A Beautiful Property Let Down by Confusion, Poor Communication and an Ultimate Stay Package That Simply Doesn't Deliver
Pros:

As a Lifetime Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member who has stayed at Marriott properties around the world for many years, I rarely leave negative reviews. I also appreciate that things occasionally go wrong. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, our experience at Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap has been one of the most disappointing Marriott stays I have encountered.

My family and I are staying for nine nights, so we deliberately chose Marriott because we expected consistency, professionalism and recognition of loyalty. Instead, our arrival immediately set the tone for what became a series of avoidable disappointments.

We arrived after a long journey expecting a smooth check in, only to spend more than 40 minutes standing in the lobby while staff tried to understand our reservation. Nobody appeared to fully understand the "Ultimate Stay Package" that we had booked. Different staff members provided different explanations, there was uncertainty about what was included, and we were simply asked to continue waiting while they tried to work it out.

For a Lifetime Titanium Elite member, this was extremely disappointing. Elite recognition should mean a seamless arrival, not becoming part of an internal discussion about the hotel's own packages. It immediately created uncertainty instead of confidence.

Even after eventually receiving our room, the confusion continued.

Before arrival, I had specifically confirmed the bedding configuration through the Marriott Bonvoy App. Depending on the room upgrade, we required either one or two rollaway beds for our family. Different prices had been quoted by different departments, with one team confirming USD15 per night before arrival, while another later advised USD30. This inconsistency required further clarification when it should already have been organised before we arrived.

The biggest disappointment, however, has been the Ultimate Stay Package itself.

If you are considering purchasing this package, I strongly recommend reading every detail very carefully.

The package appears attractive when booking, but the reality is very different.

Firstly, drinks are not included with dinner. This was never made sufficiently clear before ordering, resulting in unexpected additional charges.

Secondly, despite travelling as a family of five, the dinner provided under the package was effectively a meal suitable for only two people. The portions placed before us were simply inadequate. After finishing dinner, our children were still hungry. I ultimately had to order additional meals through Grab Food just so my family could eat enough.

This completely defeats the purpose of paying a premium for an "Ultimate Stay Package". By the time you purchase drinks separately and order additional food because the portions are insufficient, you end up spending substantially more than if you had simply booked a normal room and ordered directly from the restaurant's à la carte menu.

In other words, the package actually became more expensive than not having the package at all.

The confusion around dining did not stop there.

On multiple occasions we were presented with the full restaurant menu and invited to choose whatever we wanted. Only after ordering were we informed that certain dishes belonged to the à la carte menu rather than the package menu. Nobody initially explained the differences or proactively provided the correct package menu. Guests should never have to discover what they can and cannot eat after placing their order.

This happened repeatedly and created unnecessary embarrassment and frustration for both guests and restaurant staff.

Communication between departments appears to be a significant weakness throughout the hotel. Front Office, Reservations and Restaurant teams frequently appeared to have different understandings of the same booking. As guests, we found ourselves repeatedly explaining our reservation instead of simply enjoying our holiday.

To be completely fair, there were individuals who genuinely cared and worked extremely hard to recover our experience.

Ratha deserves special recognition. He listened, took ownership and consistently tried to resolve problems rather than making excuses. That level of leadership made a noticeable difference.

The restaurant chef also deserves sincere thanks. Our family has halal dietary requirements, and he went above and beyond to accommodate us with genuine care and professionalism. His willingness to adapt meals and ensure our family was looked after reflected the hospitality we expected from Marriott.

These individuals demonstrated exactly what Marriott service should look like.

The hotel itself is also excellent. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the swimming pool is beautiful, the gardens are well maintained, and the overall property is attractive and peaceful. Housekeeping has also been consistently good.

That is what makes this review even more disappointing.

The physical product is good.

Many of the staff are genuinely kind.

Unfortunately, the operational execution falls well below Marriott standards.

No guest should spend almost an hour checking in because staff do not understand their own package.

No guest should have to repeatedly clarify what is included.

No guest should discover drinks are excluded only after ordering.

No family should finish a supposedly inclusive dinner and still have hungry children requiring additional food delivered by Grab.

And no Lifetime Titanium Elite member should feel that their loyalty carries so little recognition during what should have been a premium experience.

I sincerely hope Marriott reviews both this property's operational procedures and the design of the Ultimate Stay Package. The concept may sound attractive on paper, but in practice it represents poor value and creates unnecessary confusion.

If I were rating only the property itself, I would comfortably award 8 or 9 out of 10.

If I were rating Ratha, the chef and several of the frontline team members, they would receive full marks for their effort and professionalism.

However, when assessing the complete guest experience, including arrival, communication, package value, dining experience and overall consistency, I can only rate this stay 4 out of 10.

My advice to future travellers is simple: book the room only. Skip the Ultimate Stay Package and purchase your meals separately. It will likely cost less, provide greater flexibility and avoid many of the frustrations my family experienced.

Expect a pleasant business stay here
Pros:

Stayed for four nights for a retreat.

Although the property declares itself as a five star property, it’s more four point five star as it only has one restaurant, and doesn’t have a spa. Nevertheless, my stay was very pleasant,

Beautifully decorated without appearing too gaudy, there are cold towels upon arrival (sometimes they offer you, sometimes they don’t; they’re stacked on a table right next to the main door).

Rooms are good sized, with a small balcony which overlooks the pool (I see a section with water jets - I didn’t get to use it due to afternoon showers). Bed linen was comfortable, while towels may have tattered ones occasionally. Only English tea was available. Drinking water was very generously replaced daily. I liked the blackout curtains. WiFi was strong throughout the property without needing re-logging in.

