Easy to find. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good, the poached eggs were perfect.
Unfortunately, it was too hot, the fan was really noisy in one room, and wasn't in the other. A lot of the items it said were in the room weren't there. The TV ariel was hanging out the wall, so it didn't work.
We were just unlucky to visit during a heatwave, I am sure at a more optimum time of year it would have been fine.
The hotel lovely fantastic food staff very friendly and helpful honestly fantastic pace to stay
The room was I need of an update damaged bathroom door looked like someone had given it a good kick in need of makeover and the bed needs to go no headboard at the base of the bed only the middle left the pillows which was flat as anything although they gave you more if asked they all flat and kept sliding down the back of the bed the mattress wasn't comfortable either I woke up with such a bad back worst night's sleep I have ever had.
It was also very noisy slot of banging from doors shutting all through the night .
Very good breakfast, room very comfortable, staff very friendly, would definitely use this hotel again if visiting the area.
I am more shower person, so not a fan of bath shower, but fully understand a bath covers both choices, so support handles would be nice, I am 73 and just had knee surgery.
Breakfast very nice.
Traffic noise. Impossible.
The hotel is quite dated but we had a very comfortable stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. Great value for money.
It needs some updating as looks tired and dated.
Handy for the ferry
Nothing
Old hotel with a lot of history. Had a good stay. The room had what we needed. Breakfast was very good (continental and cooked). Location is great near the edge of the city if you want to stay for a few days and explore the area with car.
The room was a bit small
Room was as advertised, and although the little puppy I had with me wasn't 'officially' booked in the staff were very accommodating. Even though the room was facing the roundabout and cars periodically passed - I got a great nights sleep (6 hours of sold sleep which is something I never experience when sleeping). All in the the entire expense was very welcoming and homely. Will recommend to anyone.
The old charm it has, a mixture of the past and the present. The staff couldn't have been better. And I was arriving back to the room late on the Saturday night/Sunday morning, the staff reassured me that access into the hotel will be available at such times. Incredibely helpful.
Bed comfortable.
Very noisy from roads and no double glazing
The staff were very proffessional and very helpful,
The issue I had was that I had to take my partner to work at 4.15 when I arrived back to the hotel at 4.45 am I couldnt get into my room as the key wouldnt work no emergency number or out of hours help I was very late for work as I asked the breakfast staff to help but that was 6.45 should have been at work at 6.30 am in Whiteley they were not happy
Excellent breakfast
Bed not that comfy abd not much room around bed
Excellent breakfast
Good location from ferry port for an overnight stay, good evening meal, homemade pies were lovely, very friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel is a little dated and tired but that added to its charm for me.
The hotel was reasonably priced and very convenient for Southampton. Our room was quite small but it was at the back so the road noise was okay. We had a fan as it was a really hot night. The bathroom was tiny but it was passable. Little details such as there was no plug in the sink was annoying. Breakfast was good and included in the price. Staff helpful .
It was very disconcerting at breakfast when water started dripping through a light fitting onto one of the tables. Apparently room six shower leaks - I can’t understand if the hotel knows this they don’t do something? This is dirty water and unacceptable.
Dinner very fulfilling, and nice bar and back area
Noise from a family or someone putting on their TV at 5.30am and then talking loudly, I had a disturbed sleep which ruined my Saturday, think it was the couple with a dog-pathetic
Staff was excellent
The location was good food was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
The beds weren't very comfortable and shower in our room was not working properly it needs a good clean or change. The fan could be a free standing fan instead of a benchtop one.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast was reasonable.
The hotel is very shabby and could do with an overhaul. Peeling paint, weeds growing everywhere outside. Not appealing at all.
The inside was dirty - cobwebs around the window sills in the bar area, and the bin in our room still had the previous visitors rubbish in.
The bed had the thinnest mattress I have ever seen.
There were large holes in the woodwork in the bathroom door - big holes as if someone had tried to break the door down.
