The staff were really lovely apart from one member of staff who was more interested in speaking to an off duty member of staff and left us waiting for a while.
The food was really poor. The very expensive dinner we had was cold.
For breakfast the poached eggs included the water they were cooked in was on the plate, the toast was rock hard and items were forgotten only to be dumped on the side of the plate when asked about. Granted we were told the chef didn’t turn up and they had to get agency staff in but the price (£18 for fish and chips) was very expensive for what you received. My husband had ham egg and chips - the ham was stone cold as were his eggs. I don’t like to leave negative reviews but the only good thing about the hotel were the staff. We paid for two nights but left after one night and came home

Subtley nice . Tastefully decorated. Pleasant staff.
No parking on sight but big council car park 80 yardsaway was free overnight and cheap by day .
The room was Immaculate, all the staff were lovely, our dog was right at home and was allowed anywhere in the hotel.
Leaving!
Hôtel charmant, bien situé dans une très belle région, personnel très sympa et restauration de qualité !
Un simple petit ventilateur pour une personne, alors que nous sommes tombés sur une période de canicule, il faisait vraiment très chaud dans la chambre !
The breakfast was good amount quality and the waitress was lovely.
The floors were on a slope being an old building, they did I not level the bed up properly and my wife rolled out of bed because of the level problem. Couldn’t turn the cold tap on in the bath and when I managed to get it on I couldn’t turn it of. And the bed was very hard. Most unpleasant nights rest I have ever had in a hotel. And the evening meal prices were ridiculous. Luckily found a great local pub and 50 meters away.
Shower ceiling very low , had to bend a little .
Quiet village location ideal as stopover. Good food. Friendly atmosphere. Comfortable room.
Nothing
The bedroom was very comfortable, the bar and outside seating area was pleasant. The breakfast was excellent.
Lovely home made shortbread in the room.
The fan provided in the room was cheap and noisy.
There was no walk in shower.
The bedroom window frames were old and rotten and required repairs
Location edge of Dartmoor moor
Breakfast very good selection
Could have given more beans
Sauces not readily available
Fruit juice & yoghurts superb
Bed comfortable and very clean room
Toiletries really nice
Homemade biscuits & quality teas and coffee.
Allowing dogs in the breakfast room.
I know it was exceptional hot weather the room was very hot and very difficult to cool down With no air on and fans did not work.
Climbing over the bath having to hold the toilet to get in and out for a shower. Not what I expected to do. Very dangerous for older people.
Carpet in the hotel worn.
Pipe going across the top step going to the room I was worried I would knock it.
Comfortable traditional country hotel. A lovely relaxed nd welcoming ambience.
Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Great being able to take my dog and the welcome pack for her was very thoughtful. We had dinner both evenings which was delicious . The rooms are very nice, super comfortable bed. The parking was very near and reasonable. Excellent butchers, pasty was one of the nicest I had had for a long time, nice little grocers as well. Great base for exploring.
Moretonhampstead itself is a bit run down.
Fantastic room, great food
