. For a four star rated hotel, I expect better service. It should be three stars at best.

Pros:

3.5/5 stars
The bed and especially bathroom were quite nice. I feel the lack of a mini fridge or a small kitchenette brought my view of the hotel down along with construction upstairs that was quite loud, that I was not briefed on. Additionally, there was some staining/decay in a small part of the room. The restaurant had excellent food, albeit overpriced. The pool and outdoor patio were pretty standard. I enjoyed the view I got at least. This was better than most hotels I’ve stayed at but improvement is needed in some aspects. Staff were very kind to me!

Charles and Tristan made a hard week feel human
Pros:

I arrived at the StateView in rough shape — recovering from pneumonia and bronchitis, exhausted, and honestly just looking for a quiet place to rest. I wasn't expecting much beyond clean sheets and a door I could close.
Charles and Tristan at the front desk changed that before I even got to my room. They weren't just professional — they were present. They noticed I wasn't well, asked how I was doing like they actually wanted to know, and made sure I had everything I needed without making me feel like a burden. That kind of attentiveness doesn't come from a training manual. It comes from people who genuinely care about the person standing in front of them.
The room was beautiful — quiet, flooded with natural light, immaculately clean. But what surprised me most was the grounds. The next morning, I spent time just sitting near the lake, watching the water, not doing anything at all. I can't remember the last time a place made me feel like doing nothing was enough. There's a quality to this property that's hard to describe — it doesn't rush you. It doesn't overstimulate. It just holds space for whatever you need.
By the time I checked out, I felt like I'd recovered more than just my health. I felt like I'd reconnected with something I'd been too busy to notice I'd lost.
If you're looking for a hotel, the StateView is excellent. If you're looking for a place that reminds you to breathe, it's one of a kind.
