Harbour Hotel & Spa Sidmouth

Nothing it was lovely!

I feel that the hotel stay was overpriced at almost £700 for two nights. I booked my stay for a big birthday celebration & unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The balcony area was an open deck, which means other guests can access the space & it didn't feel private.
The spa area is small & would become easily crowded. There were a few maintainance issues with the spa area & room, which made it feel tired. For example, the carpet in my room was worn & slats on the balcony decking were uneven & unpainted in areas.
The staff were friendly, but sometimes carried on conversations with each other before attending to guests. I would expect greater attention to customer service for a hotel at this price point.
A complimentary gin was left in the room, but I don't drink and so I missed out on this perk. It would be a good idea to provide an alcohol free alternative.
The additional £10 charge for a cooked breakfast also seems very odd, given the overall price of the stay!

It’s was very hot , not complaining about that , but no air conditioning, we were in a snug room 2 floor which was extremely very very hot , Thursday night was unbearable, fans were supplied, to rooms , could not have stayed there otherwise,maybe should consider mobile air conditioning units ,
The other thing that was a bit off putting, was running out of continental breakfast supplies, had to ask on several occasions where supplies had been used, butter , bread, croissants, ham , orange juice ,
No one seemed to be roping up supplies unless asked , most hotels have dedicated staff doing this ? Not one seemed in charge of breakfast,
One other thing, having ordered from light bite menu , food was bought to table , no cutlery or anything, just put in front of me and walked off ??? The young lad I did see apologised, and bought out the cutlery and condiments, just seemed very unprofessional.
I just think they need to up there game on these two incidents

The balcony to our room was damaged see picture. My wife is disabled and struggled with a shower in the bath. We expected a walk in shower.
Parking is a disaster, just one disabled site. On first night we had to pay £8.80 to park opposite in the public car park as hotel car park was completely full.
The worst experience was being unable to sleep on Saturday night due to the thumping music from the wedding event going on directly below us. We were not warned about the event planned other than a member of staff did say there would be a few more people in the hotel, in fact 88. The wedding guests monopolised the hotel facilities and the outside sun deck.

The bathroom was small, my towel rail was on . The gap was so small that my leg was touching it when I sat on the toilet. I burnt it on several times .Maintenence explained the issue and resolved it but as an overweight person it was hard to move around.

Very small room. Wants of repair (loose decking, cracked tiles, etc.). Limited parking. Understaffing.

Room needs air conditioning

Very hot in the room. However the receptionist really helped to find ways to cool the room down.
I expected more from the continental breakfast.
