Alt Hotel St. John's

For our stay at Alt Hotel St John's, we chose a panoramic view room - which was perfect. Though the rooms may be compact, I have never stayed at a hotel where the rooms were so thoughtfully designed. These thoughtful design features ensured that the room felt much larger than the square footage.

Terre Restaurant, at the hotel, is fantastic. I had the best entree that I have ever had while dining there.

Central location. Has underground parking. Clean, well laid out rooms.

Clean, modern, amazing view, having a control panel for the lights, thermostat, and blinds right by the bed, do not disturb/please make up room lights on the room number signs, and we were surprised with a little card with a note and chocolates and a free room upgrade as we were celebrating our engagement!

Very nice hotel in a good location. Clean rooms and wonderful staff. The restaurant menu was a little odd and quite expensive. We got the city view room but the Water View would have been better as the traffic noise from the former is discerning. I would stay here again.

The hotel was fantastic in it's communication leading up to the trip!! The service was exceptional once there and continued at that level our entire stay!! It was wonderful to see how pet friendly it is. I will return with my husband and dog. The location was perfect to walk and see the sights!! Also, many tours had a pick up location at that hotel. The restaurant Terre was amazing as was the Terre Cafe!! Would highly recommend this hotel as a stay in St. John's!!!

Terre restaurant was the redeeming point

I believe the card controls for the lighting and elevators are retrograde. i.e. there is an indication that this hotel is eco friendly from reduced energy consumption because of the card controls when this may not be the case at all. The card controls mean that you need to fumble for your card to operate the elevators. And in the rooms the switches that operate the lights require 4 to 5 seconds of continuous pressing to activate. It is so inconvenient that we left some of the lights on while sleeping because we did not have the patience to turn them off.
The coffee shop closes at 5;00 pm which is when we went down to order sandwiches.

Staff was amazing! I had such great interactions with everyone at the front desk. Location is ideal.

Location is good but a little noisy if you're in a Water St facing room (people in St. John's seem to like gunning motor cycles along there). Room was spotless. Very high tech - a panel that controls everything. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Parking is $20 for 24 hours with in and out privileges (and parking is hard to find in downtown St. John's). Coffee shop in the lobby is good too.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at this very modern hotel. The reception staff who greeted us were very welcoming and friendly.

The parking garage was a little tight getting in and out but was fine.

Our room , whilst not the biggest was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. We had a partial view of the harbour which was nice. We didn’t have any noise problems as other people have said.

The hotel is ideally located for both Water Street and George Street. Getting to Signal Hill from here is straight forward too. The War memorial is a short walk away.

The pubs and restaurants around here have everything you could want and lots of choice. Most of the pubs have nightly entertainment so it’s a great place to stay.

We would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Great hotel. Highly recommend. Staff are super helpful. Location is awesome- close to harbour views, Water St restaurants, George St bars and music, and a primary pickup point for tours. Rooms are spacious and well stocked
