Staff helpful and attentive as required.
Breakfast overall good with lots of choice but some items like sausage and bacon had clearly been sat to long in the kitchen before being severed witch spoilt a good meal.
Dinner options somewhat limited particularly for vegetarians and some items overdone such as 25 olives in my salad which I don't eat anyway! However the rest of our meals were of a good standard.
We had selected a large room (No17) and it certainly was spacious. The on-suit was equally large and well equipped with a great walk in shower with lots of hot water and a double ended bath. Despite its size it was a bit limited in terms of space for our toiletries and there were quite a few cracked tiles on the floor. The room was bit of a hotch potch of furniture and decor the bed was very hard as were tha pillows and again with a little tweaking and some nicer furniture it could be sumptuous.
The hotel overall is very good but just lacks attention to detail to take it to the next level its located in a lovely village with a range of independent shops particularly for this into clothes shopping.
Despite our criticisms we would recommend the hotel and would happily stay again.
On checking out we became aware of the "tips" added to the evening meal bill which amounted to approx 12% of the cost which we were not aware of and to our knowledge isn't stated anywhere. The hotel should realise this is poor and allow customer to tip according to their experience and preference.
Friendly staff. Good restaurant
Relaxed and made to feel at home
Nothing I didn't like
clean well appointed room, good food, easy to find, well kept historic building in pretty setting.
steep stairs, different, level floors (old building)
Central location very calming
The only negative was carpet in our particular room felt dated and worn
Stayed in “The Eaves” 2 bed apartment for 2 nights B&B.
Clean & comfortable despite the heat wave.
Outstanding, friendly, courteous professional and attentive staff.
There were no dislikes.
Location and room was nice, beds comfy.
Room too hot, windows are restricted on opening and fans not adequate. The restaurant was ok but they need to improve.
Poor Wi-Fi
The peace and quiet village atmosphere with lovely friendly hoste hospitality yesterday. The smoke salmon at breakfast was simply exquisite.
The fact we only stayed one night at the Hoste at the end of a week long tour of Norfolk coast.
Clean good food if you consider the cost of a good breakfast then not bad value
Our room looked into car park and reception room 32 needs blinds or at least net curtain
The room was amazing... very luxurious and big ... brilliant bathroom and parking on site. Location was brilliant right in the centre of the town perfect ... no issues from the dog she liked it as well ! live band in the evening a great bonus .... you cant go wrong here...
Having to leave.... honestly its a great place to stay... especially if you have a dog
