Pros:

Comfortable bed, clean room

Cons:

Paying to park, check in attendant didnt explain that card used for parking would also be charged for the room, when the room was already charged to a different card at booking.

The Best place to stay in Pittsburg
Pros:

Everything? Every aspect of our stay was fantastic. The room exceeded our expectations, the food was wonderful, and the staff was amazing beyond belief. The courtesy shuttle made exploring Pittsburg simple and enjoyable. TRUST ME on this: Pittsburg driving is not for the faint of heart. The shuttle made seeing most of the sites and areas a breeze. Marvin was amazing, and full of information, tips and knew all the best locations to visit for a good meal or tasty beverage. Andrea, who we bumped into the most at the Bar/restaurant was just as informative and gave us even more ideas on where to go and have fun. If/when we go back to Pittsburg, we will be staying here again.

Cons:

Well, checking out and going back home really sucked. Not there fault of course but it did mean the trip was over.

For those who are crazy and or in a situation where you have 2 cars to park, they will charge $30 dollars a day for the second vehicle to park on their private lot. There are not many other options located around the hotel to park, so you are going to be more or less stuck with that fee. 99% wont have that issue, but if you are in a situation with 2 cars, it is something to keep in mind.

Location is Fantastic for getting to the main attractions in Pittsburg with ease: BUT I cannot stress this enough, Pittsburg Driving SUCKS. This is not the hotels fault. Just saying it again as I hate driving in Pittsburg.

Quiet Comfortable Rooms, good choice if planning visit to UPitt or CMU
Pros:

PRO: quiet spacious rooms, with platinum status, they upgraded the double room to include a sitting area which made room extra spacious. Some reviews complained about road noise if next to the highway, but our son indicated it didn't bother him. For our king room, I liked the non-carpeted floors and spacious walk in shower. Wife didn't like the shower head as it made the water pressure not so good, but it did have a second hand held shower head so 2 people can shower and not get cold. They provided free shuttle service to nearby Carnegie Mellon University. I did not hear any noise from adjacent room or room above me. Staying on river side had nice view of river and very quiet. On site laundry, $5.50 in quarters for washer and dryer; i brought my own laundry detergent from home. small fridge was convenient to have, allows pets

CON: not near any public transportation like bus stop or rail stop, no adjacent food options, though if you walk across hot metal bridge there are food options like cheesecake factory, slice on broadway (pizza), etc., no microwave in room

Overall, very pleasant stay and would definitely consider staying again the next time I visit Pittsburgh.

Pros:

it was clean and modern. Everyone was nice.

Cons:

I thought it was closer to the Pitt campus. I wasn't able to walk from the hotel, but they do have a free shuttle that takes you anywhere you need to go so that was great!

A very nice facility, good walking trails along the river, I would definitely stay here again

The noise from the highway caused sleepless nights, I would not recommend it
Pros:

The hotel was very nice, amenities were good, and it was very clean

Cons:

My room faced the highway, and the noise was horrible, I barely slept for the 2 nights I was there. They provide ear plugs in the room, so the hotel is aware that this side of the hotel is very noisy. For the price you pay for the room, you shouldn’t have to be subjected to that

Hostile Staff, Lying about Availability, and Threats of Police Intervention
Pros:

I have traveled around 80+ countries and experienced many hotels, but this hotel is one of the worst. I had a traumatizing experience at Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland on the night of April 30th. I strongly advise travelers, especially IHG members, to think twice before staying here.

1. Hostile Service & Safety Threats: After checking in, I found the room unbearably noisy due to the constant roar of traffic from I-376 (located just 400m away). When I requested a room change, the two front desk associates were extremely hostile. Instead of helping, they lied, stating the hotel was fully booked. When I asked for the manager’s contact info to discuss the matter, they threatened to call the police on me. As a guest seeking a reasonable solution, being threatened with law enforcement is a severe breach of safety and hospitality.

2. Dishonesty (Lying about Availability): While the staff insisted there were no rooms, I have screenshots from the official IHG booking channel showing multiple rooms were available for that exact night. This is a blatant lie and a violation of guest trust.

3. Poor Room Quality & Admitted Noise Issues: The room was a disaster for sleep. The pillows were lumpy and offered zero support (see photo). Most tellingly, the hotel provides multiple sets of earplugs on the nightstand (see photos). This is a clear admission that the noise level from the highway is a known, structural defect they cannot fix. Providing earplugs is not a substitute for professional service or a quiet room.

4. Lack of Management Accountability: I have filed a formal complaint with IHG Corporate. Despite my emails to the Front Office Manager and the general hotel email, I have received zero responses. Their silence speaks volumes about their lack of concern for guest safety and satisfaction.
Bottom line: If you value your sleep and don't want to be threatened by staff for making a simple request, stay elsewhere. There are many better options in Pittsburgh.
