Viviendo la Condesa
Pros:

A great stay in the heart of Condesa
Pros:

As many travelers said already, the location is really great, in a very safe area in the heart of Condesa and really close to Roma Norte. I also liked the guard that would open the door for you, thus making it even safer as no one can enter if they’re not a guest. The whole place was very clean and in the bathroom we had complementary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The terrace was really nice to start the day with a nice breakfast outside. We had the junior suite and we liked a lot the fact that it had a sort of separate area for the closet and just to leave your stuff, while the bed was separate - and super comfortable by the way!

Cons:

While I read a lot of great comments about breakfast, for us it was a bit plain in the taste, however we understand it might be done on purpose to be on the safer side with many people and different tastes.

Worst hotel experience of my life
Pros:

This hotel is honestly a complete catfish situation. The photos and reviews make it look charming and upscale, but the reality was completely different.

We arrived at Casa Decu around 10:30 p.m. after our flight was delayed and changed. From the moment we checked in, the front desk staff member was cold and unwelcoming. I immediately noticed the hotel looked much dirtier and far more run down than the photos online, but we were exhausted and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt.

When we entered our room, the smell was overwhelming. It reeked so strongly of cleaning chemicals (specifically Fabuloso) that it literally gave me a headache. Ironically, despite the intense chemical smell, the room itself still did not feel clean.

We had booked what was advertised as a “Superior Suite,” but the room was shockingly small. The bathroom was absurdly tiny — you could barely open the door without it hitting the shower glass, and using the toilet comfortably was nearly impossible. There were not even hooks to hang towels. The entire setup felt cramped, poorly designed, and nothing like what was advertised online.

We tried to brush it off because we were excited to be in Mexico City with our family and wanted to enjoy the trip.

The next day, we booked two massages through the hotel. The hotel had texted us before arrival offering “massage & spa services,” which strongly implied there was an actual spa onsite. Instead, the massages were done in the room, which already became complicated because we were traveling with our 2-year-old daughter.

Then things became a mess. The first massage therapist arrived and told us we had only booked one massage, so we adjusted our plans accordingly. Then suddenly a second massage therapist arrived after we had already been told there was only one booking. I calmly explained to the staff that there had clearly been a miscommunication somewhere and even offered to pay 50% for the second massage to be fair.

Instead of handling the situation professionally, three staff members stood there rolling their eyes at me and speaking to me in an incredibly rude and dismissive way. I have honestly never experienced staff behavior like that at a hotel before.

At that point, after already feeling disappointed by the cleanliness, misleading photos, tiny room, and poor experience overall, I looked around and realized I no longer felt comfortable staying there with my husband and 2-year-old daughter. I went back to our room booked another hotel immediately, and moved our family out that same night around 9 p.m. — losing two prepaid nights in the process.

I have NEVER done that in my life.

I genuinely do not understand how this hotel has the reviews it does. This was one of the most misleading hotel experiences I have ever had. There are so many better places to stay in Condesa. Save yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.

Great place to stay in Condesa
Pros:

The building is a lovely listed art deco construction which means there is no permission for lifts or a/c. This is not a problem if you don’t mind stairs ;-)
The staff are professional and courteous and the superior suite is very spacious and comfortable. The beds are comfy although not huge, and the shower has great pressure!
Breakfast is served on the pretty rooftop with freshly cooked Mexican options too.
The area is safe and has a very cosmopolitan feel, near a shady park perfect for walks. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.

Cons:

Very small niggles! The hangers in the wardrobe are uncomfortably high up! And there is some noise in the interior courtyard from machinery - not sure what exactly, but it’s not constant.

Pros:

Nicely renovated, well located properly. It’s a nice touch having a security member 24/7. It’s in a lovely area, staff are helpful

Cons:

Could be a better breakfast selection and check in wasn’t ready on time, other than that we enjoyed our stay!

A boutique hotel in a wonderful neighborhood, but not a room that you wanted to spend extra time in.
Pros:

Casa Decu is a boutique hotel in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Mexico City. The room was reasonably spacious and the bed was comfortable. The neighborhood is spectacular. A great place for walking.

Cons:

The room was not well-laid out and while not small, it was definitely not cozy. The lighting in the living room section was not particularly good either.

Not for us!
Pros:

We stayed at Casa Decu in Mexico City in April 2026. We had originally planned to stay three nights but decided to leave after the first night.

The room lacked some basic amenities—we did not have central air/heat or even a ceiling fan for air circulation. The layout was also quite tight: the bedroom was almost entirely taken up by the bed, with very little additional space. There was a small outer area with a closet and some furniture (no coffee-maker), but it didn’t offset how cramped the main room felt.

The only window had no screen and could be seen into from the staircase, so we had to keep it closed at night for privacy, which made the room feel even more closed in. The bathroom was also quite small.

We also found the response from the front desk disappointing. There was no hot water in the sink, and although we reported it the same evening, we were told it would only be looked into the next day at 10am, which did not feel like an appropriate response.

The hotel is spread across four floors and does not have an elevator, and the stairs are quite steep. This could be challenging if you have large luggage or prefer to avoid frequent trips up and down stairs.

On a positive note, the breakfast terrace was lovely, which is why we’re giving two stars instead of one.

Overall, this hotel just wasn’t the right fit for us.

We booked another hotel after 1 night. Lost our money.
Pros:

If you love a room that is the same size as the bed, you’ll love this place. No chair, no desk, no place to open your suitcase, no problem, this is the place for you. It’s advertised as a junior suite, so if you like a surprise when you find it’s the furthest thing from the description and flown hours to get there, you’re in luck.

Cons:

Deceitful advertising

Good location but not much else
Pros:

Great location, comfortable bed

Cons:

Paper thin walls, you can hear everything. Breakfast included was terrible, only had some bread, fruits and yoghurt, you have to pay extra for the real breakfast which is overpriced. The room itself is not a very nice place to be in, it gives a cold feel and the furniture is dusty.
