Although not within walking distance of the Royal Mile, this location is well served by bus routes.
Pros:

The concierge staff was superb. Breakfasts were well stocked and offered a variety of options. The location was excellent for Lothian Bus routes 1, 34, and 35 and two blocks from route 27; two minute drive from the Haymarket Airport Tram. Within walking distance are some nice restaurants. The room was comfortable; had control of the thermostat, had a TV, hair dryer, iron and board.

Cons:

Could have used more towels of both sizes. I did ask for an extra and was gladly given one.

Overall comfortable clean rooms with a good location but staff needs to be trained better.

The rooms were very clean and the washrooms were really well maintained as well.

Cons:

To be very honest, the behaviour of some of the staff members was very subpar. On our last day, at around 9 AM, someone randomly tries to open our door when we were asleep. This person had a keycard and I’m thankful that I had applied the doorstopper otherwise he was going to come into my room completely unannounced. After attempting to open the door and failing, he now bangs on the door and claims to be from Maintenance. Really unprofessional and really ruined our morning. Additionally some members of the reception were also a bit rude, eg we asked our room to be cleaned but the receptionist responded with oh we don’t have those services? Excuse me this is a hotel associated with Hilton? And you guys don’t have housekeeping? And then another receptionist (he was of asian origin, very well spoken man very good) told us that yes it is available and we’ll schedule it for your room. This is stuff you expect from a cheap hotel not from the Hampton.

Good hotel 25mins from Royal Mile. Nice rooms and good choice of hot and cold breakfast
Pros:

Good choice at the breakfast buffet. Rooms well appointed, however it seems every room has a interconnecting door to another room!
If you don't like walking into town find out more about the bus services in and around Edinburgh, there are a lot and regularly pass the hotel.

Cons:

Hotel a bit further out of town than we thought, Main routes into historic area were busy with traffic and workers walking in to work. Breakfast area very noisy. Much quieter at night returning back to the hotel.

Gutes Hotel in Altstadt-Nähe - nicht günstig. Sehr geeignet für einen Städtetrip!
Pros:

Super gelegen - nahe zur Altstadt (Fussdistanz). Tolles Frühstücksbuffet, schöne Zimmer.

Cons:

Das Bett war unbequem - einzelne Federn des Unterbettes verklemmen.

Modern hotel with good links into the city.
Pros:

It was modern, the room was a good size with a comfortable bed.

Cons:

The bathroom had the smell of drains. The room wasn’t serviced by 3.30 so we had to ask for clean cups, glasses. No made bed which was disappointing.

Pros:

Ich kann das Hotel empfehlen; die Lage ist großartig, und das Personal ist aufmerksam und freundlich. Besonders hervorzuheben sind das exzellente Frühstück und die Sauberkeit. Ich plane, nach Edinburgh zurückzukehren , und dieses Hotel wir ohne Zweifel meine Wahl sein.

Pros:

Great location with good public transportation. Modern hotel.

Cons:

Water in bathroom sink was not as hot as we like.
Hotel only has two elevators and one was out of service for the last two days of our stay.
Queen Room was smaller then expected and view was terrible.

Nice hotel close to the old town of Edinburgh
Pros:

The breakfast was nice and wide selection of food was available, although the scrambled eggs was not to my taste. There was no wide selection of fruits and vegetables. The area is about 500 meters from where the 'old town' starts so no need to use any kind of transportation to the city centre. Staff was very kind and helpful everywhere and the "gluten free" was a well known thing there, so they were also prepared not just simply nice.

Cons:

The room was quite nice although the windows are fixed so only the air condition system provides some kind of fresh air which was not enough for 2 people. The Queen size bed was also a bit small to us, but OK.
