Comfortable, well appointed, great location
The breakfast was excellent , staff very friendly and helpful.
I thought the mattress was very hard .
Room 55 in the Vine House building was beautiful and peaceful.
We loved the period building and the decor and furnishings- all very well thought out.
We stayed in The Eaves apartment, and both bedrooms and beds were a good size, bathroom spacious, staff friendly, nicely decorated restaurant/breakfast area. All very clean, dog wash station outside a nice touch. Breakfast was served with charm.
My biggest complaint is the lack of transparency over additional charges. The dog charge is not explicitly stated on Booking.com, although that information is on their own website (although that wasn't accurate either as it turned out). At £25 extra per dog for a one night stay, this really would have put me off of staying here and that information that should have been readily available on Booking.com.
Additionally, an extra bed cost another £50 without me being advised of this in advance, so all in all, the value just wasn't there.
Although all the staff were very nice in person, I did not appreciate the tone of whoever was replying to my emails (anonymous, as is the modern unaccountable fashion) in advance of my stay, so combined with the feeling of receiving poor value, I wouldn't want to stay here again.
Breakfast and the size of our bedroom, plus the overall ambience of Vine House.
Bath is rather large once you're in it. Parking was quite congested.

Good position friendly staff excellent food
The staff were exceptional.
The breakfast and dinners we had were all excellent.
The emergency sausage for our dog was a particular highlight.
Larger amount of yogurt to granola ratio or a separate bowl of yogurt (you can see we are struggling to find anything we didn’t like!)
Facilities lovely, clean and spacious. gorgeous restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Set in ideal location.
NA
Breakfast Nice. Bit dark having to eat in the lounge by the bar. Vines across the road had much more I interesting room … one of my colleagues stayed there.
Bedroom was rather traditional and straightforward. Only a very bright light in the bathroom. We stayed some years ago when privately owned and the rooms were very much more characterful and quirky.
It was impossible to eat / book a table in the restaurant and as we had booked four rooms felt this was very badly organised that guests could not have a table. We ate in the bar and the food was very mediocre. Poorly served and very expensive for what it was.
Everything
Nothing
We were apprehensive about booking the Vine House, knowing it’s across the road from the main hotel but were pleasantly surprised by the excellent rooms - we had access to a large lounge and a small private garden. The food at the restaurant is also great value and the staff were so helpful. Already looking forward to our next stay.
Nothing, truly delightful.
