Their beef burgers with bacon are so yummy! If you go as a group, try their platters which are delish! There is a variety of places to choose from. You can have the kids swimming as you catch up with friends and the weekend is busy with all sorts of kiddie activities. The staff are quite attentive.
Excellent restaurant and staff
The room service was not the best. Stayed for 3 nights and on the 3rd night, the bedsheets were not changed, pillow case changed to a dirty one. Response time is so slow not to mention the lack of amenities like an iron box or basic WI-FI connection. Most of the waiters were really nice and helpful but one specific one was so indifferent. The food was good but as for the accommodation, I would not recommend. No actual slippers provided so you have to shower without because they offer paper slippers. Terrible terrible service. Do not waste your hard earned money here.
The rooms there are dirty, the bathroom fixtures are rotten, rusted and broken. The staff did not make much effort to remedy the situation. That is why I broke off my stay there. I did not get a refund for the unused days, which I stupidly paid in advance. I warn against staying there, as well as paying in advance.
Staff was great and the rooms were perfect. It was nice to find a place outside the city. We didn't visit any surrounding neighborhoods, but it looked to be typical Nairobi suburbs with street side markets and small shops
In general, the stay was good. We noted that the bathroom was flooding and this was reported to the management. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. The food was alittle too spicy though the portions were well african and filling.
I had just booked my room when I read reviews on the page and felt like cancelling the trip..I kept calling and texting just to make sure things are right..Thanks to Michael and Emmanuel who were very patient with me..to an extent of taking photos of the rooms..they assisted in upgrading my room from ground floor to 2nd floor..The trip there was easy by use of a cab..The hotel is clean and nice..The food was very nice especially the buffet breakfast..The rooms were a bit squeezed and the bathroom quite small..I enjoyed my stay at the Smith Hotel..
We went for lunch last Sunday. We couldn't get sitting space other than adjacent to the kitchen.Our proximity to the kitchen meant that we could get to see and hear the going on there..A lady who we later learnt was the manager was shouting at staff while giving instructions. She was all over the waiters/waitresses. We found it demeaning to the staff. This seemed to weigh down on staff which led to confusion when it came to getting the order right. Worse of it all, when the food came, it was half cooked despite waiting for two hours.We had to repack it for recooking at home. In conclusion these were my observations;
1. There was no value for money especially with the smelly half cooked chicken .
2. No attention to detail.
3. Demoralized staff.
4. An overbearing rude manager.
I have always had a wonderful experience at Smith Hotel every time I am there. The staff are extremely accommodating and will always check if on you to ensure you have a good experience. They went over and beyond to help and make sure that my experience was good. I highly recommend this hotel, and please try the pork chops; they are so yummy!
If you want value for your money, this is not the place. The front desk customer service was more than terrible. The employees there could do with at least a basic training on customer service and receiving guests.
I had the worst hotel experience. No value for money. Food orders were delayed and half of the time, they got the order wrong. Staff insensitive of guests. I was charged room service for carrying of luggage from my car to the room. Used dishes stayed at the door step for over 12 hours. No coordination between rooming and restaurant/kitchen. The quality of the towels is a long story. I would never recommend the hotel for anyone, unless there is drastic change. It left a bitter taste in my mouth. Worst hotel experience so far.
I. Called in earlier before leaving my house to confirm if the pool is operational. Given a go ahead but on reaching there was turned off claiming there was a crucial conference in progress. My question is if the pool is not operational why do they waste our time money and resources instead of just being ignorant???? This was my worst experience And I don't think I will ever be there again not even one of my friends is recommended to visit this place. They are biased
The place is the worst place you can ever wish to spend your time, management too bossy clients issues are not tackled as required, food pathetic unqualified cooks. no one cares in this place you gonna pocket out your hard-earned cash but it's not worth the services offered
I was looking for a place to hangout outside the noise and hustle of Nairobi city, and my good friend suggested this place and was happy to meet out for lunch at a short notice.
Weekday meet up was such a good choice as the place was calm with few patrons, I really wanted the quiet.
Reasonable prices of food. The nyama choma(goat barbecue) was the highlight.
I will be back
I like that the locals go here. The room was a bit tight because the bed took up most of the space. There is a restaurant and bar onsite, and a small gym and outdoor pool. Staff were always polite. The only problem is/was the traffics honking at about 0430 every morning
We stayed for 3 nights in The Smith House. We rented a car to drive around in Langkawi. The car rental staff will wait for you outside the departure hall. Please do check thoroughly of your rented vehicles during the handover as there were many scratches from from the interior & exterior of the car. You can also purchase the local sim card in the airport. With The Wave gps app, the drive from the airport to the hotel was easy & only 5 min.
The Smith Hotel was a short storey building, there were mart, pharmacy, DIY laundry shop & restaurants on the ground floor. Right at the end of the building, there is a French restaurant which serve nice French cuisine and wine. Not cheap though but can give it a try.
The check in process was reasonable fast & the staffs were polite. Is a long walk to the room from level 2 as it was connected to another building. The room was very small and has no space to place our luggage at all. The upkeep of the bathroom was terrible as there were toothpaste stains all over the basin's wall, disgusting! There were brown stains all over the mattress when the bedsheet was removed & changed during the housekeeping!
Their breakfast was not fabulous, same set of spreads over the 3 days we had. Hot serving section can be improved & their food was cold & salty. Lousy coffee & tea serving.
Free parking at the hotel & we were advised to park near the hotel entrance. Overall safety was all right though night is crowded & packed by their local in the area.
This is beautiful and clean place to eat, drink and I think sleep. The staff are friendly and service is great. Just about the only place in this part of the world where staff know who customers are. Their new place, Olarro, though still undergoing improvements/new build is also a nice place to relax by the pool or inside. Try it.
Bonsoir
Je fait le réservation une chambre de 2 personnes
Ma mere et mon petit frère montant 125 euros mes fami sont arrivées on augmenté le prix des 125 au 175 euros
Lovely garden, pool and a away from the crazy Nairobi traffic. Family environment. Dinner and tea were well... But the staff were super friendly and helpful.
For the price that we paid I think it was really good overall.
The Rooms were NOT at ALL as advertised. The Beds were not what we had reserved. The staff gave us the accommodations that we had payed for online, but the rooms and beds were all smaller than advertised. We had booked a queen and King suite with two separate bedrooms and we were given a Double and two twin beds. The Rooms were very tiny without room to turn around in, the Bathroom sink Flooded up out of the floor drain if you ran the water for more than 8 seconds. The water in the shower had no temperature control and flooded out from under the glass walls to soak the entire bathroom floor. To the credit of the hotel the facility was very clean and tidy, but I can't recommend staying there without knowing exactly what you are paying for. Do not book online!
