Pros:

It was very comfortable. Nice room, good coffee maker. Excellent 24 hour service desk - some staff very kind and helpful (nothing actually wrong with the others!). Clean, efficient.

Cons:

Breakfast queue was very long on several days - very slow service

Definitely Coming Back
Pros:

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alt Hotel St John's NFLD, May 15th for 2 nights. Room 428 was the base of operations. The room had what is called a panoramic view and offered a spectacular view of not only the harbor but, weather permitting, Signal Hill. The Alt is right on the water front: any closer and you'd be in the water. While there are other properties offering a harbor view room, this usually comes with other buildings in the way. The hotel offers a restaurant but be sure to get there before 10 pm as he kitchen closes at that time. There is a coffee shop close to the check in counter. If its sunny, have your coffee on the patio. Pubs and restaurants are nearby as is George Street, about a 15 min walk away.

The rooms at the Alt tend to be somewhat tight but just how much do you spend in your room when you should be out exploring. Cape Spear, the furthest most point in North America is a quick 15 minutes away.

This was my first time touring Newfoundland and was gobsmacked by the raw beauty. I plan to come back again and will definately stay at the Alt.

Es hat uns gefallen, aber wir gehen nicht wieder hin.
Pros:

Man konnte fast alles vom Bett aus bedienen. Die Beleuchtung im Badezimmer war der Hammer.

Cons:

Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis war einfach schlecht. Die Sauberkeit im Zimmer war mangelhaft.

A clean and comfortable with European-style amenities and design. Excellent cafe and restaurant
Pros:

Never stayed at an Alt Hotel before. Honestly, was impressed with the care taken with the design and amenities. I like the built-in tech as I often need to work even when on vacation (as I did this time). Little things like benches and lots of counters in the bathroom and the nightlights on sensors were great little touches. The food at Terre and the coffee were also better than expected and actually better value than some of the local restaurants which was surprising given the calibre of food and service

Cons:

This is my first time in St. John's and frankly there wasn't that much to do nearby, especially when it was drizzly and foggy. We had to dig around to find something to do. The front desk tried to help but many of the suggestions were more suitable to younger guests. I had my parents with me so pub nights weren't suitable.

And going back to nightlights on sensors. In retrospect, they were too bright and we couldn't figure out how to dim them as they would brighten every time somebody was too close to the edge of the bed.

Toujours une bonne expérience au Alt
Pros:

L’emplacement, les équipements dans la chambre (frigo, cafetière, stores électriques) et le confort de la literie qui est incroyable comme d’habitude.
Certaines chambres avec vue sur l eau côté rue sont un peu bruyantes à cause des chalutiers, la c’était côté terrasse c’était calme et très joli
