Very clean, great location
It's a very expensive place. One of the things that interested me however, is that there are supposedly two on-site restaurants. That's not actually the case. There's no sit down restaurant, or at least it wasn't open the days I was there. You can only place bar food orders at the bar, and it took over an hour for a quesadilla and soft pretzel. On a Thursday evening.
Also, the elevator was broken.
Finally, there's this strange set of doors in the room, which, when opened, completely reveal the shower. I mean everything is wide open.
So if you had kids there or friends, it could be really awkward. For the money, I've been to much nicer places that really accommodate guests properly.
The room
Was
Very nice
The breakfast was horrible
The carpet felt sticky and dirty
They don’t answer there phones at all lol
Location, rooms are clean, valet and bartending staff super friendly and gave great recommendations for after our event.
Check in staff must have been having a bad day…
Location elegance convenience
There was no microwave or refrigerator in the room and it’s too expensive to be like that especially if there’s a $200 hold on your card now I did get one refrigerator sent down or up to my room, but there was still no microwave
Hidden fee
Absolutely terrible experience at the The Laura Hotel. I got off work at 4AM and arrived late for check-in due to my work schedule, and instead of trying to accommodate the situation in any reasonable way, the hotel canceled my stay and kept the money for the ENTIRE reservation — including the remaining days I never even got to use.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I frequently stay at Autograph Collection hotels, including the Hotel Per La, Autograph Collection in Los Angeles, and I’ve never experienced this level of poor customer service before. I chose The Laura expecting the same professionalism and hospitality, but the experience was the complete opposite.
Manager Ericka King was completely unwilling to work with me or offer any kind of reasonable solution, and Parker at the front desk was no help either. There was zero empathy or attempt to make things right despite me explaining the situation.
I understand hotels have policies, but keeping a guest’s full payment while refusing to accommodate them after a work-related delay is unacceptable. For a hotel that markets itself as luxury, the customer service fell far below expectations.
I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere if you value professionalism, flexibility, and customer care.
I stayed at The Laura Hotel for 3 days and 2 nights for a Rockets game. The room was spacious and had an equally spacious bathroom. The waterfall shower was perfection. There was live music at the bar during my stay and they serve phenomenal drinks. And I’m not just saying that because of the drink tickets I received upon check-in. I truly appreciated the staff’s kindness and graciousness. The hotel is only a short 3-block walk to Toyota Center. There is also a METRORail station less than a block away which is a super convenient way to travel around town. I was able to take the METRORail directly to NRG Park for the rodeo. The location is supreme!
I especially liked the proximity to the House of Blues venue and the ease of valet parking. The staff was able to accomadate my request for King bed and the view from my room had several building murals to enjoy.
That I wasn't able to stay longer and take in more of the hotel and area.
