Location, history
The noise was incredible all night, had booked an executive room which wasnt cheap, most of toiletries were empty, bed was really uncomfortable and went down in centre! Could hear conversations in other rooms and the noise in corridor all night was awful. There was noise from outside aswell but with location I expected that. When I mentioned about noise on the checkout the female receptionist completely ignored me. The young guy who checked me in was more than pleasant and helpful, definitely not the same experience checking out. Very disappointing stay in what was supposed to be a treat.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was cosy and clean. The location was 100% as we were in Belfast to visit the titanic museum.
I felt the background music wasn’t exactly fitting for a hotel with so much history.
Location, superb room, friendly staff and very informative regarding the Titanic history.
The bar area could do with a few more high tables for eating. Breakfast could have been a bit better, needed tomatoes or beans etc plus not a lot of choice for our 9 year old Grandson, he would have loved pancakes or waffles.
The decor, location and overall general atmosphere of the hotel.
Our room was extremely claustrophobic, we were overlooked by a large grey wall and other rooms making the room very dark with no privacy. The rooms facing us all had sheer curtains offering them privacy, we did not have the same privilege, we had to close the blackout curtains to keep our dignity which made the room even darker as the lighting is not great. Our bed consisted of 2 single beds pushed together with no attempt to disguise the fact, this made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were very flat and uncomfortable. I have stayed here before and haven't experienced this the other times so maybe just a bad room? We had to leave early due to a family emergency, in doing so I left a blouse on a hanger as id planned to carry it like such to the car. When I phoned up the hotel to ask them to put it aside for me the receptionist said she had no record of my stay and that the name didnt match the record for the room, I explained that I had booked through booking.com and had receipts to prove my stay, also the card that the room cards came with. She then back tracked and said she found my details, after less than 1 minute on hold she informed me I had left nothing behind and hung up. I rang back the next day to speak with a different member of staff, I explained my situation and assured him I had definitely left the blouse in the room, if it was discarded I would not cause a fuss but would like the decency of an honest reply. I was assured I would receive a follow up call after lost property was searched, 4 days later I am still waiting on a response.
Location and nautical theme was excellent.
Lots of young staff that didn’t quite know what good customer service was. Said to bring my bags to room however had to go down stairs after still not arriving for over half an hour. Had a meal in restaurant and tables were not cleared around us and meal was not as good as I was hoping. Overpriced.
The conversion from original H&W office complex to hotel has been accomplished sympathetically and maintains a nod to its original purpose as a ship design centre. Little touches like the pictures in the walls harking back its ship building heritage, the way room numbers were projected on the walls outside the room and the "studs" in the room doors.
The wonderful airy restauarant areas with a good selection of wines
Ideal for visiting Titanic Experience and taxi cost into Belfast centre reasonable.
Didn't like the fact that I had to send back my overcooked steak and the replacement was still not as medium rare as I would have liked.
Lack of nearby alternative eateries but understand that area is still under development
Decor, Rooms, restaurants and bar
Shower could be better
Proche du centre ville et le lieu historique où se trouve l'hôtel.
Les repas au bar sont très bons.
Rien
Lovely rooms and corridors. Food in the restaurant was excellent.
Food/snacks in the bar very poor value for money, not as described on the menu, long wait for service.
Beautiful clean and nice big rooms with a good bed. Lovely staff
Location
Comfortable and clean
Good location, comfortable beds, hot water and decent towels. Staff were very helpful and friendly
My room was situated next to the air conditioning and heating systems and I could hear it and feel the vibrations 24 hours. I couldn’t get served at the bar on two separate occasions because the staff seemed to be more concerned making cocktails, collecting and cleaning glassware. It was a Saturday afternoon and night, but they should be able to predict this and flex the staff accordingly. Very poor customer service in this area.
Room 116 very noisy. No double glazing. Busy traffic noise. Room next to hotel generator or air con unit extremely noisy all night. We got very little sleep. Staff un attentive throughout. Only genuine customer service was from Tyler on reception. The rest never even greeted you or asked if everything was alright. Hotel aesthetics were great. Stunning decor.
Customer service none exsistant. Tyler on reception was good. But Bar restaurant staff ignored you. Had to go bar to ask for a drink. Plenty of staff on but they just stood around chatting. Breakfast staff poor. Waited for coffees and had to ask 2 staff before going to desk to enjoy. I said to one will you follow request up and he said she will do so I had to do myself. Food very under par at breakfast. Although good at dinner. Two staff had an argument at the side of our table. Spilt food on floor not mopped up. Room noise unbearable. No sleep. Road noise. Windows nut double glazed to block it out. Room over hotel generator or air con unit. Noisy all night. No sleep. 3 in the room but teas and coffees only set for 2 and just enough for one drink . A bit mean with these.
We were really looking forward to our stay here unfortunately, it came up someway short of expectations.
The pro's are:-
Fantastic and historical old building.
Our room was very well appointed and the bed comfy.
The hotel is plastered with Titanic and White Star memorabilia which is superb.
The location is ideal for all things Titanic
The Bar is the centre and heartbeat of the hotel and all the staff we encountered were first rate.
Reception were very efficient both for check-in and out.
Cons:-
Getting into Belfast itself can be a 40 minute walk. Should the weather be inclement the taxi bills add up somewhat.
The airconditioning in our room was stuck on freezing no matter how high we set the gauge.
Breakfast was, at best chaotic which left me having to find the necessary cutlery for the table.
The cooked breakfast choice was buffet only and rather sad looking. No colour i.e. tomatoes etc. Sausages were bland and the bacon congealed in the pan.
Concierge was non existent on arrival. For a hotel which charges the very top rates, I expect a hand with my bags both from the taxi and up to our room.
This hotel is too expensive!
We visit Belfast a lot and would not chose this hotel again. There are better high-end options in the City Centre.
Such a shame, we really wanted to love this place and will always visit the bar, however, we wouldn't stay here again.
Oh, also, try responding to your Tripadvisor reviews!
An excellent hotel in every aspect. Staff are friendly, rooms are really well appointed and the food is fantastic. Situated in a in an area that is easy access walking into the city. Highly recommend. Not to mention the Titanic experience and history in the hotel is an experience in itself.