Breakfast was quite good, of cos cannot be compared to JW Marriott standards but really still excellent. So smart of them to open up the adjoining rooms to accommodate our large crowds,

The gym was above average size with a large variety of machines and weights packed inside (so it can appear a bit cramped).

I think this is an ideal hotel in Siem reap for small conferences, meetings and retreats!

Great hotel, great staff, excellent tour
Pros:

Hotel was terrific, I would recommend to anyone. Staff were all attentive from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. We arranged airport transportation through the hotel which was seamless, couldn’t ask for better. Fresh, cold towels greeted us every time we entered the hotel, rooms were great. We booked the Angkor Wat temple private tour with Sarak through the hotel and were beyond impressed. This was our second trip and Sarak far surpassed our first guide. I would recommend Sarak to anyone booking a tour, he is an amazing guide.

Overall, just a great experience end to end.

Stay AWAY from this place! Terrible experience.
Pros:

The rooms are spacious.

Cons:

This was the most disappointing expetience at a Marriott hotel that I have ever had, not even close to the standards of a 5 star hotel in any way. The air conditioning of the whole resort doesn't work and it's boiling everywhere, from the lobby to the restaurant, corridors, lift. The staff can't speak english, the manager was completely dismissive and not apologetic at all when I complained that my room's temperature was 25.5 degrees and the AC was broken. He basically said to me that there was nothing be could do and I had to deal with it, he was the rudest person I have ever met in a hotel of this callibre. The food was RIDICULOUS,the fruit looked totally spoiled and there were flies in the fuit balls. The staff cleans the tables with paper napkins, not even proper cleaning products... Also, there were INSECTS in the room, the white slippers provided to guests had a bug inside! There was something wrong with the flush, and the floor around the toilet was all covered in water on the second day of my stay. Also,BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE WATER, as they don't even have a filtration system like a 5 star hotel of this supposedly callibre should have. I've stayed in Marriotts before in other parts of the world and this never happened to me before. The hotel was also very empty, it felt like a ghost hotel. It's such a pity, because the hotel itself is beautiful and we could have had an amazing experience, but the management is absolutely a disaster.

The Courtyard was a great choice.
Pros:

My wife and I recently went to visit Angkor Wat, and stayed at the Courtyard in Siem Reap. While it is not in the city center, it's only a 10 minute cab ride away. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The place was very nice and clean, and the staff made the trip. Sinat at the front desk was so friendly and funny we will always remember her. The staff came out to wave goodbye to us as we left. Highly recommended!

A stay that will always remember
Pros:

My family and I had an amazing time in the resort. From the time we arrived, to make a booking for travelling around, arranging early morning breakfast, till check out was excellent. We love the place.. Special mention to Ms Sokhey - she looked after us very well during our stay. She always check on us at the lobby when she see us to ensure everything is going well. Breakfast selection was awesome. Hotel is located in a great location - away from the noise. Near to Angkor Wat and everything else accesible via tuk tuk.

Cons:

Nothing.

Great Hotel and superb service
Pros:

My hisband and I had a wonderful stay at Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap Resort. The location is very convenient, with easy access to all the major tourist attractions, and arranging a tuk-tuk is always quick and hassle-free.

The staff truly made the experience special—everyone was warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. A special thank you to Sokhey, Samnang, and Pet for making our late evening check-in feel so smooth and genuinely hospitable.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and the food was consistently good. We especially loved the sky bar—the atmosphere and cocktails were fantastic.

Overall, a memorable stay, and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siem Reap.

We Love This Hotel!
Pros:

We just spent 3 glorious nights at the Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap! Their attention to detail and customer service are second to none! Prior to arriving we communicated with Ratha (Assistant Front Office Manager) who made sure my wife's medical diet requirements were met. Once at the property Samnang (front desk), Thauy and Dina made sure we had everything we needed and even brought in a full size bean grinding coffee pot that made such good coffee! Every morning we had a fabulous breakfast in the Lok Lak breakfast buffet which included a very tasty omelet station. And, each night we enjoyed dinner at the hotel in the Lok Lak restaurant where we had the best service from Lay and Janny. The prices were so reasonable, service was impeccable and the fresh tasting delicious food was just what we needed after a long day in the Siem Reap/Angkor Wat hot sun. And, to top it all off, we were so happy to have met Toma (Food & Beverage Manager), who spent part of his day taking us to a few shops in the area helping us negotiate price on a few items we purchased. He really runs a very organized and efficient Lok Lak restaurant which made our stay so enjoyable...when you come to Siem Reap, make this your home for a few days!

Well priced and great service
Pros:

Courtyard Siem Reap is about an hours drive from the airport, SAI, and about a 10-minute drive from the city centre. The hotel provides complimentary parking if you come by car, and their shuttle from the airport starts at $60,and as comparison a Grab car is about $30. The hotel is modern with a nice lobby area with a lounge bar and restaurant and there is a pool and foosball table. There is a rooftop bar on the 7th floor where you also have access to binoculars to see the Angkor Wat at a distance. On the inner courtyard is a saltwater pool with a large jacuzzi with a nice poolside seating area. The gym is on the 1st floor, and has a good mix of machines and weights. The breakfast and the restaurants are great, and if you are looking for something different then it's a couple of minutes ride in a car or tuk tuk. The rooms are nice and big with all the amenities you need. By the way, don't miss the happy hour on the rooftop bar, prices are good and it's 2 for 1! Overall a great hotel for exploring Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.

Fantastic Tuktuk Driver
Pros:

We had a great time at the courtyard, especially with our amazing Tuktuk driver Ms Pich, who was very kind and knew all the routes and temples. She was always on time, a great driver and sweet with our kids, she has made this stay extra special for us.
You can contact her directly on WhatsApp +855 89 273 191 or ask at the hotel reception for Ms Pich :)
