What a find! We stayed in a refurbished family room that was spotless, very generously sized and with everything you need. The staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. We arrived very late and the night porter was as accommodating as if we were checking in at 3pm. Breakfast was lovely and the service and set up was representative of hospitality in its glory days.

Rooms are dated and food was ok but not great. Wine list was very limited.
The property is an old building and it would have been very nice when built, I noticed there was some painting going on in areas.
I can imagine it being very expensive to redecorate everywhere all at once but it just needs some TLC. Location is fantastic. Staff members quickly sorted out the issues. Replaced TV remote, put a fan and a mini fridge in the room.
The bathroom in the room we stayed in was in need of an upgrade.. the swimming pool needs a lot of maintenance it was very grubby loose grab rails dirty floors. I’m recovering from knee operations so I was very concerned of the stability of grab rails at the side of the pool. It has grubby tiles.
Such a lovely welcoming traditional hotel where nothing is too much trouble.

If we have to travel on a Stranraer ferry again we’d have no hesitation in staying back here again.

we were unable to park one evening due to an event which was very inconvenient as my partner can’t walk to far and we had to park away from the hotel then walk again to retrieve in the morning
maybe have resident parking when these events are on as cars were double parked

Had a nice beautiful bathroom but the shower pressure was really bad . Spend all that money for two night to have a poor shower
