Central location, big and beautiful hotel, nice and comfortable rooms, pet friendly. Lots of parking available.
Wifi was not stable.
The National is in a good location in Dingwall, with most local amenities nearby. When we got there, there was no one in Reception, which had a sign to say we had to go next door to the bar/cafe where we met the manager. He was friendly and welcoming and explained the situation around food etc.
The food, whilst more of a bar snack standard, was actually tasty and enjoyable (the burger was good), and cooked by the manager I believe.
We were on the 2nd Floor and as we walked up the staircases, bizarrely the temperature just got hotter and hotter to the point where we were stood outside our door in stifling heat. When we went in our room, it was just as hot, and we found one of the radiators on as well. We were there for 2 nights, and had the window open wide the entire time, which then meant we had disturbed sleep due to traffic and the local drunken eejits howling at the moon.
When I spoke with the Manager about it the next day, even more bizarrely, he claimed not to know anything about it, when all he had to do was go up 2 sets of stairs and he would feel the stupid heat. It was uncomfortable and unbearable.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and the location was very handy for our purposes with plenty of free parking.
Room was a bit tired and the layout was awkward, the bed was quite hard and due to the position my partner felt very boxed in. This meant that we didn’t get a great nights sleep.
Easy access nice size rooms
Late booking in
Value for money. Nice place to layover en route to north of Scotland.
Good value for money
Staff excellent 👍
Location
Nice and friendly and good amenaties
All good
No breakfast, location good
Sauberkeit, Funtion der Dusche, sehr kleines Zimmer,
Did for the night but nothing else
Nothing like the illustrations. Building and facilities very tired. Carpet thread bear in places. Shower poor water flow and loose. Looked quite run down.
I liked that the bathroom was clean and the bedroom was clean and the large desk
I also liked that there was eleven power sockets in the room, so plenty of access to power.
Possibly a choice of different eggs, offered with breakfast, but apart from that there was a good selection of cold food as well.
I was given room 212 and could not see a lift, to get my suitcase upstairs, I was not told if there was lift by the male member of staff who checked me in either.
The television was also dated and not had a recent electrical check, the last test was the 6th of March 2015, eleven years ago, I assumed 2013 was when the TV was first brought by the hotel for that room.
It was a Technika 16 inch which stopped manufacturering in 2013 so possibly a update would be useful for customers as guests expectations with advanced technology such as Netflix and Amazon prime and having this on hotel televisions means old televisions are not able to provide this technology.
However a good thing is that the hotel have been good in keeping the television for so long and protecting the environment
Installing WiFi ceiling antennas known as access points around the hotel floors to help improve consistency of speed, as a example the WiFi does not work in the corridor outside room 212.
Location was handy for our journey
Rooms were small doubles with minimum furniture
