Bad, just a bad remodel with modern cheap furniture
Pros:

Rooms are very badly outfitted for a castle. Worst castle experience across Ireland over 3 trips. This is the worst castle among them. Only pretty from the outside. Rooms small

Cons:

Food not great, had to carry bags a long way via stairs. No AC. cheap white furniture in castle rooms. We spent over $1100 for two nights. So not worth it. terrible terrible experience. The pictures online are super deceiving

Pros:

The rooms were very very small and modern but rubbed down. We booked dinner for 10 on our honeymoon and were moved to a hallway where they forgot to turn on the light and we were dying of heat. it took them 45 min and prodding to get a drink menu. I would have left of relatives were not there. I’ve never left a bad review for anything but this experience made me cry on my honeymoon. Bad castle renovation with 1960s light fixture and broken okra looking furniture in a really small room. Only pretty from the outside.

Really the worst renovation of a castle ever. We have stayed in many castles and never seen anything this bad. The outside is great, inside looks like broken ikea white/1960s and not in the MCM good way….. really I cried and felt totally embraced I brought 10 people here.

Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at Kilkea Castle. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond by providing us with complimentary connecting rooms of a higher category than we had booked. The archery and billiards facilities were a great addition and helped make our family stay even more enjoyable.

Cons:

One area for improvement would be communication regarding breakfast arrangements. During our stay, the breakfast location had been moved from the restaurant on the grounds to the castle itself, but we were not informed in advance, so we had to walk back after arriving at the usual venue. In addition, the breakfast service was quite slow, which made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been.

Great place
Pros:

Setting, staff, building

Cons:

Had to leave early before they served breakfast, said they would organise a breakfast bag to go, very poor considering we paid for a full breakfast. Couple mini factory danish, a yogurt and a banana. Just think more effort could have taken place.
