Remarkable experience living inside a 2,800-year-old ancient city
Pros:

Our large master room was on the second floor, and we could see out onto the rooftops, which was quite cool. The room was nicely decorated, spacious and comfortable. It was also very quiet, which allowed us a good, deep sleep. On both nights of our stay, they left us little local craft embroidered drawstring bags during turn down service, which was a lovely surprise.

We're very thankful to Crystal and Leo, who took good care of us during our stay and were very accommodating to our needs and requirements. Crystal also very kindly shared with us worthy and must-see attractions while we were in Pingyao Ancient City.

On our day of departure, we had a late train to catch, and Crystal very kindly offered us a late checkout so we'd still have a place to rest. Just so we wouldn't have to rush, they also asked if we'd like to have our takeaway meal in their dining hall instead of on the train, which they very kindly accommodated.

It is truly remarkable to be able to say we lived inside an almost 2,800-year-old ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. While Jing's Residence is only about 280 years old, it's no less remarkable of an experience. Chinese hospitality is truly world-class.

Cons:

They seemed understaffed and were rushing. We expected a slower pace since the property doesn't have that many rooms, and that's why we booked it in the first place—to have some solace from the hustle and bustle outside.

We also decided to try the dinner menu and have to say it was a stark contrast from actual local meals. The flavours were not representative of the local cuisine; they were much safer and blander. The meal felt like it was largely pre-cooked and only dished up for serving. Considering the price we paid for the stay and the menu, which was about RMB280, we had expected a more intentionally curated dining menu.

I do wonder if it was to cater to their predominantly Western clientele because, during our two nights there, we seemed to be one of two Asian travellers staying there.

Magnifique hôtel de charme
Pros:

Tout est parfait, un petit hôtel de charme dans un vieux bâtiment très bien rénové, en plein cœur du quartier historique, très calme et plein de charme. Personnel très accueillant, et qui m’a bien aidé avec les réservations. N’hésitez pas à les solliciter via le site de booking pour leurs demander de vous réserver vos transports et excursions.

Un havre de paix et de discrétion
Pros:

Franchement, manquer cet incroyable boutique hôtel à Pingyao serait une erreur. Dormir dans une ancienne bâtisse de 260 ans construite par un commerçant de soie et rénovée de la plus belle des manières, mêlant l'ancien au moderne, est une invitation au voyage en soi. Assurément le meilleur établissement de la ville

Location comodissima in pieno centro storico (attenzione che non è accessibile alle auto). Struttura bellissima nel rispetto della costruzione originaria.
Staff premuroso e accogliente sin dalla cena a tarda ora del giorno del ns. arrivo.
Stanza spaziosa e pulita.

El mejor hotel, en la mejor ubicación y con un staff que lo da todo

El hotel es de los mejores de los que hemos estado en China. La ubicación es excelente, y el personal es lo mejor del hotel. Desde el primer momento Crystal nos hizo sentir como en casa. Tuvimos un problema al dejarnos una cartera en el hotel anterior y Crystal coordinó todo para que la enviaran al siguiente. El desayuno internacional es excelente y a la carta.
En Pingyao el tiempo parece que se ha detenido.
